Thank you for the video! I have always wanted to make rugs. Now that I've watched your video. It's time to try. Thank you, Dee
Wow, no lacing! I'm going to try this.
How thick are the strands? Are they all different widths? It looks like the strands are pretty wide, 2-3 inches...? TIA❤
Thanks for this. i have a large stack of my kids t-shirts that I've been looking for a good way to utilize them into a rug. This looks like it would work well for those. Any way to estimate how many yards of fabric you used for that 2 x 4 rug?
@diet94 I've never measured but im going to make a guess it'll take 12-15 t-shirts depending on size of the shirts
i am so confused.
Me too

I really want to make a round one now :3 But I’m not sure I’ll know how 😅 I will have to start passing my strands through the ones before immediately… 🤔 Maybe I should start with this shape first, to teach myself 😆 Thank you for the great video !
@PGD-vy7fq check out my tutorial on Making a Round Rug.
Can you make a mat the same way you make a rug
@brendaspaetti8106 yes! Just make it square instead of oval!
I think I will try this can you make a mat the same way
Really it’s like beading hair
Just found this and I love the idea. How wide of a strip do you use or does it work with any width? Thanks!
@FelineStorm thank you! check out my video on Answering your Questions in which i go into detail of width.
Lovely I’m excited and I love pink :)
Why did she use grocery bags for the rug and how did she do it. And where did she get those grocery bags.
É bellissimo vorrei provare❤
The action shot of the thumbs up at the end killed me
about how much material did you use?
Ive never measured! I re-purpose used clothing, so i just cut them as i get them. Your question deserves a proper answer. I will do another video on how much fabric is needed !
Чичковское плетение!!
Me encantó gracias por compartir tu conocimiento desde mendoza Argentina mis saludos 🇦🇷
Can I ask you about how long it took you to make these ones, as well as approximately how many bags itt took? I’m excited to try making a few of my own, just not looking forward to collecting all the bags, I am only interested in used plastic bags. Other than the few I get here and there living alone I really don’t need to shop as much as I did before my babies have grown up and moved out. Guess I’ll have to post on all my social media sites for family and friends to save their bags for me, I’m wondering if it would be possible to make them thicker as in adding layers to make I guess something similar to mattresses for the homeless. I guess I could always make 3-5 of the same size and weave em together on top of eachother. I know not the most comfortable in hot weather but air mattresses that are used daily quickly begin leaking within ask or 2. I think this would be a little time consuming but well worth it in the end, it’ll be a win, win recycling the plastic and helping provide a little comfort for the homeless living in tents.
Ive never counted bags ...just LOTS!! I love to repurpose & you have a very worthy idea to help others in need. Check out my other video. This may be more conformable. th-cam.com/video/wJljWX5L2Zo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yTVgVHQYvOVPhRxo
How many rugs have you made? They are beautiful!!!
Oh my I've never kept track! Lots! And thank you!
Wow! I have never seen a braided rug, I feel this could be better for me personally, instead of a loom, I have NOTHING against a loom, they are just as beautiful, but I like this braided rug ❤❤❤
Thank you, I love them too!
If you don’t use the cutoff, recycle it
Just found you, excellent video. Thank you.
How tf did you figure this out...? like were you just one day like "think I'm gonna connect a bunch of bags together today🤔"
I have a creative mind & a love of repurposing "trash"
Oh even took the machine an where is All my covid money as well as unemployment an three cars money. No your half mill is nothing to me. Plus every thing I made on here an all. My possessions
Доброго времени суток! Спасибо большое Вам за мастер класс, за продолжение традиции.
I saw someone use the pile discard to stuff a pillow 😮😮😮
Sounds like a great idea for patio furniture, using the discarded plastic to either make your own patio furniture padding or to add extra fluff/firmness to the stuff you already have out there.
Omg THIS is the tutorial I've been looking for!!! THANK YOU!!!!
I have done repairs to several braided rugs that my grandmother had made 50 or more years ago. Hers are made of wool or something similar and her method was to fold the fabric strips (three strips) during the braiding, and “sew” the braids together with twine. I now have about twenty years worth of old blue jeans that I am thinking of making into a rug. Any advice on that method
I've never used that method, sounds fun tho.
Thanks for your video! It looks like you used stretchy material. Would this technique also work with old sheets?
It does work, just a bit harder on your fingers. I prefer an Amish knot rug style for bed sheets.
Thanks for your response!
How much material of each color would you need for a 8-10 rug? For each color.
Thank you for making it look so easy! I’m going to make one!
This is such a well-made and clearly explained tutorial! Just to check, it looks like you’re using knit/jersey fabric. Is that correct?
Yes that is my favorite to use however you can use any type
Do you know if this works well as an outdoor Matt? I love the idea and want to use it for a welcome Matt but I worry about it getting damp do you think it would cause issues or could I just hang it to dry ? Thanks 😊
I made one for my neighbor specifically for outdoor & he says it works well
@@beverlymartin7688 thanks !
Thank you for this. Making a Braided Rag Rug is on my Crafter's Bucket List. Thank you.
You're welcome & best wishes on your rug making!
That cool
Thank you!
That nice
Thank you!
How long did it take to make it?
That size normally takes me about 5 hours if I don't count the cutting part for prep
Sewing often comes undone. esp. If you wash it.

I loved you video. I have been looking for something like this for awhile. Can I use regular cotton material for a rug or just stretch knit ?
You can use non-stretchy, it's just harder on your fingers when braiding it in
Very nice! Best rounding and finish off I’ve seen yet! 👏
Thank you!
Have you tried this method with the fabric reusable bags ?
I've used this same type of braid with various fabrics. I'd give the fabric bags a try! It should work
Cool thanks! I have so many bags!
Loved watching your video. Loved the rug. Got to try your method. Looks very good. Thank you. Patricia from frankston tx
Thank you!
Turn off the music. It's difficult to hear what your saying. Thank you for the tutorial.
