Swiss Army Low Ankle Boots with Gaiters 1950s-70s
มุมมอง 151หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi guy today we're looking at a pair of Swiss Army Boots from 1964. This style of low ankle boot was used in conjunction with different styles of gaiters until the mid 70s I believe. There was an intermediary boot used up until the early 90s. If you have any information about the boots used during the period between the mid 70s and early 90s, please let me know.

Hi guys today we're going to be taking a look at another piece of South Korean equiptment in the Granite-B pattern. Today we're looking at their wet weather snow/ski parka. These are highly sought after in the surplus market due to their practicality and effectiveness in snowy environments. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test it out in the snow, as I don't live in an area where it snows. ...
Swiss Army Taz 57/75 Alpenflage Uniform

Hi guys today we're looking at one my favorite camouflage patterns on one of the most interesting uniform designs out there. This Swiss Army Taz 57/75 uniform was used by the Swiss Army from approximately 1960-1993. It is quite unique due to the red dominant pattern and is visually striking. Unlike many other countries at the time which adopted load bearing systems, typically consisting of a be...
SWAT Style Snapgrid Vest Second Chance Body Armor

Hi guys today we're looking at a very interesting piece of body armor. This law enforcement kevlar vest is the relatively uncommon "snap grid" style of vest which uses metal snaps in addition to velcro in order to secure attachements like med pouches at other things. These weren't in style for very long but when they were, they were used by prominent departments such as the LAPD. I'm not sure i...

Hi guys today we're taking a look at a pair of boots used by most branches of the U.S. military from about 1984 to 2004, when they were replaced by tan, non leather boots. Also during this time jungle boots were still being worn. There were some minor changes introduced over the years in these boots including the heel eventually becoming one rubber piece and the number of speed lacing eyelets c...

Hi guys today we're taking a look at 3 Polish uniforms. I've featured all on my channel before, but now I'm going to compare them side by side. As you can tell they changed quite a bit over the years. Apparently now the Polish armed forces is going to be transitioning away from the Pantera pattern on the right, and introduce their own new pattern. Also I'm going to be shifting uploads from ever...
Russian Armed Forces Berezka Windbreaker
มุมมอง 2194 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hey guys today's piece is a Berezka pattern windbreaker I've had for a while now. I'm pretty sure this is my only Russian piece. I ended up going with the USSR flag in the thumbnail because the pattern was introduced under them, however this is likely a contemporary piece used by the Russian Federation Armed Forces. Even then, it might be commercial, there is very little identifying information.

Hey guys today we're taking a look at the final generation of East German Fallschirmjager boots. I got these boots brand new, as there were many sold off as surplus after the reunification of East Germany. These are really cool for a number of reasons you'll find out after watching the video. In addition to FJ, Diensteit IX used them as well.
ERDL Camo Comparison: 69 Jungle vs 78 RDF

ERDL was developed as early as 1948 by Natick Labs but didn't see use until the mid 60s. Over the years it saw action in Vietnam and later was even worn up to the early 80s. Woodland was basically a an upscaled version of ERDL with sharper shapes, and served all branches of the military until the early 2000s. Learn how ERDL changed over time in this in depth video.

Hi guys today we're going to be taking a look at a very clean example of the Outer Tactical Vest part of the Interceptor Body armor system. This was introduced in the early 2000s and it a pretty iconic piece of gear being seen worn in the Invasion of Iraq in 2003 by primarily U.S. Marines in DCUs. This piece doesn't have any SAPIs but does have the soft Kevlar backing.

Another is granite b from a lieutenant. You can get military uniforms in ukay ukay for $1 to $20 but you have to dig around. I got both for $2-$3 bucks. Having been issues with 68 pattern jackets in the 70s and early 80s I was a bit surprised when some years ago I ordered a much later 84 style DPM jacket to spare my Barbour jacket when renovating a new house and garden. I wondered where the buttons had gone, what was with the Velcro, and why the hood had a copper stiffener. So thanks for explaining the change so clearly. Prefer the old style at least for present tasks. And the pre 68 olive drab jacket was very nice too.

The 84 pattern (not P84) looks darker because they changed the material to 'modal' which absorbs the inks more and makes the material look darker. They actually changed to this material partway through the 68 pattern so later 68 pattern smocks are the same dark camo as the 84 pattern. The pocket on the right sleeve takes a field dressing.

Better to carefully unstitch the pouch material and make a new pouch or add some matching camo pouches. Best part is you can modifiy your vest to the way you like it. 👍

The additional buttons on the neck are not for the hood; they are for the synthetic fur liner. The actual hood for this parka is a separate piece of cloth, which is not attached to the parka at all (a very strange and stupid designers' idea).
