    Misleading title and description. I expected information on vaginal discharge changes during periods of extended fasting e.g. 2 week to 1 month water or juice fast. instead I get a video about blood flow with no medical/scientific or holistic explanation for why fasting is being recommended for excessive bleeding.

    At 9 minute a member of audience narrated Hadith about the companions returning from Badr with PTSD and the prophet counselled then to go fire arrows into an open field. I purchased the book of 40 Hadith on Archery (Mustapha Kani) but did not find it in there. Anyone know where this Hadith can be found?

    • @idriswatts8546
      @idriswatts8546 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember this quotation on the day. I would be very reluctant to say they came back with PTSD as that has specific symptoms that we cannot verify they had. I've never found such a source. I think it was in regard to Uhud, though. We do know that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered them to go out the next day after Uhud and confront the Quraysh after the lapse on the behalf of the archers and the Quraysh left and decided not to confront them and did not show. This would have reaffirmed a sense of confidence after a feeling of failure and defeat that could have been psychologically healing for them preventing any onset of mental disturbances for them, and God knows best.

    This issue is so confusing to the layman. Some scholars are saying that praying at 18 degree Fajr in UK summer time is risky. Doubts begin to form about the validity of the prayer even though we’ve begun the fast. How do we overcome doubts and confusion

    • @idriswatts8546
      @idriswatts8546 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. And it is very confusing for the scholars as well. I have developed my thoughts on this issue more since Dr Asim Yusuf's book came out about it. He took sightings in the UK for the whole year and produced a very thorough work. My position now personally is that the lay people should go with one position that they feel comfortable with and stick to it whilst being practical in the application of it. If someone is really struggling to get up by going back to sleep and keeps missing Suhur and Fajr then the earlier position might be best for them. If someone can get to sleep and wake up then they can take the other position. All of the positions have been espoused by qualified scholars so the lay people's role is to merely follow a valid position. The layperson is not obliged to get it right. They are obliged to follow sound scholarship and then they have fulfilled their religious obligation. Allah rewards the scholar that got it right twice and the one who got it wrong - although he exerted his efforts to get it right-once, and God knows best.

      Idris Watts Jazak’Allah Khair for the detailed reply. I guess an alternative prudent approach would be to exit the difference of opinion , starting imsak on earlier time and delaying the prayer after the later time. This has worked for me and my mum as we’ve plenty of washing up to do after Suhur anyway 🧼 🥣😅 May Allah keep us steadfast. Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatallahi wa baraktahu :)

    Salamualaykum, jazakumAllahu Khayran for your efforts. I have a questions, with this logics, then how come chewing gum is invalid?

    • @idriswatts8546
      @idriswatts8546 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be fine if the gum is unflavoured as nothing would go down your throat except saliva. If it is flavoured you are purposely chewing sth of flavour continously that will more than likely go down your throat. When brushing teeth with toothpaste you are entering sth flavoured for a temporary time and can avoid swallowing it and then rinsing your mouth with water, and it is for a need whereas gum isn't, and Allah knows best. The scholars mention the permissablity of tasting food to make sure it is okay and then spitting it out although they considered it disliked unless there were a real need.

  • @30251

    This was pretty informative. However, I don't really understand why or how there can be such an emphasis on how women will have fair skin and light skin, and how that is something that makes them so amazing. Does that mean dark-skinned women in this world are naturally ugly or lesser-than and need to be 'fixed' when they go to Jannah? It doesn't seem right to me at all.

    • @idriswatts8546
      @idriswatts8546 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment. This is an important and sensitive issue in light of consciousness and attitudes around race and identity today. We can explain it in different ways. We can say that the issue of light and darkness is not an issue of skin tone but rather the light of faith, innocence and purity that emanates from within and illuminates them outwardly. If we take the position it refers literally to light skin, then this does not necessitate that darker skin is ugly but that lighter skin is generally seen as the height of beauty in most cultures historically. Note that lighter is even relative to different cultures. The Arabs generally considered light skin tone with a reddish tone to be very beautiful at the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Also, we are not defined merely by our skin. That is to focus on one element of beauty, but we have many elements to us. Someone may have lighter skin but have small eyes that traditionally were not deemed as attractive as larger eyes in females for example. All of this goes back to the issue of whether there is an essential beauty that is recognized by cultures historically or is everything relative to individual taste. I understand this topic is very loaded as there is a lot of shame and judgement around appearance in today's culture, so we definitely have to state that one should be cautious of falling into these dangers. In the end, God knows best and this was merely my attempt at trying to give context and understanding to the religious sources in light of current attitudes without completely dismissing them as is so easy to do as well.

    • @30251
      @30251 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@idriswatts8546 Thank you very much for responding. I agree...I personally always assumed it was the former interpretation, as in the light being described was the one radiating from one's soul etc. so I was rather taken aback to hear your interpretation in the video and it made me a little sad at first. But it does make sense and I cannot deny the social context and I know there is no maliciousness behind it, as many Companions had dark skin but were still very beloved. And your point about different cultures having different standards of beauty is very true. Unfortunately for us in this day and age, skin tone happens to be a really controversial one. Either way this was a very informative and enjoyable watch and I am honestly glad you touched upon the topic. I think you handled the 'What do women get in Jannah?' issue very well too and I am very glad you did not dismiss it - which, as you state yourself, is something very easy to do and unfortunately common with male scholars/speakers today. Anyway, Jazakallah khair for your time and hard work, and I look forward to watching the rest of your videos soon inshaa Allah.

      In the Hanafi madhhab, a woman's feet are not considered awrah. Their 'ulama do not consider the hadith that you just quote to be strong enough to overturn other evidence to the contrary. How about whipping out isolated hadiths without requisite knowledge and publicly criticizing other Muslims? Hmm...I seem to have heard that those are haram too.

      Is that all you saw in this 29 minute lecture? What about the hijaab of the eyes? What about covering other people's faults? What about choosing kindness over righteousness? What if Allah unveils your sins in front of the world? God forbid! Be harsh on yourself and be kind to others. That's what our religion is about.
