You would have the best DH in baseball for the next 6-8 years and an above average DH for the next 4. By year 3 this contract will look way better because of inflation. I say DH because Stearns isn't going to watch Soto in Citi RF for too long and move Jeff back to RF because we have Ronnie, Acuna and Jett to fill 2nd for chump change.

Not much to add being Randy covered all the bases, unlike Gerrit Cole. Our ballclub is in a strange position coming off a trip to the NLCS and may have a much different but upgraded squad next season. I would NOT bring back Pete regardless of his pedigree with our ballclub. It appears that Pete may be Plan B if we lose the Soto sweepstakes, I doubt he will sign a team-friendly deal being he already turned down a fair extension in the past. Walker is not a terrible option if he walks. Pete always reminded me of Dave Kingman, no, I'm not a wrinkly old guy, just a terrific, spectacular, and great historian of this great game, a paid member of SABR, this is where I drop the mike! I'm glad that Stearns will address PITCHING! I understand our obsession with Soto, obviously, the guy is the Ted Williams of the 21st Century, but great ballclubs must have great arms. The only thing in history that can silence big bats is big arms! Yes, bring Juan to Flushing but let's not forget the pitching staff building preferably from the bullpen out but if we get Crochet, he's a flamethrowing starter. I have a funny feeling Acuna and Williams will be gone this winter. Remember David Stearns did not draft or trade for ANY of these prospects, he's not attached to any of them, if he can flip 'em for high-end Major-League talent, do it!
