for anyone who is interested, there is an even easier method to make butter at home, though it isn't foolproof. Let your cream warm up to room temperature, put it in a jar with a tight fitting lid and start shaking, if the cream hasn't been homogenized or ultra-pasteurized, it should form butter within minutes.

@@MarieGarrett. exactly. Chai by itself is the word for tea leaves or the drink in india and many other south asian countries. When we add cardamom, cinnamon, lemongrass, ginger, star anise etc., It becomes masala chai. So basically whatever people in the west use as 'Chai seasoning' is what is masala for masala chai. Frankly I don't like using the term chai seasoning, it feels as if Americans or the British didn't even try to understand what masala is and just named it 'tea leaves' when there's no actual tea in it. 🙄 Nobody wants to appreciate culture anymore, sigh.
