I Shall Be Released They say everything can be replaced They say every distance is not near So I remember every face Of every man who put me here I see my light come shinin' From the west down to the east Any day now, any day now I shall be released They say every man needs protection They say that every man must fall Yet I swear I see my reflection Somewhere so high above this wall I see my light come shinin' From the west down to the east Any day now, any day now I shall be released Now, yonder stands a man in this lonely crowd A man who swears he's not to blame All day long I hear him shouting so loud Just crying out that he's been framed I see my light come shinin' From the west down to the east Any day now, any day now I shall be released
American Queens! Thank you, this brings my heart home again - I miss this feeling in the US where we were all a community, a Nation united. We had our differences, we protested, voted, and lived useful, hopeful lives. I miss the love...it's all men with mindless hate and endless pockets, telling us what they're going to do to us. God bless everyone - I wish all the old hippies would run for office - we need this love back, I miss my country. xx
I was surprised when I saw this pop-up on YT....I would have never expected to see these three legends singing this song together. At the time I was just a kid, but I don't remember ever seeing the Mama Cass TV show back in 1969. My family would watch all the other variety shows back in the day, Smothers Brothers, Glen Campbell, etc.
3 of the finest voices of the era, even if it loses the original vibe of the song, the singing is balanced in harmony, devoid of any ego & so beautiful. Loved the version on Music from Big Pink, which was all in all an epic album, unequalled in its depth of a new genre of music
I never saw this on television, back in the 1960's, 😢 There was only television, or the radio back then,❤ I was a TV hawk back then,❤ I would have remembered this song, ❤ Beautiful, ❤
I wonder if being released is in the Gnostic sense - Unclean spirits trapped in goat, owl, wolf bodies project their situation onto humans who are in "the image of God" yet convince them they are the ones imprisoned. Satan himself was turned into an octopus... earth-bound and licking the dust (so he rides his cohorts)
This hurts my ears.
Wow!
What a grand gathering of singers and icons. Beautiful.
Never expected to see these 3 beautiful ladies singing together ❤! Dylan should be proud of that!
Three of my favorite female artists.❤️
❤
I’ve never heard these favorites of mine together. Goosebumps!!
A great threesome here for sure..
They're smiling at the sheer joy of singing together.
The three greatest voices of the 60s, all at once.
I wished they had replaced man with woman. That would have been gutsy.
Beautiful voices & harmony, but the musical accompaniment is atrocious.
We are so blessed to have lived during these musician’s heydays. I miss those days.
Wow! I have never seen this before . . . . . wonderful . . . .
cass and Mary and Joni perfect voices in perfect harmony together 🎸🥁🎹🎤🎻🎺☮️
I was born in 1969, and I loved all this music.
Mama Cass and Mary travers >>>>

Mama Cass, the most amazing woman from the 60s

Joni is Canadian, but I get your point. 😊
Trump is running & promised to end the forever wars..... pretty sure that makes him 10 million times the hippie Kamel Toe is. Just sayin.
I keep saying that here in the USA, we need NEW protest songs!! (If I had a hammer . . . .)

This is awesome. 3 brilliant talents in harmony right there.❤️🙏🎵.x
I remember the Band doing this in London’s Royal Albert Hall back in 19 71 and it totally blew me away.
The best surprise this year.
PLEASE I NEED TJIS ON SPOTIFY
OMG!!!!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!!!!!!!
holy smoke mary travers is hot, honey!
Got to love Mama Cass' rainbow dress, long before rainbows became so cliched.
Wonderful ...

This is so ❤
Best rendition ever
PERFECTION
All three drifted through Miami in the early sixties before becoming so famous.
REAL REAL REAL NO ARTIFICE AT ALL PURE TRUTHFUL ARTISTS

Mama Cass has such a lovely voice.
MAMA CASS' VOICE WAS EXTRAORDINARY. VERY TALENTED SINGER.
Great vocals. Kind of incredible that Richard Manuel sang it higher.
Heaven:
The bass is great on this.
good vocalists, really horrible schmalz band. TV kills.
I never knew this existed. Thank you so much for posting. ♥️

Cass was so beautiful and it shone from inside her.
These 3 beautiful women speak the truth still....men are the root of all the ills of this world!
Joni could have easily “upstaged” the other singers if she had sung in her normal beautiful high register - but she’s too classy for.that.
Mary is just stunning here
Takes me back to my childhood when i was 5 years old when i first heard it ..absolutly amazing
