    We are all children of God. But separated from him by sin. We are accepted back into his kingdom through repentance and saved by grace. But we can always loose our salvation if we sin. And one can have faith and still be in sin. I hope you're not making an argument for once saved always saved.

    I think it's important to maintain the distinction between the regulative principle of worship and the normative principle of all of life as those terms have been used by the Reformed historically, i.e., the way worship is regulated is not the same way the rest of life is regulated by scripture. In the RPW, very specific activities are commanded and only those activities are to be done without variation. The normative principle allows for the application of scriptural principles to a whole host of things that the Reformed have historically referred to as indifferent, such as what lawful field of work to enter, what color to paint your house, which grocery store to shop at, etc. The normative principle allows for a range of potential activities as we apply biblical principles. As we seek to obey God's law, use biblical wisdom, and thus please and glorify him, we do so in light of our providential context, which includes our sex, family situation, culture, God-given abilities, weaknesses, interests, etc. Thus, there will be differences in the specific actions resulting from the applications of those principles. Of course, the law of God does not change, and certainly in many ways living according to it looks exactly the same in any context, but sometimes its application does look different depending on one's circumstances. In contrast, the specific activities prescribed for worship are fixed and must always and only be done in every church in every context. There should be no variation in what we do in worship as there is in what godly Christians do in the rest of life.

    guys, this episode has blessed me so much. I was really struggling with Lordship Salvation and when looking to myself and my fruit I was questioning my salvation. I had never questioned it before I was lead to study reformed theology. When would I ever be "good enough"? Or on Varsity as you stated. Literally so distraught because I feel like I was just constantly failing and disappointing God even when trying my hardest to see my fruit. Yes you will produce fruit but like you said the fruit isn't the tree. It's such a blessing to be able to hear someone reformed speak of faith in this way because its usually Arminians. This is what He means when he says my yoke is easy and burden is light. Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus.

    The trinity does not exist because ALIEN, UNKNOWN to the directly concerned Person: JESUS. He reiterated throughout four gospels to be ONLY IN THE COMPANY OF THE FATHER (who is a spirit), NEVER with two Persons! Thus, we are sure that NO THIRD DIVINE PERSON EXISTS. For example, the following verses are INCOMPATIBLE with the existence of a triune God "I am not ALONE because the Father is with me" or "The Father has not left me ALONE because I always do what pleases Him.". The trinity theory was formulated later to bring together the different currents of thought about Christianity that existed at the time. Its goal was to put peace and uniformity of thought in Christianity - good for the roman empire - NOT to respect the Truth. That theory was negotiated between the different parties until an agreement was reached. That is, the doctrine of the trinity is only a CONVENTIONAL (i.e. false) doctrine issued in a first form by the Nicaea CONVENTION. It was not understood that the gospels disclose just three divine NAMES, not three divine PERSONS! The "Spirit of God" (AKA "Holy Spirit") is simply "God (almighty) who is a spirit", i.e. no "helper-God" person exists. That old conventional doctrine sets out EXTREME nonsense regarding an invented "substance" which is supposed "to form God-Persons"! When you have one "substance" forming three different Persons, it logically ensues that the alleged ONE God can only be that one "substance", not the three Persons. Further, from the gospels you can very easily READ that (A) NO THIRD GOD-PERSON EXISTS: for ex. "those who will believe in me through their word so that they all may be one, as you, FATHER, are in ME, and I in YOU. THEY also may be ONE IN US..." and that (B) THE SON IS NOT ALMIGHTY as the Father: for ex. ("the Father is GREATER than I"). In this time of IRREVERSIBLE DECLINE, only TRUTH can save Christianity: that doctrine should be dismissed.

    Early church Christology and the formulation of the orthodox language about Christ and Christology is very interesting. First Constaniople did rule on Christology and that the Word assumed a full human nature. Against Apollonarianism The president of leader of the council of Constaniople, Gregory of Nazianzus', famous statement "What is not assumed is not healed." Also Chalcedon is an affirmation of a particular understanding of Cyril of Alexandria's Christology. He first used one nature language for Jesus Christ against Nestorius in order to affirm that Jesus is only one subject (the Word). There is not the man and the Divine word.

    A inquiry from an outsider to your religion: do people who hold to a young earth and a six 24hour day creation because of how they read Genesis also hold that the description of all the events, creatures, places and personages in Revelation must be held to just as concretely?

    • @reformedbrotherhood7448
      @reformedbrotherhood7448 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question. Generally speaking, no. The two positions are not necessarily tied together. There are some who hold to a "wooden" or "literalistic" method of interpretation that tends to avoid any kind of symbolic interpretation of anything. However, most recognize that different books and sections of Scripture are written in different genres and so must be interpreted in light of those genres. Genesis, including chapters 1-11, is written primarily as a historical account. Revelation itself says it is a symbolic book, so most Christians who read Genesis 1-11 as historical (Young Earth 6x24 hours) would interpret much of Revelation (especially after chapter 3) as largely symbolism.

    The Essence-energies distinction, as expounded by Gregory Palamas (which is dogma in EO: the councils of Constantinople 1341, 1347, 1351 & 1368), is in conflict with the classical Latin doctrine of divine simplicity, because the multiplicity of divine energies is posited as uncreated yet really distinct from the divine essence. The title of this video is misleading. The ad intra-ad extra distinction has been the common one in the West, or even rather the Creator-creature distinction.

  • @stayyoungmyfriends

    • Jews(including the Prophets) in the Old Testament did not believe in or teach about a triune godhead. • Two people sharing the same human essence, two human beings. Two people sharing the same Godly essence two Gods • John 1:1c contradicts the Trinity doctrine. The Father is not the Son according to the doctrine • I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that just because “our” is used in Genesis 1:26, that must mean God is triune! Why not 4-in-1, or 10-in-1 or 100-in-1 etc.? • Trinity doctrine is far from clear from scripture, relies on way too much reading into scripture(inferring).

    My contribution to the directory of weird things that Jesse and Tony have said: Episode 210: "There's a lot of modularity with a bathrobe." - Tony. Really the whole bathrobe conversation was a winner. Jesse was clearly taken off guard: "This hit me in a couple of different ways. It's possible that I lost focus at least part way through because the question that came to my mind is, Are you rockin' a bathrobe often in the mornings???? ... Well... so... I'm not sure... is that a common experience????" Classic. But the modularity comment definitely has to be in the directory!

Also, I love my RP brothers and I’ve been attending a Reformed Presbyterian church (RPCNA) for 3 years, just wish they would only allow me to become a member. I would love to see this dialogue go further between the two camps. It’s frustrating when our position is not understood by our brothers, it makes it impossible to have a meaningful conversation on the topic, so thank you for the effort. Well done!

    Matthew 7, 23. Was Ravi a doer of lawlessness? Yes. Philippians 1, 6. Did the holy spirit transform his life into the image of Christ? No. Did he continue in sin? Yes. 1. John 3, 9. There is no sign of Ravi fighting against sin. Ravi was fighting to conceal his sin. Romans 1,5. True faith is visible, because obedience is making true faith visible. And so is disobedience making visible true unbelief John 3, 36. The conclusion of this verses is clear. I highly recommend Matthew Bates book "Salvation by Allegiance alone.
