1776 is a good show with memorable musical numbers: "He Plays The Violin", "Momma, Look Sharp", and "Molasses To Rum" to name a few.
I agree!
Don't forget 'Sit Down John!'
Fun Fact! Did you know the Declaration of Independence was actually signed on August 2nd and not July 4th! Not a lot of people know that, but we just learned that in my history class! Hoping to see more content soon.
Yes! We love that!
My husband and I just returned from seeing Daniel. We have seen other productions at Sight and Sound Lancaster but I must say Daniel is my favorite thus far. Spectacular and Spiritually insightful. I love that the gospel is always presented. Blessings to the good folks who put on these productions.
I love that! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
That seems to be the big thing now which is to some degree bashing Method acting, saying it's good but not to the detriment of the person. So not true. Every field, position there are those who want to do better than good. Bring it to another level. And yes, sometimes it cross's over into real life. That's with anything. Method acting doesn't teach that. It does teach to try and create brilliant characters, but is individual in what that means. Never does Method acting say to get drunk to feel how that feels, or drugs, it's to find substitutes. It never said to gain weight if playing someone heavier. Robert DeNiro would do that, but that was him.. His choice. Daniel Day Lewis spent a year as Lincoln , in character before shooting. No one said an actor should do that. Strasberg's method acting I would say is the most complete. Meisner technique is brilliant, but mainly on the level of being truthful, honest, reacting. Strasberg used everything. Sadly, when someone who doesn't know tries to define method they say using personal experiences through sense memory/emotional recall. That's not true. Emotional recall is one exercise that is taught, but Strasberg always said it's when nothing else is working. But he used everything, including script breakdown, character work. He would do improv's, animal exercises (to create character), song and dance (for the internal to meet the external), He kept on growing, it was never just one thing. One technique.
Thank you for your thoughts!
I am a director but also a massage therapist. I teach both theatre and Reiki. I am amazed again and again how energy work and acting overlap!❤
So interesting! And so true!
Because I had the opportunity to see this wonderful production, it has made me excited to read my Bible. Thank you Sight and Sounds from the bottom of my heart.
We agree. Our theater does the same thing. We live in such a visual society it is amazing to see the Bible come to life!
If you're working in film and television, you probably won't meet your costars until shooting day.
So true! I have no idea how they do that!!!
Sorry I was referring to the film
Oh!!! Ha! I agree with you!!!
😢too long
So sorry! We had a lot to say!!!
Do you have an online class?🤗
Thank you for taking the time to make this video♥️ We have seen Daniel 3 times this year…being that my son-in-law is one of the men playing Daniel. I cried when you showed the footage of just walking into the theater. It’s a moment that never gets old. The entire atmosphere is captivating and God is so present in this building. I love how much you loved it!! It’s truly a life changing experience. The worship that happens in this theater is powerful and authentic…everyone around me just sat in their chairs stunned and overwhelmed in the Spirit when the show ended. My son-in-law is truly the most powerful man of God I have ever known. To be gifted by God with an incredible talent as well as an anointing of evangelism makes for the perfect Daniel in my opinion! (Nothing against Jacob)What a blessing to see God move on the audience as He did. My daughter is in the cast as well so as a mom I was over the moon watching! But the presence of God was so tangible and I’m excited to see it go into theaters this Labor Day!! To God be the Glory!! Be blessed!♥️
This is amazing! We did indeed love the show and the whole experience! Thank you for sharing about your daughter and son- in-law! I’m sure they know how they are blessing people, but learning about a few more fans never hurts!
I wonder how factual this production is? Does it end with Daniel IN HIS 80'S in the Lion's Den for example? Focusing upon him as a young man only would NOT be good enough to me.
It is very factual for having to cover that much Biblical ground! It does go all the way through the Lion’ den!
As my own daughter embarks on a journey in drama and the arts, I was reminded of Mr. Perry. My deep dive into Google to find information on him led me to your video. Inspiring and honest. I was a graduate of KHS too and Mr. Perry’s passion was a great memory.
Thank you so much for writing! I think it is amazing that you found me and that we have that connection! Do you have any information on what happened to Mr. Perry? Also, I love that your daughter is also involved in the arts!!
I would like to take your class. Is this class available in online
Feeling inspired by this book review
I love that! I felt the same way when I read the book!
loved it, i love straight plays.
Amen, this is sad that this is what is happening, I only watch old movies these days because of this very issue. I hate being manipulated by the Prince of the world
Amen! He sneaks in, doesn’t he?!
I knew there was something special about this cast when I saw the show! I could truly feel God’s presence throughout the whole performance, and it was a joy! Now I can see why with these cast meetings. 😄
I can’t wait until I have another cast that is just like this!
नमो बुद्धाय।
I saw the TikTok and watched the series as well, which made me start watching the tv show and on the tv show there are girls who show their faith etc. I think there are pros and cons to their system but I worry about the girls who have eating disorders to try to stay thin. I also think the judges could do better at facials during auditions. I think all directors, music directors, etc could be better at that during the audition process. I get that some people may not have any talent, even in their pinky toe but it’s not a reason to be unkind. It’s hard to audition and put yourself out there so I would say that’s my two cents.
I agree! We can all be better at the facial reactions! Also! I do agree that it is dangerous to tell someone that their body can never change! There must be some mental stress in a situation like that!
This was not entertaining
Oh! I’m so sorry! You didn’t enjoy it! Thank you!
This movie really was amazing! I cried the entire time!
We agree! So inspiring!
I loved watching the performance of this on the Tony Awards this year. It seemed very much like "The Greatest Showman" choreography to me! So fun and catchy.
So fascinating that when something is a recreation of a nostalgic thing, that some things will hit it on the nose and other things are too divergent to enjoy fully for our brains and hearts. Id love to see the tech for the car on this one!
Me too!! Do you think you will try to see it when it comes to Chicago?
So interesting when you say that the 3 actors in this show have brought it so much popularity. It makes sense.. I would not be drawn to research this show if it wasnt for the combination of Lindsay, Jonathan and Daniel.. all of whom I really enjoy watching! Now that I hear a little more about the plot of thr show, I'd love the chance to see it sometime.
It hits hard, I think! I wonder if I would have liked it as much with a different cast? I’m not sure!
I read this in high school, I think. I haven't seen it, but I really enjoyed the performance on the Tony Awards this year. The fight scene was so dramatic.. it seemed like very clean choreography made even more dramatic by the lighting. Looked intense!
The director pulled so many interesting elements into the show! It was fascinating!
Hi Jessica!!!- samantha
Thank you for your kind words! It's our joy to share these powerful stories with you, and we hope to welcome you to our theater again soon!
We enjoyed it! We hope to visit Branson this fall and then do another review at that time! We’ve gotten so many positive responses from this episode! We are hoping we are spreading the word for you!
NO, this show did not come about because Universal saw another cash cow. It's all because Bob Gale (and Bob Zemeckis) own the remake rights to the IP. Universal is DYING to get a new movie made. The Two Bobs refuse. This was the compromise for two reasons: 1) Fans could get their nostalgia fix; and 2) Bob Gale could have a job again. (He's mysteriously been blacklisted from Hollywood.) For someone who runs her own theatre, your opinions are - to be put it bluntly - boneheaded. By your logic, if Olivier's "Hamlet" was your first exposure to the play, you'd never be able to appreciate Branagh's?
Thank you so much for you opinion as well! My husband certainly agrees with you! I’m going to have to go back and rewatch the edit. I don’t believe I said they were DYING to get a movie made and at least that’s not the way I meant it! Thank you for pointing it out! People have certainly disagreed about my opinions on this one!!!
@@fromthewings2020 My point was not about you using the word "dying" or not. Your take was 100% correct about the studio wanting to exploit its catalogue - except in this unique situation where they were not the ones in the driver's seat. Another note: it was not clear from your video if your issues with the actor playing Marty was because he was not Michael J. Fox-enough OR because he was doing his own thing in the way that Bart was as Doc.
Ooh I have to disagree about Roger. He's the reason why I have seen the show in both London and NY. I even choose specific seats on the left hand side of the front row to get a good look at Doc's gyrations. 😄 It is true that he differs quite a bit from Chris Lloyd's original, but I really like his style and his voice is amazing.
Thank you so much for sharing! I obviously missed something esp because he got a nomination! I’m so glad you enjoyed him! It is wonderful to hear what other people thought!
I'm going to see this show tonight so this was such fun timing to find your lovely review! It's been over 15 years since I've been to Sight and Sound and I'm so excited to see Daniel.
Oh my goodness! I’m so excited for you! Let us know if you like it!!!
The show looks fantastic. I don't understand I went on their website it's not even listed as a show during their season. You just put this up 3 weeks ago. Any other links to maybe the show?
They sadly have now rolled into their next production Pilgrim’s Progress. They do travel with their shows and I promise I’ll let you know when/where they bring that show back!
Could you do a video on Once in a Lifetime and what it's about?
This is the first OTP show I’ll be attending, and I’m thrilled! It’s going to be great!
I love that! Make sure you say hello!
I agree. We do need to be vigilant investigators before we watch something. Many years ago, I got fantastic recommendations from friends to go and see the movie: the piano. (It even had Academy nominations). That was a big mistake. I had to walk out of the theater. Thanks for sharing!
Great example! Thank you!
Iam the biggest ,biggest biggest ,biggest fan of Narnia. My favorite prince Caspian and the voyage of the dawn treador
Then you must find a way to see this production! It is fabulous!
@@fromthewings2020 i have the DVD my laptop video player doesn't work.
No offense this whole review a little weird and a little condescending and comment about stature of Daniel lead actor should have been left out.
Oh I so sorry. We gave that impression! We never meant to be condescending! I thought he was so impressive and that’s what I meant to portray! I’m also sorry you thought the review was “weird”. What could we have done better? Thank you so much for your thoughts!
Going in June first time seeing Daniel, and first time back at Sight and Sound since before covid 2019. May the Lord bless those who have the chance to watch it and may it lead them to the cross to know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior🙏
Amen! I know you’ll have a great time!
Thanks for sharing this review. I’ve heard of the movie… now I need to go see it!
It's so good! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
ok.. and where is the content, everyone already knows? What about asking the right questions?
I’m sorry. What do you mean?
This is and will always be my favorite theatre-related topic! Really enjoyed this video. Apologies in advance for the long comment as I really love talking about this as a theatre fan/audience member! Some Swings also double as Understudies for certain principal roles and I can only imagine the hard work it takes to learn and remember so many tracks/roles. Standbys are sometimes also credited as Walking Covers, and this seems to be more the case for UK-based productions but I could be wrong! I have seen certain onstage actors be credited as Standbys for a lead role too, which I think is interesting. and there are also Alternates, who generally are performers that regularly step in every week or so to perform while a lead gets a show off (there is usually an Alternate Christine in Phantom of the Opera) but the term may be used differently for different shows/productions. For instance, the Alternates in Six (West End / Broadway / US Tour) are primarily standbys as far as I know, though I think the UK Tour cast may have the scheduled shows off, during which an Alternate (or Super Swing) might step in. Some productions also have Universal Swings who cover/swing across different productions of the same show. Six (West End & UK Tour) has a Universal Super Swing, who covers all six roles in both the West End & UK Tour (both productions have their resident Super Swing too), and the Broadway & US Tour productions of Six have a Universal Alternate, who covers four of the six queens in both the Broadway and US Tour productions. There are also Vacation Swings/Standbys in certain shows who I believe are brought on to cover/swing for a certain period of time. In many of the shows I have been lucky to see in the past year, there have been swings/understudies/standbys/alternates who were on and I really appreciate what they do! (I know I mentioned Six a lot. The UK production's IG account posts professional photos of the Alternates & Super Swings as well as the onstage principals when there is a full cast change, and I think that's amazing. Also, the Six Australia account is revealing the full company for their upcoming tour very soon, and in the lead up they've included the Swings in the cast reveal teaser posts, which is really great to me!) Just to add on too, NCL Cruise productions (for shows like Six and Beetlejuice) have/had Rehearsal Swings who swing certain roles during the rehearsal process but do not join the onboard cast later when they go on the cruise. The Six Australian Tour in 2022 also had an "Alternate Swing", who was also in the company in a non-performer role and served as an additional swing to provide more coverage.
Oh my goodness! You gave us so much information! Thank you for sharing all of this! It is so fascinating this world of people who don’t get nearly enough credit for what they do! Thank you for helping us know more!
Daniel was the first production I ever saw at Sight and Sound many years ago. I’m glad it’s back this year. I’ll be going in July
Did sight and sound lie? They said this was the first time doing it.
@@blairdavis592They didn't lie. Yes, they did Daniel before back in 2002, but this Daniel is completely new. New script, new costumes, new wigs, new sets, new music, new songs. They basically designed this Daniel from scratch. Whether they have elements taken from the original or not, that I don't know (I was 2 back in 2002). But even so, it's taken from Scripture so there's bound to be similarities between the old and new. Hope this helps! Blessing in Jesus our Messiah!
Wow it looks great, wish I was able to see it from Australia! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! Maybe we can convince them to travel!!!
Having seen many Sight and Sound productions, please take my advice and make plans to see DAVID when it opens in Branson next year. I consider it the most perfectly crafted show they've ever done and honestly, I can't imagine them ever topping it. Absolutely epic, intense and beautiful on all levels. You'll never regret it!
Agree with everythingyou said! "David" was amazing.
Will do it next year for sure. Have never been disappointed in any product and have been to both theaters.
This is a great clip, but i had to laugh when you said "the guy who played lincoln," - how can you be conducting an acting interview and not know his name is Daniel Day Lewis!!! Thats like talking about basketball and saying "that guy that played on the chicago bulls in the 90s." 😂
Lol! You are so right! And of course I knew that, but had a terrible brain pause! We should have fixed that! Thank you so much for pointing that out !
Great job guys!
Thank you so much!
Awesome!!!!
Have you ever seen one of her shows?
@@fromthewings2020 my wife went yesterday and somehow got the times mixed up, so she missed the performance. They came over to hang out after but we hope to make it one day! Naomi is the best!

Have fun! I went to David. I was in a happy daze after i watched it.
really? I would have loved to have seen that one!
So loved this movie!!!
Im studying Stella now… I heard that Stella HATED Method, and if you mentioned it in her Class she would probably throw you out… I also heard after Marlon Brando was with her he said later that he was a Method Actor, and when she heard that, she BASHED him in her Book!!! She was a TOUGH COOKIE!!!!! lol
That is crazy! I had not heard that!!! I think I would have been a little too frightened of most of the teachers back then!!!
And I’m not saying she’s Mean or anything, I think we all know she just takes her Teaching Very Serious!!! My Teacher is Teaching her to us starting next week, and she was telling us about her.
I love that so much! Have you read any of her books?
'After I had some success, Lee Strasberg tried to take credit for teaching me how to act. He never taught me anything. He would have claimed credit for the sun and the moon if he believed he could get away with it. He tried to project himself as an acting oracle and guru. Some people worshiped him, but I never knew why. I sometimes went to the Actors Studio on Saturday mornings because Elia Kazan was teaching, and there were usually a lot of good-looking girls, but Strasberg never taught me acting. Stella did -- and later Kazan.'' - Marlon Brando
