Here's how I turned my cheap Mazda RX-8 into a time attack, track day car. It's reliable, slow and tons of fun!

RX8's are cheap, easy to modify, have a great chassis and suspension and make awesome track cars, BUT Can the Rotary handle the abuse? Yes, yes indeed!
2012 Toyota Tacoma Borla CatBack Exhaust

The Borla CatBack will fit 2005-2012 Tacoma models, and is available for other cab configurations (extended cab, and short bed versions) It has proven to provide the best gains in HP and Fuel economy, while providing a deep tone without getting raspy in the higher rpm's. I have found there to be no in cab drone.

Great production quality, and very informative, the rx8 has always been intriguing to me and is a dream car of mine. I stayed away from them due to their cost of ownership but hope to pick one up in the future
What size aluminum did you use for trunk? And sealant?
I think it was 1/8th? Not sure though. Solid enough that it didn’t flex or bend

oil metering pump delete and always pre mixing or oil metering pump adaptor to run 2-stroke oil. This is a good mod because you no longer need to compromise oil choice between good at lubricating and good at burning. If you want to keep the stock ecu you will need mazda edit or versa tuner to remap. Versa tuner has more features and better software but is more expensive. The second option is a stand alone. The only plug and play i know of is the adaptronic which would allow wideband and much more The standard catalytic converters fail. If you want something reliable which you can daily because it does not reek of fuel you need to go with a sports cat if you don't care go with a decat(when decating a remap is a very good idea because it can trip limp home mode). A decat would also require an air pump delete. Cold air intakes sound nice but the standard system is very well designed. I know k and n sell a system which gives you ~3 hp and costs ~400 dollars. Equal length exhaust manifolds are not as good as other engines since the renesis has a siamese exhaust port. It also changes o2 sensor location.
Nice job setting a new PB! on stock pads and suspension no less! Coilovers and proper pads will transform the car. Looking forward to seeing your progress

Ive always wanted to run a chopped bumper its got mad 00s JDM vibes from the honda days. and the rear end of the car can take it. be careful with aero balance with that diffuser and not having any front treatment. if you havent consider moving the battery behind the passenger seat, and running the AEM intake. it frees up alotta space above the radiator to help extract heat. it look slike you are running a decently wide tire and yes those shock are way under damped for car control. do springs and shocks first then dial in balance with sway bars. not the other way around. keep up the progress. its high time the rx8 gets some love and im seeing it more and more on youtube. If you havent start premixing oil, look at ditching the cat, sohn adapter and the S2 oil coolers are a direct upgrade.
you forgot no drag Inducing rear bumper in your thumbnail... easier to go faster when the rear bumper is missing all the parts that grab air....when speed holes aren't enough, cut the OE bumper to where it can never be put back to stock...
haha true the rear bumper is a sail! although a new one could be put back on to go back to stock, I'm not too worried about going back to stock! thanks for watching!

The channel might not be what everyone expects lol I’m actually planning to document the growth of my business and share entrepreneurial content, I’ve built a multi million dollar business and love sharing and helping others on that topic. But! Outside of work I’ll definitely share more automotive content. I just bought a sweet little jeep TJ to take my kids out for Sunday drives, so I’ll share a bit of that. I’ll take the RX8 back to the track again this year with a few of the new parts and see if I can beat last years lap times. I’ll definitely document that and I have much better filming equipment this year to do it, I’ll be sure to add the foot camera too! We also just bought a new property that I’m very excited to share, I’ll keep that a secret for now though! Thanks for asking and your interest! I’m really focused on the channel being for me to document my life so my kids can watch it when they get older, but viewers and subscribers makes it fun too!

an RX-8 on this track just feels wild. In my mind, people that can afford to drive on this track definitely don't own RX-8's ☠ But im glad to see one rip it on a great track!

Regarding the video's description, if you continue building it and the videos stay at this quality (a little longer would probably help too), I don't know how your channel wouldn't grow precipitously. This is fun stuff. Keep it up, and this might actually become a car channel.

Do you know what the part number for the muffler is? Or what the muffler model number is?
Borla uses different mufflers in the full "Cat Back Systems" than they sell individually. Borla claims they don't sell the "S-Type" muffler they use in the catback systems unless you buy the whole kit. So they tell me on the phone anyhow.

hey should check out my tacoma videos (2013 access cab 6" lift) looking for an exhaust/intake i think to see if will just get better gas milage. did you notice much difference in the sound/power/fuel economy ? and how much was the cat back exhaust if you dont mind me asking ? Omg your truck sounds EXACTLY like my 2011 F-150 3.7 v6!! Except my exhaust is still stock. Wonder what that exhaust would sound like on mine?
