James kinda seems to be a dull person. Just a lot of yeahhh and cool. I get it he has no time but still it’s sad to see the avgn become a shell of his former self.
He's always been bad at impromptu stuff. Interviews and live events and things where he has to give an opinion on the fly have never been a talent. I assume a lot of it has to do with his autism. Mike and his old friends seem to be some of the few people he could chill with and come up with stuff on the fly.
I bet dude smelled rancid and he was trying have as little interaction with him as possible.
Mike put in way more effort to be gracious to this guy, but to be fair to James I guess would have had absolutely no idea how to talk to this guy either.

@@PrematureMailbox I wouldn’t hold anything against the guy, he was just excited to see someone he looks up to and clearly wasn’t a threat. I saw someone one day back in 2019 and it was at random so seeing the guy made me excited. I just wanted to shake his hand and he stood there speaking with me for 20mins and took a picture with me when he definitely didn’t have to. With such a following, I think this is to be expected; some people being overly excited. If I ever met James, I would honestly ask him, when did he become such a shill to ExpressVPN and I would offer him friendly advice to end AVGN as it had been long over due. He’s soiling what he worked so hard for by continuing the series.
The interaction is so awkward I think we tend to feel second-hand embarrassment for the kid, which makes it seem like James is shooing him away or being a snob. But he doesn't really, he's just giving very flat replies and saying thanks. He clearly want the interaction to be over, but it might just be out of discomfort or not knowing how to reply to somebody who seems a little, uhh, neurodivergent, rather than arrogance or any bad intent. It takes a special social skillset to vibe with somebody like this kid.
