Let's Talk Babywearing
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 มี.ค. 2019
I'm a mom to 3 young children! I want to help others in all the areas I struggled with in my parenting journey! I focus on babywearing here- as that made such a huge impact on my life as a mom!

Neko Half Buckle | Nursing and Hip Carry
This is a longer video that I originally had intended to put on Instagram- But it appears I can no longer do longer videos there. So apologies for the vertical setup, but I intended to post there.
This is how to do a hip carry with the Neko half buckle (infant size). This can be done with any half buckle and is one of my favorite hip carries with a half buckle. I find half buckles in general can allow people to get familiar with certain woven wrap carries with a little more ease thanks to that buckle waistband.
I also show how to nurse as my baby is sick and wanting to comfort a nurse even more.

Okay, I am absolutely in love with this tandem for a smaller baby. This can be done with two babies of differing ages, twins, a toddler and baby, two toddlers, etc. I personally really enjoy this for a little baby because it just seems to put them in a better position overall compared to a ruck with the two "tibetan finish" passes that baby sits in. I used this incredible @oschaslings Leana Abi...

Boy or girl?
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
What is the mesh stretchy wrap? Boba, Moby and other stretchy wraps are too thick and makes my little one overheat, and both of us sweat
Lenny lamb?
So glad I wouldn't have to buy another wrap!
I wonder how this compares to the Tula Toddler carrier? I'm trying to decide between the two!
Well . I just found out i am pregnant but i can't tell what level im at yet just found out today im so nervous and yes having all of these symptoms
I don't wear my baby wrap like this? It never gets lose 😅
not easy
Oh wow, awesome video! I love my half buckle carrier. I did a lot of baby wearing and nursing the first 4 months. My baby used to eat every single hour he was awake, and I have a toddler to run around with. He was little in the summer, so we were out a lot. I nursed in my half buckle carrier, but just with the regular inward facing finish, and it was so awkward how low he got as he got older because he’s been in the 90%+ height for a while. He’s 6 months old now, and I’m not sure if it would be feasible to nurse in the carrier anymore even in the hip carry due to my breasts being lower. Luckily I don’t have to feed in the carrier now as when he was little. I will keep this in mind for baby #3 in the future though!
How great! Please let us know more about it 😊
hi mama i have a 25 pound 6 month old. born 11 pounds 😅 i love baby wearing and am interested in a woven wrap like this one. i’m wondering what you recommend for a very heavy babe and an xl mama ❤
i remember that my mom always did this with my baby brother!
I see you don't use the created X as a seat. Is there a carry where you can pre tied a seat? I used it in this one as a seat for my 4 months old untill I saw it's not used to be like a seat 😅
I thought the baby was just snoring. It is scary how frail they are.
OHHH SO THAT’S WHY - I had to read through several comments but basically a newborn can’t hold their head up by itself. So when being wrapped they gotta be right around the mom so their head and chin aren’t flopping down onto their chest and pressing/constricting their throat/airways. I’m not a parent so I keep forgetting stuff like, it’s a newborn baby, so it literally cannot do ANYTHING to take care of itself, not even hold its own head up!
That never happened with my 1st born nor my current 4 week old, SAFETY FIRST but.. I think some babies are built different
The fur hood one looks so comfy
They are a special coat called an Amauti! It's used to securely hold the baby by Inuit mothers and keep their little ones warm in harsh conditions. Such an incredible option that is still used today!
I love how you included soo much photos of different women❤ it really shows how we, people, actually have a very similar culture. We have differences and still there are soo much small similarities that unite us❤
i was carried around like this🥹
YES ! Finally someone understands!!! When me and my mother were at the shops when I was younger she would have my baby sister on her back with a towel and people would laugh ! Like please respect people slay culture just because it’s different does not make it so you may laugh about it
When you see this in a society, know that it is a society that cares for it's young and will be a good one.
My family calls it bambo :>
Love it❤ i wore all 6 of my babies, even my twins. One on front, one in back. I was given a traditional "rebozo"(wrap) by my mexican mother in law. My twins are 16 , the baby almost 4 and i now use my rebozo as a giant scarf.
When I was a kid, my mom used to carry me around like this a lot and I miss it sm 😪
خلاص شيليها بيدك وعادي
Attachment parenting? You mean being able to do anything with a baby? This wasn't done in the past as some psychological thing for the kid. It was done for survival, because it made sense, because we as mothers had shit to do and we needed to be able to carry our babes without using our arms. If we had wider hips and fur babies would just hang onto us like great apes do. That's why babies have insane grips. But our bodies and brains don't have the time to fully develop in the womb because if they took that time they'd be too big to birth. Honestly I think that's why we evolved to be smarter, so we could take care of our undeveloped potatoes
A lot of cultures have seen it as far more than just a convenience tool, even in the past. It's a form of physical connection and that's been noted in many cultures in a variety of different ways. But agreed, if we had fur they would be clinging on to us. Since we don't, other ways of keeping our young close were utilized. And we may have different terms now, but it's been found that many historical parenting practices (including wearing and other aspects of our modern "attachment parenting") have potential for strong impacts on the mental health as well as physical health for the baby as they grow.
This was SO helpful! Thank you!
I love babies
Not harder then being a man sorry
Your videos are the best. 🥹 You're so real and down to earth. ❤ Thanks for all the inspiration.
Sensitive topic….. My mum’s friend had a newborn and used one of these on a walk and she didn’t noticed but when she looked down a while later, her baby was blue and had passed.. I’m not sure how she didn’t realise, but she had it on too tight.. I’m only 18 but when I’m older i want to have kids but I’d be scared to use one of these.. is there a safe way to use them?
Absolutely love this!!! Wish it was slowed down just a touch so it's easier to pause on each picture - they are all so fascinating! It's interesting to see the different methods as well!! ☺️
There's a great post on Wrap Your Baby that goes over them all in detail and allows you to see these and more! I'll post the link in a second comment (sometimes TH-cam blocks links.)

When my mom saw me carrying my babies with rebozos, she was so proud. She thought I’d never wear it. It connected me with my roots. Beautiful times
That's so beautiful ❤️ it's such a rich history of nurturing and holding our little ones.
Busi of @babuebabycarriers is the type of person that literally makes you smile just from hearing her voice. She exudes love and nurturing warmth. You can't help but feel better when you talk to her. Talking to her and watching her travels back to her home in Zimbabwe gave me a new perspective on how she came to be who she is. There is such an intense and beautiful level of community and care towards everyone. Nurture and babywearing are fundamentally pieces of the same puzzle. I've had a beautiful opportunity to explore traditional torso carries and learning the ins and outs of caring for my little one from her perspective being brought up in a culture that has never let go of a lot of the instinctual and historical aspects of parenting. I got some insight from her today on the use and meaning of the word Mbereko and we wanted to share it with you all. Here are some direct quotes from Busi: What is Mbereko? . Literal Meaning: Mbereko refers to the traditional cloth or sling used by mothers to carry their babies on their backs. This method of babywearing has been practiced for generations and is deeply rooted in Zimbabwean culture, symbolizing care, protection, and the close bond between mother and child. • The Practical Side (Bereka): Bereka means to carry, and it describes the act of physically carrying a baby using a traditional sling or cloth. This is the everyday practice we see when a mom ties her baby securely on her back, freeing her hands to work, care for others, or engage with her community. Bereka is practical, but it’s also about keeping the baby close, safe, and comforted. • The Symbolic Side (Mbereko): Mbereko is the bigger picture. It represents the why behind babywearing-the love, care, and responsibility that come with raising a child. It’s about more than carrying your baby; it’s about the bond you create, the values you pass down, and the connection to the village that supports you. Wearing our little ones close to our body is nothing new- it's been practiced for thousands of years and many cultures have continued to maintain that practice. That continued practice is why we all get to benefit today.
@@letstalkbabywearing this is beautiful, thank you :)
LOVE THIS!!!!
Girl I don’t even know how you got your nipple in her mouth like that! It looks like u have no milk in your boobs at all or boobs for that matter! How did u do that??!!
Strong mommy!
Can I use a long scarf (or even silly wrap??) for this instead of buying another carrier? I have so many carriers and can’t rationalize buying another 🙃 I’d love more videos on baby wearing and nursing! I have small breasts (not sure how that impacts things) but baby and I are having a hard time figuring this part out!
I absolutely love your videos. You have changed the game of baby wearing for me that I am investing in all things baby wearing for my third and last baby… Currently 23 weeks today.🎉
My kiddos are 8 years apart but i probably would have done this if they were born closer together. Good job mama!
Thank you for this video, my little one is about 4 and a half months and I hadn't thought to try this with him at this age but he's loving being able to be more nosey when carry him around the house! But also feel like he's really safe and like you said, can still lean into you.
I am Gen X fostered a sweet boy who did not ask for his Mom’s addictions and I read up on bonding and I wore him and he is now our son. We adopted him right before he turned 3. Some bitter older lady made a comment when I was wearing him facing me in the mall, “why do you need to hold him so close?” I am a vanilla Momma and my son is chocolate, so with her tone I was unsure it was about just wearing him. So I just spoke softly, but clearly under my breath so she could hear, as we exited the elevator, “This here, is none of your business”, Period, the end. Attachment styles are real, and my son and foster to adopt babies need that kind of training so they don’t just detach from all caregivers due to any trauma they have endured. But as for your own, you just Love and hold those babies close while they are still babies those days fly by, and looking back those are the times you will miss and those people won’t matter then, so they shouldn’t matter now. That boomer forgot to take their meds. And I feel sorry for her kids and grandkids.
Glad to see he pulls at your little hairs. Thought my boy was the only one
Yea it's a no from me dawg my 21/2 yr old can stay off my back. One baby at a time
To each their own!
The ease in which you get your 3 year old on your back 💪🏻
Yes what brand! Love to minimize the winter gear to maximize outside time!
There are a multitude of ways to meet everyone's needs and this is what works for me. Does that mean that it needs to work for you? Absolutely not! We all get three things differently and I'm just sharing one tool that has helped me. Sometimes I choose to give my newly 3-year-old some closeness in this way and sometimes I let him know that I'm not able to do it right at that point. But, there is something special about providing comfort in a way that he has experienced since birth- especially when sick! This little guy is going through a little bit of a phase where he's being worn more. Partly due to him just wanting some extra attention and snuggles and in part for safety. He is a very social runner and finds nothing more exciting than racing off after every random person he sees. My girls went through a runner stage (minus the social aspect) and we did similarly and now have no issues. I personally love being able to meet everyone's needs in this way and I'm thankful for options like the @nekoslings half buckle in both infant and toddler sizes. I like knowing that both little ones are comfortable and supported. And, I like that both are incredibly adjustable to get the best fit for a wide range of sizes. It's always nice especially to find a toddler carrier that adjusts (because most are a set size!) Their infant half buckle also has a padded section within the wrap style straps which can be nice for a little added comfort- I find this especially to be the case when tandem wearing and having the straps slide up on the shoulders. I highly recommend Neko and I'd check them out if you are curious about an adjustable half buckle or even full buckle option! They have a variety of different ones- And, I really love the colors that they have. They are so rich and beautiful! #babywearing #baby #toddlerwearing #tandembabywearing #motherhood
Which carrier is this?
It is the Lenny Hybrid!
