Fascinating Lizard Species and Their Unique Traits
Woah awesome and informative video man! Never heard of a rankins dragon, thats pretty awesomee
They are pretty cool, right? I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I think the cicada turtle and the snapping turtle need way bigger enclosures. They can barely move in the ones you have them in.
All of the turtles and tortoises are in temporary winter enclosures, they can’t stay outside year round here in upstate NY. They all have larger enclosures outside during the warmer months when they are more active.
And When Would you Be Having Some Baby Turtles 🐢?
I’m hoping soon, there has been some breeding behavior seen, but don’t know for sure.
Man I’ll Love To Come Check Out Your Room . Where Are You Located? I’m in LA
We are in upstate NY, we are hoping to have a place open to the public in the next couple years!
Mr. Prickly has my vote 🥰

@@the-reptile-haven I love that! You guys are an amazing family. Our family enjoys watching your videos. We have learned a LOT!
I'm glad! Me and the girls love making these videos!
what about speedy
Great name! We will throw that in the hat!
Mines called Dash!
Awesome! I love rankins! We have about 15 babies right now looking for new homes!
Great video
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Great video
Thank you!
There's actually no maximum size for an enclosure, regardless of age/size. You just want to give them plenty of enrichment to get lost in their enclosure. Better to buy their forever enclosure right away, and just have proper husbandry.
depending on the animal there is definitely a max enclosure size for babies/juveniles as they can get easily stressed out in too much open space unless you have the entire enclosure filled with rocks, branches, hollow logs, etc. and for most people that is not going to happen, so it is easier to start with a smaller enclosure for the first year then go up to their full size enclosure.
Tutorial videos on animals including the kids are my favorite.
We definitely have some of those in the works, thank you!
Nice vid bro

First!!❤ (pin) So underrated channel, getting my first leo in a month!! Any tips?
Thank you so much! Leo’s are great pets! Are you getting a baby or adult? they are really easy, just make sure their enclosure is kept warm, lots of hiding spots and decor for them to explore, change it up once in awhile to give them some enrichment with a new environment. I leave a dish of mealworms in their at all times so they can eat when they want, then supplement with crickets, roaches or superworms once a week.
My most expensive is my gargoyle gecko got him for 100$ even though the morph is around 400$-900$ cause it was a adoption from someone who didn’t know better my cheap was my first animal my bearded dragon which itself was free but tank wise is definitely not the case
gargoyle geckos are really cool, I've never kept them but I've been thinking about getting a pair or two. Bearded Dragons are one of my favorite reptiles, I have had many over the years, I've also hatched out several hundred babies too lol!
I enjoyed that!
thank you!
I love red eared sliders! Do those escape resistant feeder bowl work? My favorite is my Egyptian Uromastyx, Judge, but the most expensive is my Frilled lizard named Adora Belle
Yes, I have been using the escape proof feeding dishes for years and they work great with dubias, they will work good with mealwoms and superworms too as long as you don't fill the dish to high. Egyptian Uromastyx and frilled dragons are definitely on my bucket list!

Become a teacher of some sort
I’d love to be a high school science teacher!
@@the-reptile-haven do it then. You are stopping you
I did go back to school a couple years ago and am only about 20-30 credits away from my bachelors degree in biology. I just need to save up the money to pay for the last few semesters, then I can start teaching while I get my masters. that's been the plan at least. the older I get the less achievable it feels sometimes...
Very knowledgeable the both of yas!
Thank you!
I need two. Do you have a website For them? 😂❤
I don't have a website up and running yet, hopefully soon. But you can email us at Lucas@AREexpo.co for more info on purchasing a baby when they are ready to go. or you can message us on Facebook, The Reptile Haven Wildlife Center.
I'm curious, how much do a little baby weigh? and how large is it? In gram and cm please :p
They are about 5-6 centimeters, and I’m not sure on weight because they are so small they don’t even register on my scale lol! Their father weighs 70 grams though to give you a comparison on an adults size.

Conservation through commercialization is a valid. We are breeding Mangshan vipers and I believe that will be the only way to keep them from going extinct.
Yes, Tom crutchfield has always said conservation through commercialization and I completely agree, with the continuing loss of habitat, which is because of humans, conservation through captive breeding may be the only chance some of these species have at survival.
@@the-reptile-haven I love that man and his family. He was at a Canadian expo recently. I wish I could have been there
He has always been someone in the reptile hobby I’ve always wanted to meet! He basically started the reptile hobby in the US!
Please tell me you are not proposing people keep two bearded dragons together. At 1:13 you say a 4x2x2 is the minimum for 1-2 bearded dragons.
I have been keeping and breeding bearded dragons for over 20 years and have always kept my dragons in groups of 1:1 or 1:2 and have never once had any issues. You just need to make sure you never have more than one male in an enclosure and have a second enclosure incase the females don’t get along, which I have never had happen. You need to make sure all dragons have their own hides, plenty of basking places, and visual barriers.
Cool video, I got My bearded dragon from craigslist but he's in perfect condition. I think he might be a tiger blue bar. I realy like the citris bright yellow with blue bars. But I like all the morphs.
Thank you! That’s awesome! I live bearded dragons, I’ve been keeping and breeding them for over 20 years now and still love them!
I couldn’t stop laughing when you cut to the turtle walking whilst you waited for the AI to answer 😂 I loved that bit so much I watched the video twice!
Glad you liked it lol!
#4 makes me so sad, how can people think that 😢
I know, some people don’t think of them as actual “animals” which is very sad. That’s one of the main reason I work in this field and make these videos, trying to educate(and entertain ) as many people as I can reach.
Oh my gosh, do you think we could show someone a Uromastyx and tell them it’s a tortoise without a shell? 😂 I’m odd, I know it
Haha! Probably, and the sad part is someone would believe it! Lol!
@@the-reptile-haven well yes they’d believe it. Likely the person who believed the Ball was sizing her up as a meal. 😂
I had a woman actually tell me her Ball python was sizing her up to eat her! I was gobsmacked!! How about a video of fun facts? The beardie will go over to Lamar and rest his head on Lamar’s hand as he works. My tegu knew his name. He also figured out how to stick his nose in a portable dog fence and lift it to move it to the side.
Wow 🙄 a ball python couldn’t eat you even if it wanted to lol! Yes! We have some “fun fact” videos planned.
@@the-reptile-haven she actually gave her Ball to the guy that told her that fallacy
I don’t think chameleons have chromatophores they have something different and they definitely use their color in the wild to hide Just sometimes better for colorblind animals Where we might see them to other animals they are invisible
They don’t actually change their color to match their surroundings, their natural color does tend to blend into the colors they live in, but they can’t consciously change their color to match what is around them. They get darker when they are cold or stressed and get brighter when they are warmer and “ happy” for lack of a better word.
Had no idea that chameleons have chromatophores like cephalopods!
yes they do :)
My favorite morph is zero leatherback. Least favorite are silkie morphs.
Yes! I love zero leatherbacks! And I think when you add hypo into that it just brightens them up and makes them look really nice.
My Sumatran is the easiest. Big enclosure but she only eats once a week and poops infrequently but when she does, wow! Thanks for educating people. They don’t think ahead
Thank you! I didn’t put any snakes in the list because I dont currently have any snakes, but yes there are a few snakes that would make the top of that list just because of the easy feeding schedule and no need for special lighting. I love animal education! I try to put the best info I can out there.
Awesome
Thank you!
Can you please make a full video about this I want to see more of it
Absolutely I will! I’m so glad people are as interested in this stuff as I am! I have many more ecosystem builds in the plans. But in the mean time I will definitely put together a more in depth video on this ecosystem enclosure.
@@the-reptile-haven thank you
You should also add cherry shrimp
We just rescued one. I love her. She's every pet in one
that's awesome!
Imagine how much $1K would help rescue all the MANY returned and unwanted beardies at petsmart / pet stores
I know, I am a breeder that sells babies, but when I sell them I make sure the customer has done their homework and knows what they are getting into, even if it means I don't make the sale. I just want every animal I sell to go to a good home that understands what they are getting into and ready to take care of that animal for the rest of its life.
Also stay away from spinach it depletes calcium. I love beardies!
Yes, thank you! I forgot to mention that! it is actually full of calcium but has a chemical (Oxalic acid) that blocks the absorption of it.
People say this about spinach and it is true, but it's also true that spinach is a good source of other beneficial nutrients so I like to give some once in a while. Arugula is another good staple food and kale. 100% stay away from fruits as it's not good for the teeth... they don't need it.
@@jeffreymagni1272 I’m careful when the animals are young about spinach. I have a 10 year old Egyptian Uromastyx I feed it to though. As for arugula my Uros love it! I also get them dandelion greens out of my yard.
@ChiaraMainolfi Right on. I always wanted Uro, but can't get too many animals. Yeah I only give it like twice a month. I used to do wild dandelion too, but I have to spray the yard now so they're off limits. My guy would love to eat the flower. I found a place online that sells seeds though so I may try to grow some myself indoors or even inside his bioactive enclosure if they'll grow.. they are weeds after all lol.
@@jeffreymagni1272 my Egyptian Uromastyx actually weighs 201.1 grams! I love my Uros but they like it hot! I keep them in a separate room so I can keep them warm enough. I have 2.57 acres and don’t spray so even my Sailfin gets the dandelion greens.
I guessed 16. They are adorable!!! What I do when I have a mixed terrain I use rocks for fish tanks instead of dirt. (Because I’m lazy) It’s sweet you waded in to give them a better start.
Male usually smaller and slimmer than female, very agile. Male is more light weight, for them easy to hump to make baby turtle. Male had long tail and thick, for flower's stem output, cloaca head south. Male stink than female, territorial scents they mark on. Male had concave plastron. Male had long sharp tail. Male colour is more vibrant and darker, less plastron pattern. Male had shell in different shaped. Male shell is thin. Male do mating dance ritual. Female is a tank built for carry eggs and dig hole to lay egg function. Female is more bulky and heavy built, tough cookie looking. Female had short tail not thick, for male turtle input, cloaca head north. Female had round built. Female had short nail. Female colour is dull and lighter or fade, more pattern plastron. Female turtle had different shell shaped as well. Female shell is thick. Female do arousal with flip up tail and erotic cloaca. Some species of turtle looks the same nothing different, and need to use vibrator to zap around their plastron to make them appear flower bud stem to indicate male, scientists did that first for research. 😅😅😅
My tarantula would be my smallest. He’s also the fastest. 😊 You should put a coin beside your crab for perspective.
What kind of tarantula do you have? That’s a great idea! Thank you!
I have a Brazilian Blue Beauty dwarf, a Pumpkin Patch dwarf and of course a Brazilian Black.
Awesome! I’d love to get tarantulas again some day!
@@the-reptile-haven I like them, they don’t take up a lot of space but babies do eat crickets and those stink
almost all my animals eat some kind of bug so that's ok with me lol!
