The Reformed Rookie seeks to educate beginners, or rookies, in the richness and beauty of the Reformed faith. We want to promote a solid biblical worldview that includes a God that is sovereign over all things and worthy of our worship. We seek to demonstrate the centrality of Christ in all things and to showcase his glory. We advocate an infinitely strong God and an impotent mankind. The Reformed Rookie promotes a high view of scripture as the only infallible source of authority, the doctrines of grace, and the five solas recovered in the Reformation.
The Water, Blood, and Spirit: Three Witnesses
Understanding 1 John 5:6-8: The Testimony of Water, Blood, and Spirit
In this sermon, Pastor Rich Jensen centered around the profound and often debated verses of 1 John 5:6-8. These verses delve into the testimony of Jesus Christ through water, blood, and the Spirit, and their significance in affirming His divine nature and mission. Here, we explore the key points discussed in the sermon to provide a clearer understanding of these verses and their implications for Christian faith.
The Foundation of Faith: Belief in Jesus as the Christ
The sermon begins with a reference to 1 John 5:1-8, emphasizing that belief in Jesus as the Christ is fundamental to being born of God. Loving God and keeping His commandments are intertwined, and these commandments are not burdensome because faith in Jesus overcomes the world.
The Testimony of Water and Blood
1 John 5:6 states, "This is the one who came by water and blood-Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies because the Spirit is the truth." - **Water**: Symbolizes the beginning of Jesus' ministry, marked by His baptism. At His baptism, the Father testified to Jesus' identity, and the Spirit descended upon Him, signifying His divine mission.
- **Blood**: Represents the culmination of Jesus' earthly ministry through His crucifixion. The shedding of His blood was necessary for the remission of sins, fulfilling God's plan for salvation.
The Role of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is introduced as the third witness, testifying to the truth of Jesus' work. The Spirit's testimony is crucial for the church's ministry and the believer's assurance of salvation. Pastor Jensen underscores that the Spirit, water, and blood together provide a comprehensive testimony to Jesus' identity as the Messiah.
Perseverance and Witnesses
Pastor references Hebrews 11 and 12, encouraging believers to persevere by learning from the examples of faithful men and women throughout biblical history. The "great cloud of witnesses" serves as a reminder to lay aside sin and run with endurance, fixing our eyes on Jesus.
In summary, this sermon provides a thorough examination of 1 John 5:6-8, affirming the testimony of water, blood, and the Spirit to Jesus' divine nature and mission. This testimony is foundational to the Christian faith, offering assurance and encouraging perseverance. For those seeking to deepen their understanding of Reformed theology, the podcast offers valuable insights and resources.

Simply Greg just butchered the whole book of romans when Paul is trying to bring together both the elect and non elect (pun intended) Jew and gentile 1-8 9-16 respectively so Devine predetermined includes child rape for his glory , even Calvin and the first generation of reformers and I will mention Augustine believed in unlimited atonement it took baza and Co in the 1600 some years after Calvin death to bring in limited atonement. Greg should have a Biblical approach to the text

Very helpful teaching. I wish I could better hear the comments and questions from the participants there though. Thank you for this post.
@@Lonesoul9791 I agree- I’m working on getting another microphone in the room
will it be possible to have a copy of this syllabi to be used in our bible institute?
sure- send your email address to reformedrookie@gmail.com
I got a chance to read Arminius and he rejected supralapsarianism no doubt. What i question is if modern Arminianism actually is his. The infusion of Wesleyanism and modern humanism has taken their free-will far from any concept 17th century minds would approve. Otherwise, great.
How can you win someone to Christ when they were destined to him anyway?
God ordains the means (evangelism) as well as the ends (their salvation). Is their salvation contingent on how well YOU present the gospel?
very good teaching......
Unusual. Questionable exactly what this was.
This whole debate can be summed up as this: White: Evidence based scriptural historical record to back up his position. Van Kleek: “Because I believe it.”
I still use KJV and use a strong concordance but I know we have different manuscripts like 1 john 5:7. I love that verse but it’s not needed to establish the trinity. James White has helped me under textual criticism. You know the Eastern Orthodox church uses Septuagint? I notice there some different birthdays in genealogy Masoretic vs Septuagint.
Evolution Theory is drug abuse....
Help! I can't be an evolutionist anymore!!! Is a joke... I admire the work of Dr. Carl Werner...is one of my resourses when I debate with hard evolutionists....
Very interesting
Thanks for the two rounds, are these powerpoint slides available for download?
I'll check- they're not mine
I’ve been looking for a resource about Jesus ruling and reigning now. There’s an eschatological view called “Satan’s season,” that has some momentum in my area. For that view to work, people who hold to it must suggest that Jesus isn’t ruling and reigning now. This - to me - would go against the role of the Christ to rule/reign, and therefore diametrically opposes what it means to be Christ - thus - is “antichrist.” Pray for me, as I will be meeting with a brother to point him to truth and away from a devastating error

John the Baptist tells us that Jesus will Baptize them with the Holy Ghost and fire . God is an all consuming fire . It's in the Bible.
who said it wasn't in the bible?

Who or what is God in John 1:1?
The Word was with God, and the Word WAS God- then the Word became flesh.... Jesus
Would “When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.” Matthew 10:23 be that similar view? That it is not about the second coming but a prophecy of the judgement of Israel? Because it clearly states you would not have gone through all the towns. And he is speaking directly to just the 12.
Where has the channel been all my life🥲 Thank you for the sound teachings🙌🏻
your welcome! and Praise God!
Good Morning! When will part 2 be coming out?

You'd better stay away from Calvinism, folks, as it's demonic, not Christian.
The UNINFORMED Rookie is a better description given the picture of the Tabernacle in the wilderness journey. The tribes of the Jews were very specific as to their following of God directives. They camped only true north of the tribe of Levi as they were north of the Tabernacle. The same goes for the other tribes camped around the Tabernacle no one camped in the areas northeast, northwest, southeast or southwest. If one were to view the camped tribes of Israel from a hot air balloon, what they would see is a very large CROSS!!!
There were no “Jews” in the wilderness. There were no “twelve tribes of the Jews”. Perhaps you need to get the history of the Israelites straight before calling the presenter “uninformed.”
Came for the content. Left because of the massive amounts of commercials. And audience interruptions.
You're still a mammal due to common ancestry. I tried listening but this guy is talking about anino acids and the origin of life.. but the title is talking about fossils Seens like he is confused Why don't you have fossils of corals etc forming? Because corals have a set of attributes that define them as corals. If you find a fossil that does not have all of those then obe dies nit recognize it as a coral. Hiwever, sSnce corals and their ilk are Cnidarians you can find fossils that are Cnidarian but not corals.
Who determined all of this to be the standard for of minimum to be Christian?
no one- these are REFORMED BAPTIST distinctions, not what you need to BE a Christian
@ shouldn’t those be the same? Or at least shouldn’t the “church” conform to the standard to be Christian and not conform to what a “reformed Baptist” is?
@@keithwilson9172 they should be the same but we have yet to attain the unity of the faith. And, there are acceptable differences on secondary issues- i.e. millennial views. I was addressing your concern about this being the minimum distinctions to be A Christian at all.
@@ReformedRookiemillenium beliefs Calvinism First day sabbatarianism All secondary issues To me, reformed is not accomplished until the individual and the church has completely conformed to the scriptures. So I believe in Semper Reformada. That said, I agree with everything in the 1689 minus first day sabbatarianism and because of that, many reformed baptists will refuse me to hold any official position in the church which in my mind destroys their standing as being reformed because their standard for deacons and elders has broken away from things like 1 Timothy 3 and has taken hold of the 1689
Is the religion the system of controlling Human?
no- its a way to be united to your Creator and avoid the consequences of justice. In the same way, we don't mess around with gravity and roller skate on the roof risking getting seriously hurt.
By 1563 England had already used the 1552 Book of Common Prayer which was explicity reformed. The 39 Articles are also reformed. As a former Reformed Baptist and now an Anglican Presbyter, I would suggest picking up Harold Browne's Commentary on the 39 Articles in order to understand them better and be accurate in your teaching.
"Tak for sidst" means something like "Thank you for the last time we spent time together" :) You might say that to a friend, when you see him the first time after attending his dinner party
I would pose that one cannot be Calvinist and not Reformed. They may called themselves Calvinist, but they are not.
I would reverse that- one cannot be Reformed and not be a Calvinist.... You can be a Calvinist and not be Reformed
Dudes hate faithful anyway
This is a little long but PLEASE read it: Some Preterists say "the anti-christ does NOT rule over the whole earth but just the nation or land (Israel), but the Bible again says, "And authority was given him over EVERY tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him..." NOTICE it does NOT say "Nation or land" as SOME say, BUT rather it says, "And authority was given him over EVERY tribe, tongue, and NATION (NOT just one nation). 8 ALL (not just some) who dwell on the earth will worship him..." Isaiah 11:6 says, "The wolf WILL live with the lamb, the leopard WILL lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child WILL lead them." This is a reference to a FUTURE time (notice the word WILL over and over) when the carnivorous nature of animals will be no more. From the time Adam and Eve sinned until RIGHT NOW there have been carnivorous animals. We know this has to be a reference to the Millennial Reign. AND there has NEVER been a time when this happened. It absolutely has to be FUTURE from us right now. Revelation 20:4 "And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." If this happened in the first century, what about the hundreds of thousands of Christians who have been martyred since the first century? It's just the Christian martyrs in the first century who reign with Christ for a thousand years? Oops, I mean forty years? Then I saw an angel...He laid hold of...Satan and bound him for a THOUSAND YEARS...Now when the THOUSAND YEARS; have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations...to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. If Satan led a revolt against Jerusalem (the beloved city) and God destroyed the rebels and cast Satan into the Lake of Fire FOREVER, and as PRETERISTS say, that happened in the first century, then we have lived on earth for the last 2000 years with NO SATAN. Then why is Satan called the god of this world? AND how can you say that JESUS CHRIST and the DEAD Christians are ruling, again, with no Satan and the world is in the mess it is in right now? And the Bible says it is going to get worse RIGHT until the end: 2Timothy 3:1 says, "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.." Not to mention we have a world with over one billion souls who are deceived and worshipping Allah, over one billion worshipping Buddha, over one billion worshipping one of the three hundred million Hindu gods, over one billion atheists, over one billion entrusting their souls to Mary at the hour of their death, LGBTQ, drugs, alcohol, child molestation and pornography, murder, rape, godless Big Bang theology, and evolution taught in schools and colleges, TV shows and movies that mock God and His Christ and anyone who trusts in and loves Him. Does this in ANY way, sound like Satan is bound and Jesus is ruling? Revelation 21:1-5 says, "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God (to the earth) prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” This says the New Heaven (atmosphere) and the New Earth are coming "DOWN FROM HEAVEN"..."Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” NOTICE it does NOT say, "These words are Hebraic, Apocalyptic language, but rather these words are TRUE AND FAITHFUL. Google "are metaphors true?" This is what you get: Metaphors are NOT literally true... Again, it says, "...these words are TRUE AND FAITHFUL." This is NOT some spiritual existence in Heaven. It can't be: It MUST be on the earth because it says, "...God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no MORE death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no MORE pain..." This means wherever this is, there WAS crying, sorrow, pain and death (NEVER was in Heaven) but now there is NO MORE crying, sorrow, pain and death. Have we had a situation like this on planet earth ANY TIME since Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden? Answer: NO AGAIN, this is a simple question: Are you spending eternity in the body you are in now? Are you going to continue to age? Will you get sick and diseased in eternity? Will crime STILL be rampant in eternity? Will murder and rape continue on throughout the endless ages of eternity? Will Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and atheism flourish in eternity? Will the LGBTQ community still be prevalent in the ages to come? I could go on and on, but you and I both know, ALL these things will come to an end at some point in the FUTURE. There is INDEED prophecy YET to be fulfilled.
This teaching is a blessing. Thank you so much for I am studying the Decrees of God.
Praise God! May you continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord.
@ReformedRookie Thank you
Yes, Dr. White is a brilliant and very experienced debater, few can stand up to him in that venue. However, the argument between the two views is that we know that we can get an excellent Bible from the Textus Receptus and the materials that were used for the KJV, and even if not absolutely as perfect as we could wish, they are trustworthy. On the other side, everything is primarily based on the Sinaticus and Codex Vaticanus B as the foundation of all modern translations of the Bible. However, those two manuscripts have been accused of possibly being forgeries of recent origin, rather than being the Oldest and therefore most reliable manuscripts in existence. They have been declared to be genuine, and the oldest manuscripts only by visual examination and textual analysis of modern critical scholars. They have never been forensically tested and examined to determine if they are actually older and legitimately representative of the original early autographs of the scriptures. At the time of discovery, these critical texts were involved in a controversy about their provenance and authenticity. At the time we had no ability to do forensic analysis on them, and so today we have several generations of textual critics and many modern translations that have been published (and $old) based on (potentially) corrupted and spurious manuscripts. These documents should be submitted to analysis to find out the truth. Regardless of the outcome, that is the best way to end the argument. 🙏✝️👑✝️🙏 Edit: Those interested in this issue should watch the documentaries A Lamp in the Dark Tares Among the Wheat and Bridge to Babylon by Christian Pinto and Adullam films available on the Roku channel and Tubi. Especially the last two films. Dr. White is in Bridge to Babylon and seems to have a tougher time than he does in debates. Not only do these videos go through the issue in detail, but also gives great insight into WHY we have the problem and why it continues to be a problem in the Church. Watch them, you'll be glad you did.
absolutly agreed. this what you mention is the issue. it is interesting that they are afraid to death to test the manuscripts. the whole critical text industrial complex would fall like a house of cards.
After two hours of that juvenile nonsense and intellectual deficiency, nobody would have blamed White if he got up and walked out. I’m not a defender of his often, but my goodness this was bad and insulting to any thinking person in that room. Van Kleeck should be ashamed of himself.
Van Kleeck seems like the guy who thinks he’s smart because he read some of the material in school just enough to pass the test but didn’t actually understand the subject he was being tested on.
But continues to talk to people like he’s an expert when in reality he never fully grasped the concepts himself but is too prideful to realize it.
Are the staves to always be in rings of the Ark of the Covenant because God has not rested from his work with man? Exodus 25:15; Hebrews 4:9
No one is a born sinner. Sin is something that we do. True everyone has sinned but wasn't born a sinner.....the soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.....everyone will face judgement when Christ returns according to their own actions only how they have lived themselves only.....if someone is born a sinner from birth, then do babies and children who die go to hell because they were born a sinner??
Psalm 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from birth, speaking lies.
@ReformedRookie they go and they do. They were not born a sinner its something they must go and do. Is a baby a sinner?? Sin is transgression of the law, until someone can understand and know for themselves what God expects from them they don't commit sin.....use common sense that's why God gave us our brains, that's what separate us from animals....
They go astray, it's something that they do, not something they are born with. Is a baby a sinner?? Sin is transgression of the law. Until someone is able to understand for themselves what God expects from them they don't commit sin. Little children don't understand so are they sinners??
@@Humblestudent04 Lions crave meat because they're carnivores- sinners crave sin because they're sinners by nature- we are all born with a nature bent toward sin. If babies aren't sinners by nature, then why do some die? The wages on sin is death....
We were created in God's image. Is it God's image to sin?? We are all responsible for our own actions only and will be judged according. Cannot use excuse we are born sinners it's our nature to sin. God gives everyone a choice. If we were born sinners and it's our nature then that's not our choice....
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the father and the son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine do not receive him into your house nor greet him, for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds....the doctrine of Christ is the only doctrine that matters. Jesus said, he who rejects me and does not receive my words, has that which judges him, the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.....
This is eternal life that they may know You, the only true God, AND Jesus Christ whom you have sent. John 17:3.
@ReformedRookie and this is the testimony that God has given us eternal life. And this life is in his son. He who has the son has life, he who does not have the son of God does not have life....eternal life is in Christ not in ourselves. As long as we abide in the doctrine of Christ we have life in Christ now. When Jesus returns judgement our resurrection, that's when we are resurrected unto life and have life in ourselves like Christ our final salvation event
@ReformedRookie hi God bless I’ve been studying exodus and Leviticus and I was wondering if you’ll be kind enough to share your note? Great teaching by the way. Very simple and practical and profound. I enjoyed that you don’t try to go to deep to find a super deep revelation but you do make connections which is nice
There is something wrong with Kleeck.
Strait out simple, clear understanding of who Jesus is, the way the only way to the Father. Preach it my friend, God’s word has the hope of every believer, but it must be read and followed. Read it, study it, live it.
