Thanks for this. I had a cardiac ablation and still really groggy and required to lay still post op, I had to PEE! So, they set this up and told me to go ahead and go, but I was so out of it I didn't understand what they meant. It seemed like I was just going to wet the bed. They kept telling me it was ok but I kept resisting cuz I just didn't understand...lol. Probably driving them nuts. Finally went, still didn't understand how it was working and I heard the liquid sound in the cup and had no idea where my urine was going. But it worked really well. But my confusion has been hounding me since. So now I know!

The cap is called an obturator for those of you looking for the word.

I'm an international nurse and never encountered this type of external cath for female patients and I've only heard this from us nurses on social media therefore i got really curious how it looks like and how to use it. So i search it on TH-cam. And thankfully there are tons of tutorials and your video is one of the best because you didn't only demonstrate it but you also discussed the indication and contraindications and other things.... thank you.

At ~$7 each three catheters per day would cost over $600/month. Can they be sanitized and reused? Or repacked with foam or gauze? I know the maker recommends against this but I wonder if it's practical.

Hello. I know this video is 3 or so years old. My mom was just released from the hospital on 11/8/23. She used this in the hospital unfortunately insurance companies don't cover it (hospital Dr. And her family Dr. tried) they said it was still fairly new. We paid for the kit closed to 700. Not including External Catheters. We paid 200. for a case of 30. I'm so glad I came across this video. It helped us so much...
