I have potential access to a Scout of unknown vintage. Should it be like yours I will run away. My skill set mechanically could never do what you are doing and I can’t justify paying someone to rebuild it properly. I’ll keep watching your progress though, Scouts are cool old vehicles. Best of luck with your project.
Any updates?
Hi - nothing yet. I have gone down the rabbit hole of upgrading to a Vortec 5.3 engine! Just in the middle of rebuilding it.
@@donfu2795damn, now you have to move mounts. 😂😂
own a 68 800. Daily. Love. Take top off every summer. Its been a great runner.
My 69 800a is MUCH worse.🤷♂️
Man, not sure if that's not just a parts rig. That's alot of rust.
I just got a 66 800, and not a whole lot of rust on it. Im going to watch. Where do suggest getting parts from???
I get them from Rod at ScoutPluss in Hope BC, Canada
...any updates?
When removing the quarter panels I came across a lot of rust in the seams, but nothing a little elbow grease and tlc couldn't fix.
I am doing the same to a 67'..it's a labor of love
Thanks for the video. Happy trails, long may you run..
Thank you very much for sharing. There has been so much helpful information in these videos! I hope all is well. Will keep an eye out for more in the future.
Those rusted Fastener the way only way of really taking it out is penetrating oil in a torch and have a Fire extinguisher nearby.
yeah, torch is the thing...
Cuz those scouts were cheeply and poorly made rust prone. Ment to be thone away!!!😭😱😨😖😰
Those scouts were farm/work trucks. They were used daily outside and they’re 60 years old. This one is exceptionally rusty, must be from a cold state that salted a lot. Also “thone” is not a word and emoji’s are for teenagers.
any more progress?
Any update vids?
Don Great video hope you post more on the Scout I'm eyeing one exactly like this one at auction.
Whered you go? =(
These videos are going to help me along a lot on my own scout! Can’t wait for more videos!
Fantastic!! Thank you for this video. You are the only one to do it...
Looking good sir!
Hat's off to you for this undertaking. I have a 62 half cab with some rust but nothing like this! Best wishes on all those repair panels!! Look forward to your updates.
Keep at it! I've a 61' same mill. Found on an almond orchard. It was chained in 2nd gear. (Yes the shifter was chained to the dash) needless to say pops out of gear. Someday I'll drop the gearbox, anyone have a recommendation as to parts supplier syncro and such?
Great Video and very helpful thanks! Celsius? Are you based in Canada?
Love watching these vids, I’m basically doing the same thing on a 1961 scout. I believe the engine is a 152 which was half of the IH v8 304.
I wonder if the skid plate on the transmission cross brace isn't attached upside down.
Again great videos. I'll be recording as well for my reference mostly.
Where are you going for parts?
This is great! I am just starting a 64 ' Scout 80 in similar shape. I'll keep watching!
Great vid. I enjoyed and learned !!!
When do you get to go for a drive?
In my mind? pretty well every night at 3AM.
