One i had in for repair minor work and a tune its one solid receiver got to be one of the better ones ive come across.
Kenwood tr 851

One ive had in for repair and service. Main fault was crappy power lead and fuse holders there was a 4.5v drop across the lead under tx. New lead and better fuse holders problem cured
Trio tr 8400

One of my own need to give it a service at some point. I do like these old trios even though they tend to have issues with dry joints now and then

One i had in for a buzz/hum/noise on tx ended up recapping the radio and checking the alignment.

One ive had in with tx faults on both bands was two surface mount transistors that had failed

Uses same board as midland 2001 and many others. Has the useless 5 pin din mike.

I got it from www.kcb.co.uk/ but it was around 5/6 years ago but i dont think they do this version anymore.
This version is no longer available on this website. It has the most recent one from 2023. I think this new one leaves a lot to be desired. Thank you very much for your attention.👌😄
Its the same with a lot of radios the newer ones are junk. Hope you find the version you want somewhere out there.
I think it will be very difficult to buy a new radio like yours. It's just this crappy 2023 version. If I find one, I'll be lucky. I really appreciate it, thanks a lot.👍

Will it go higher to enter the Civil Air Patrol band we Use in the USA?
Cant remember where these stop transmitting when opened up think its around 460/470mhz but not sure. Most folks in uk want them doing for use on the pmr 446.

A classic and very sort after radio… personally I’m not a fan of the new President radios… However everyone has their own taste…
All the new presidents are just an expensive anyclone radio. Id much rather have the old president stuff

Diese alten Grotten mit 10 tausenden Teilen hatten es schon vor 20 Jahren hinter sich, ein Wunder wie die heutige Integration ein ic-7300 hervorbrachte, wie von einem anderen Stern . Allerdings Raritäten, nur kauft es keiner.

What is wrong with it?
There's several radios in the vid and various faults and bodges on them the main fault on all of them was the rotary encoder for the vfo and noisy fan motors plus the memory backup battery.
Is this similar to a Cobra 🐍
its a modern take on the cobra but not as good

Unusual radio this one
Great to see this Rob, more people should know just how much you have contributed to the radio community over the years.
