It's September and it's time to get out for some exercise, this time a nice long stretch around the villages of Ruberts, Lloret de Vistalegre and Pina in the middle of the island of Mallorca. An opportunity to get used to walking again after a long hot summer and to try out a new camera.

Off the western tip of Mallorca is the island of Dragonera. The origin of the name is disputed but it is now a sanctury for the preservation and study of lizards. The island is accessible by regular ferries from Sant Elm and it's a very gentle hike from the landing point to the lighthouse and back again. Sitting quietly you are likely to find yourself surrounded by tiny lizards.
Cala Tuent with Wanderlust 07/092024

It was warm so we only walked from Mirador de ses Barques to Cala Tuent then caught the catamaran ferry back to Puerto de Soller. Mercifully there was a lot of woodlannd giving plenty af shade along the way, including for the Tai Chi stop.

A long 12.5km walk along the coastline from Cala Estreta on Mallorca up to Torre d'Albarca then back again through the forests. There was wind, rain, sunshine and clouds all on the same day

It started off grey and wet so the original plan was scrapped in favour of coffee. Then, after a long enough break for the rain to stop, we walked halfway to the lookout and then came back down to follow the goat track around the hillside above the Bay of Pollenca

Cap Formentor was rained out so we relocated to Puig Maria outside Pollenca for an hour and a half of climbing up to and descending down from the hermita there. It was blowy, so the little drone was struggling to keep steady

A walk on the flat through wine country on Mallorca. With all fallen trees blocking the paths in the higher ground this was an opportunity to get out and see some of the spectacular scenery in central Mallorca at the end of summer. It also gave me less things to fall off
