    sure, that one exercise is the answer to *all* knee problems is a stretch, but the point of ATG split squat is to get the most bang for your buck. i’m able to eliminate a lot of other exercises by just focusing on getting good at the atg split squat & regularly sledding. throw in b-stance hip thrusts, unilateral ham curls, calf raises, and i still have room for adductor & abduction-focused exercises without feeling overworked or having to balance too many exercises

    • @coachpyry
      @coachpyry วันที่ผ่านมา

      The ATG split squat misses the boat on so many fronts mostly because of the horizontal movement. If you move horizontally as you come back up you take the load off the lead leg. Bye bye strength and hypertrophy stimulus. Doing your split squats in a way that keeps the load on the front leg the whole time is a much higher bang for your buck way of doing it.

      Not really, just to hit the back muscles. I assume you're thinking about the angle of the upper arm in relation to the body. If the angle of the upper arm is >45 degrees, you'll hit more upper back muscles, if the angle is <45 degrees then you'll hit more lats. Regardless, you need to have the intention of rowing towards the hip or else your row will go mostly to biceps and traps.

    Now that you're mouth taping, and most likely mewing WHILE mouth taping when you sleep. I'm very curious about the x-ray result🤔 cause a lot of people say that they see the biggest mewing result after they can do it while the mouth closed. Do you notice any change?

    • @coachpyry
      @coachpyry วันที่ผ่านมา

      Interesting question! To be honest, I think that the term "mewing" is very misleading. Mewing = tongue's natural resting position. Fully carpeted against the roof of the mouth, lips sealed. I won't do another X-ray just because I don't like the unnecessary radiation, but I feel a million times better. There seem to also be some subtle aesthetic changes but I think they're mostly due to sleeping better and looking less tired. What do you think?

    Just curious, were you a mouth breather before? And would you say you had a recessed jaw before? I’m gonna try mewing, I’ve been told the only way to fix my terribly recessed jaw is through surgery but I’m terribly afraid of the surgery. It can be kinda hard to assess people’s results because it doesn’t seem like a lot of people that make mewing content actually have the problem that dr Mew is describing.

      Hi there, thanks for sharing that. Yes, I was a mouth breather and still have a very recessed maxilla. I had orthodontics when I was a child, but unfortunately, they extracted teeth from my top row and did not focus on maxillary expansion. How old are you? I would get a few different opinions before committing to anything. Based on my understanding (not a medical professional or orthodontist), there are severe cases where surgery is the only way to influence the structure. However, there are many things you can do to improve the FUNCTION to improve your life quality. For example, you can to targeted tongue and upper airway muscle strength exercises to reduce snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. You can do breathing exercises to improve your nasal breathing ability. You can train your facial muscles and lose body fat to improve your facial aesthetics. Actually I made a video about this topic last week, I think you would enjoy watching it. th-cam.com/video/b94a9QUi08o/w-d-xo.html

      @@coachpyry I’m 30 years old, I’ve been to many orthodontists over the years and every single one has said that I’d need to have surgery. I’ve definitely improved my ability to breathe through my nose and I’m beginning to be able to sleep with my mouth closed. It’s way better for your teeth for your mouth to be closed when you sleep! I probably won’t be able to get all the way with mewing but if I can keep the results of whatever procedure I get from reverting I’ll be happy!

    Your head is tilted backwards in the second picture. Of course your profile is gonna look different. The top of our ears should normally be at eye level and in the second picture, they’re lower than your eyes. The simple truth is mewing does not work in adults. Once the mandible’s bones have stopped growing, there is no way to fix a receded chin without surgery. Also you don’t need to mew. Your profile is perfectly fine.

    • @coachpyry

      @@coachpyry Well, it’s not true that it doesn’t work. No entirely anyways. The mandible can be raised very slowly over time, but the amount of constant force needed to be applied at the roof of our mouths daily is way too demanding to be feasible for the average person. It’s possible to remodel human bones at any age. However, this process would take us 5 to 10 years to do naturally while it would only take a week with surgery, as unfortunate as that is.

      Aspartame man. Also, basically anything that is processed so far and has stuff like aspartame and other sweeteners in them can be cancerous, or CAN also spike your insulin secretion (not as high as glucose will do, but will spike them nevertheless in some people, not all, but is very good to not drink those artificial shit drinks). Also, in Europe we have things added to drinks and junk foods called "E-numbers" and those can be addictive so you eat the fucking whole bag of chips instead of a handful. So you buy another bag... Stuff like that is fucking horrible. The key when losing fat (not weight, fat) is WHEN to have the insulin spikes. You WANT an insulin spike when working out. Not when sedentary. Insulin is a storage hormane that can work VERY anabolic because it should be timed during or right after workouts. So it shuttles the nutrients into the muscle that is now depleted of sugars. The brain also needs sugars. So eating carbs is not bad at all. We NEED them, but we want to TIME the insulin spikes well! Carbs and sugars are NOT the enemy. But you have to understand the science behind what the hormones will do in return when they spike. Most importantly insulin and ghrelin. And yes, calories count! 100%. But it is also the timing and understanding of the hormones.

    • @coachpyry
      @coachpyry 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@diareegorgelaar Firstly, speaking of science, current evidence suggests that to experience any adverse effects of aspartame you would have to consume 50mg per kilogram of bodyweight per day. I weigh 87kg. That means I would have to consume 50mg x 87 = 4350mg of aspartame per day. A 330ml can of coke has 200mg of aspartame. So, that means I would have to consume 21 cans of coke zero per day to experience any adverse effects. Secondly, artificial sweeteners do not spike insulin. There is no evidence to support this theory. Thirdly, the only way to lose fat is to be in a caloric deficit. The timing of your insulin spikes makes zero difference. Daily and weekly calorie balance is what drives the show. I hope this helps to solve some of the confusion!

      Your body knows what sugar is, it regonices it and know how to process it. It does not know how to process artificial sweetners. Your body needs sugar, it does not need artificial sweetners. It's really quite simple. Just to clarify i'm not saying drink 21 cans of regular soda a day - just that if you drink soda once in a while you might as well drink a sugary one. Taste better and don't leave that sweetner aftertaste. And if add up all the products with aspertame i don't think it will be hard to reach the limit. Chewing gum, diet drinks, diet foods, protein powder ect. If you are someone who supplement their food with a lot of 'diet' products you will probably have gut problems, which slow digestion - which is probably not what you want if you want to loose weight/fat. Water is by far the best thing to drink for your body and if you sweat a lot at the gym/on a hot day and need to replenish your electrolites - the sugary soda one is the one you need.

After about 3 or 4 months it became automatic, and now I'd say I only wake up with a dry mouth once a week. For context, I have some sinus issues and mouth taping wasn't working as sometimes I got really congested during the night and woke up with serious case of oxygen deprivation :D Funny enough, jaw training has really helped with the sinus issues.

      Glad to hear you've been able to improve your sleep quality! I recommend a similar approach to getting used to mouth-taping. Try putting the tape on while doing your slow nasal breathing exercise, and then progressively slow down your breathing cadence even more. Work towards 10-second inhalations and exhalations. By slowing down your breathing to this cadence, you improve your ability to tolerate carbon dioxide in your blood. Improved carbon dioxide tolerance will reduce waking up with "oxygen deprivation". Actually, "oxygen deprivation" is not oxygen deprivation. The feeling of suffocation is caused by an increase of blood carbon dioxide levels above a certain threshold your body is accustomed to. You can increase this threshold with targeted slow breathing exercises and by becoming fitter aerobically.

    I just started mewing over the course of this month. I’m a 24 year old male and I know it’s gonna take a while to actually get some structural results, but the first thing I noticed real quick is I have a major cross bite (probably due to my poor tongue posture) but when I rest my tongue where it should go my teeth line up perfectly and I can’t clench my jaw or teeth grind anymore. My teeth are incredibly chipped and rugged from anxiety grinding. My fiancée also said my snoring has actually improved in a few days. I’m a bit skeptical about it changing my facial structure but for those minor improvements on their own I have no reason not to keep it up to see what happens.

      Thanks for sharing! Super glad to hear that your fiance is noticing the differences already. Speaking from my personal experience, fixing your breathing during your sleep is one of the best things you'll ever do for your relationship. Mewing is a great start, but targeted strength training for your tongue and the upper airway muscles, breathing exercises and sleep hygiene practices are the best non-invasive ways to reduce snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Let me know if you'd be keen to hear about the exercises I've used to improve my sleep and eradicate snoring!

    I agree with the sentiment that to achieve something great you must suffer and purposefully ”overtraining” slightly is the most effective method, but I think this video comes off a bit wrong and leaves the impression one should purposefully and continously aim for that state, while I think the message is not to be too afraid of that when you’re working for a strict goal or deadline. I think this is a topic that would be better expressed in like a 5min video, where you can go into more detail about the underlying physiological responses and the abovementioned nuances. Let me know if u need help ;)

    • @coachpyry
      @coachpyry หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the feedback. You're 100% on the money - you should not aim to be continuously overtraining. You will burn out, and results will halt and even reverse. However, you should purposefully aim to be in this state on the last week of your training program. I will make a longer video about this!

    Did you have the same body fat and life style in both photos? You clearly looks younger and better in the after photos. Maybe hard for you to tell. I’m just curious if this could be that you lost some weight or improved sleep quality, etc etc.?

    • @coachpyry
      @coachpyry หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! My body fat was about the same, but my sleep quality was from another planet. Better sleep makes you look leaner because you'll hold on to less fluid due to lower inflammation. You'll also look much more energetic :)

    To know if it’s actually effective, one needs to take a big group of people and make them new correctly without altering anything else in their lives. Most people that mew out there made a bunch of other changes that can and often Do alter your face. So it doesn’t work as imperical evidence.
