Their New Bells Sound Amazing!
In December 2020 I traveled to Holy Cross Monastery in West Virginia to install the 9 smallest of their 13 new bells in their old wooden belfry. Once the new church is built, all 13+ bells will be installed in the large stone bell tower designed by Andrew Gould. You can see the excavated foundation to the left of the monastery buildings.
I took this video while Father Philaret was practicing on my last day there. Sounds so good!

Orthodox Funeral Toll
มุมมอง 17K6 ปีที่แล้ว
The slow, methodical ringing of each bell in succession represents the progression of a person's life as it expands and enlarges, cut short by death. However, the funeral toll does not leave us with the feeling of loss and sadness, but is always completed with a peal on all the bells, a reminder of our Christian assurance of eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven. It's very beautiful!
Beautiful! Christ is in our midst!
I can't find you online. I ring the bells at St. Andrew's in Arlington, WA and need some training. We'll definitely need more bells in the future because we only have three. How can I contact you?
I'd love to help you guys with whatever you need! Send me an email here: www.newcreationbellringing.com/contact

www.holycross.org/ Thanks to a very generous benefactor, a full set of thirteen Russian bells has been donated to the monastery for the belfry of our new church. They were made at the largest bell foundry in Russia and are perfectly tuned. 2020

Did these bells recently get restrung? I recall the SF set used to have 4-5 ringers
Hi John, yes, the video is from a reinstallation project I did there in 2018. This is the ringing system that Orthodox bells are intended to be rung with.
Constantine Stade it has a much gentler “Krasny” tone than I remember from that set
you have a good selection of channels about bell ringing. I recommend another one🔔 th-cam.com/play/PLPL_UM5UuWeYpdO-Yfu5ze2yzJDSgzvrD.html
How did you set up the 2nd and 3rd largest bells did you just tighten the string until it’s almost touching the side of the bell?
That's right! The post needs to be totally immobile.
Thanks. and is the angle of the string important? Yours is like 15 degrees. Our church’s bells are higher up and the angle is maybe 45 degrees. Also are there double knots? sorry for so many questions I like your setup.
Wonderful!
Nice!
