Couple of thoughts. One, what an awesome Skenes! I've been trying to get one from online auctions. Love Jackson Chourio - I've got a bunch but most are base cards. And third, and maybe the most importantly...is that a pack of Garlic Infused Chompers on your background? Because if it we need to go bass fishing! Have a great holiday.
I’m still shocked a card of that magnitude was in a retail hanger, all of my Chourio cards are also base…..and good eye on the Chompers!!!
Hangers are bangers
Indeed they are!!!
Nice Lil box
Trout to /75 was a nice add to the collection for sure.

Good job on the video. Enjoyed it
@@CHASINGTYWILSON thank you for taking the time to check it out!! It’s truly appreciated!!
It's bittersweet selling on there. If you have something in demand, it will sell. Downside is, I just sold a $900 card the other day and my return was $762 after fees and shipping. Ebay directly took $128 for themselves just for one card that I own. That's called usury in my book. Greed. They write the rules and they funnel your profits right into their own pocket. How much better we could all be doing on there if this wasn't the case. During Covid they dropped that percentage they take from you down to something like 4% which was much more reasonable. I'd even be fine with 5%. The roughly 15% they take is crazy. And honestly, I probably won't sell anything over $100 on there ever again. There are other routes. I'd actually like to see the revenue through fees they've pulled from our collections since the beginning of 2020. Jesus, for sure, would have walked into eBay's headquarters and flipped some tables over. That's all I'm sayin'.
That $900 would have gotten you even less in a card shop setting though, I don’t know what the better alternative is at this point.
I thought the Pedro RC was the 1991 Upper Deck Final Edition.
@@jpmnky both cards are similar in price in a PSA 10, either one can be had for under $50.
Prospect cards are the most volatile out there, especially pitchers. But I 100% get why people are going nuts over it. It was a pitcher that got me into prospect collecting in 2010, Steven Strasburg.
@@jpmnky if I pack pull the pitchers I don’t mind holding a few, but generally I don’t buy them individually.
Why is my eBay standard envelope ~$1.35? Yours is 69 cents?
@@nomoreshiny must be in your settings, I have another video with a screen recording of exactly how I change my settings for 69 cent shipping! Thanks for tuning in!!
not trying to be a negative nancy, but you strictly pulled comps on base cards of 10’s rookie pitchers and wax rookie pitchers. theres hardly any value there.
@@shaynetheprophet3417 I think you missed the point. I looked at “base” rookies because they are the easiest for the average collector to obtain. You say there’s no value there, but we compared rookies of iconic HOF pitchers against iconic HOF batters from the same time frame. Ken Griffey Jr. and Randy Johnson rookies even came from the exact same set, with the same print runs, and yet Ken Griffey Jr is worth FORTY TIMES more than Randy Johnson. I used PSA ten AND raw card value, I’m beginning to wonder if you even watched the video in its entirety…...
@ yes because Ken Griffey Jr. is 40x more popular and desirable than Randy Johnson. That has nothing to do with the card print. I’m not a fomo buyer either, but Paul Skenes is living up to his hype for right now. He’s the best of the best already and he’s a rookie.
@You should collect what brings you joy. Randy Johnson, Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw and Jacob Degrom are all elite. Kershaw is the only one that has held any long term value, and he’s worth about 1/3 of Mike Trout and Albert Puljos. The point I was trying to make, is that if you’re looking at these cards as “investment”, premium position players that slug will be a “safer” buy. They drive the hobby much like Quarterbacks drive the football card side of things. An elite QB is generally a better play than a WR or RB would be if you’re “investing”. If you aren’t concerned about value or ROI, it doesn’t matter though. That’s why I say, collect what brings you joy. For instance, I have a decent PC of Cole Kmet, he’s local to the area, went to my favorite college team, and plays for my favorite NFL team. He’s a no brainer for me, but not an investment.
You’re counting on the listing you copied having all the item details correct. I have found many times details are wrong from the listing I copied. It’s about 4/5 minutes to list it yourself and then you are guaranteed the listing details are correct. Been selling raw low end cards since 2019. Most sales under $20. But I get it. The biggest struggle with selling on eBay is actually listing the cards 😂 good video though. Some days I list 0 and some days I’ll get 20 items listed. Depends on the flow 😂
@@beliedat2457 I probably need to pay a little closer attention, but I do scan the listing details. I am trying to list more consistently, it seems there is a little more traffic on my items when I’m listing on a regular basis.
Ebay is what killed it in the 90s in the first place. At this point, the "graders" are the ones making money off all this nonsense. Breakers are basically a casino, nuff said. But at the origin of ALLLLLLLLLLLLL this exaggerated nonsense spending big bucks on coveted cardboard confections is when moms of boomers threw away their sons whole collections EN MASSE. And prior to that, a lot of the boomer kids used cards on their bike spokes to make noise.
I appreciate the comment. People have been collecting cards for quite a long time. I’ve been ripping wax since 1985, myself. I don’t think the hobby is going anywhere, and a market correction like we had in the early 90’s could be looming but that doesn’t take away from thrill of opening packs for me.
@searchingforsportscards7127 they pay to get them graded because they dont trust each other and as it turns out, you cant trust the graders either. Greedy & incompetent.
Your straight forward honest approach in a industry full of slick talking sharks is refreshing.
@@michaelthurman5879 thank you for the kind words!!
Ebay is the only way to go. I do both auctions and BINs without offers. If someone is really interested in the card, they will send you an offer anyway. Auctions typically get less, but there are outliers that will shock you on the upside. BINs take longer to sell, its a trade off. I have found through about 8000 sales that it's about a tie overall between the two. Some cards are better for auctions, some are not, usually depends on the Player. Brand name players do well at auction because of the name recognition, more bidders.
8,000 sales is absolutely tremendous!! I try to keep 30 to 50 active listings at a time; sounds like I need to step it up 😂😂

I clicked on this based on the Title of the video, immediately went full screen and thought I was watching a hostage video. Glad you're ok. LOL. Great video and advice. I don't do football but moving Ohtani, Betts, Judge, and Soto are always safe bets to maximize income but the way those teams are built, they will be contenders for years to come and may be cards to hold for a couple more seasons as their stock goes up in price. I had a lot of Pena RCs, hate the Astros, and wish I saw this advice when he won MVP and dumped his cards when his cards were hot. Got yourself a new follower.
@@kenfett7070 i just film in my basement. It doesn’t look great, but that “bunker” is my bunker. 😂😂
Can’t believe that’s only a $10 card.
Never use tape. Use team bags or other self sealing sleeves if needed. Or use card savers instead of toploaders.
@@KetchumAllCollectibles nothing wrong with painters tape, in my opinion. I have used team bags in the past, and just picked up some more. Now if you use clear scotch tape, then I’m just angry about it….
@searchingforsportscards7127 no tape is ever needed or excusable imo. Lots of people use painters tape but it looks bad, is lazy, and can damage cards still
@@KetchumAllCollectibles never once seen a card in a penny sleeve, in a top loader get damaged by painter’s tape. Do what works for you.
@@searchingforsportscards7127 The problem is blue painter's tape can dry out and be difficult to remove and leave behind a sticky residue on the top loader, had that happen recently and it was a pain. FROG TAPE DELICATE SURFACES(Yellow) this is best tape I found at Lowes, I use it for comics mainly(it's terrible for painting though). Other option is Scotch Painters Delicate Surface(Purple) this tape is decent, little harder to remove than the yellow tape.
In my experience if it's legit painters tape & not a more sticky blue tape then never an issue & have seen raw paper cards left unscathed. Personally outside of ESE I like to use a rubber band around my cardboard slats but do have painter tape if needed. it's the clear tape that still blows my mind & true test of whether someone is going to get continued business or not. Painters tape used to hold cardboard slats together or put over top of a semi-rigid is issue #99 out of 100 issues so would have to respectfully disagree with OP & agree with the video host. Much Love, Stay Safe, & Collect Cardboard!
I use eBay primarily as well but also use my slabs and fanatics collect and Alt. The other sites are a lot harder to move stuff but I really want to sell as much as possible elsewhere since they have lower fees. We have to put pressure on eBay to lower there ridiculous 15-16% they end up taking. I believe Fanatics now offers a 6% fee on cards listed within 120% of their fair value price.
Also whatnot ap seems to be a hot spot to sell cards. Live auctions starting at $1 do quite well. Just about to venture into that myself. Looking to up my low end selling. Been on eBay since 2019.
@@beliedat2457 I’m not super interested in having to go live to sell, it just isn’t something I can do consistently enough to gain a following.
Just sold a card for $90 plus tax and shipping. I ended up pocketing $77.19. Small discount for top rated seller. LCS would have given me $50 at most.
I’m a top rated seller how do you get the discount?
Same with tax, shipping, fees & suggested promoted listing fee it's about 40% off by final. So if I want to break even including shipping I add 50% to my price paid for the card thanks to fees. So $50 card gotta be at $75 just to break even not counting time. But if you play it smart & patient you can do well which i need to get better about. Just turned a Gerrit Cole rookie bought week ago for $35 into $150... Baseball has been hot for BINs & Offers for me last couple weeks
Thx for the video

@@jimbobrobertson3285 I just can’t see a better way to move product at this point either.

ITS ALL JUNK WAX NOW! FROM 2020-2024 IS ALL GOING TO BE WORTHLESS IN ABOUT 10-15 YEARS. EVEN THOSE RIDICULOUS "PARALLELS" ARE GOING TO BE JUNK AND WORTHLESS.
I think you’re partially right in your assessment. Low numbered cards and autos will probably hold some value. Base cards are dead though,
Bro stop buying sports cards and fix your house 😂

Cmon man. U can tell that's a basement.
As a 30+ year non -sport collector…best advice….selling cards when there hot…baseball….makes sense…but holding onto worthless cards will only take up space in the years ahead…I’ve held on to CASES of non sport cards….im glad I finally sold them…but it took 25 years ! Best of luck!
@@richardlaino1079 I could stand to sell a few more, I give a good bit away to friends if they are players or teams I know they collect, but the accumulation of cardboard can get a little overwhelming at times.
Wait! A TH-camr that tells what they actually made on a card? I think you just broke some kind of unwritten rule. 1st time watching your video, very nicely done. I’ll be back!
@@johnnym415-rn3ct thanks for the support. Never understood the secrecy around TH-cam or eBay.
Most TCG shops will scale it, 50% for modern, and generally 60-80% on rarer stuff that will sell super fast. The more liquid the card is to their customers the more you should try and haggle for. The way i'd look at it is, will this card sit in their case less than 2 weeks, will it sit for a month, will it sit for 3 months. That's a great way to tell value+demand. If your card store is just 50% on everything that's a bad shop, and their glass is most likely pretty stagnant. Also find out their value metric, one store I went to would try to buy at USD prices in Cad, and then sell the cards for the Cad prices. To that 50% buy is much less than actual value, I never sold a card to that store.
My LCS is a great shop, but those are the averages. Of course a hot card is more negotiable, but those are general guidelines. Point being, eBay is pretty much on par with the averages.
Good video sir. I recently started eBay and use Mercari as well. But. eBay is better
group up some $2-3 cards to make $10-$20 lots to sell. Will work out much better for you when you consider your earnings per hour.
@@theboringchannel2027 might be worth considering. I don’t generally buy cards in lots, so I’ve tended to only list singles. As for the earnings per hour aspect, I do this in my down time, and wouldn’t generally be doing anything else during that time so I don’t really worry about the time too much. If I start to sell in volume, it must be considered though.
Hey there, you mentioned $0.69 for standard envelope. How do you get that price when a stamp is $0.72? Also, are you sending it untracked as a regular 1st class letter? Thanks for the insight. Always looking to learn from others.
@@MorrieLow if you purchase your shipping through eBay you can ship a “standard” envelope, up to one ounce and .25 inches thick, for .69. It does have limited tracking capabilities.
@@searchingforsportscards7127 oh ok thanks for the info. I realized I’ve been listing my single cards at 3 oz so I’m overpaying for the standard envelope shipping. Thank you!

50% at the LCS if you sell to them, and then how much do you see their cards listed in their showcases vs. comps?
@@denny_cards they’ll usually take the last three comps and average it out. In theory let’s say the last three sales were $35, $29 and $40. That averages out to $34.66. They would likely offer $17.50 and it would either go to their eBay store or the display case for $35-$40.
Damn, I think I got a few of those Peña cards from you.
It looks good in a SGC which is why I send in to SGC. Don't like PSA .
I’ve never sent cards in to be graded. I would rather spend my money on the actual cards. However, I am considering sending in to SGC some vintage first black baseball players in MLB. I just think for that set of 20 or so players that I would like them in slabs, as I already have a few of them in slabs, including my 56 Jackie Robinson. I store my common sets in binders and the Hall of Fame players in the sets in top loaders in the same binders in four to a sheet holders. I like the way that I can look at them anytime I want without needing to shuffle and touch all the cards.
@@Vintage_Dave_T SGC is a great way to go with vintage
Not too many collectors now.
@@Hobbyrants I would disagree with that statement. There are a lot of us that collect, we just aren’t nearly as vocal. The flippers are what we see because they’re always trying to move product.
@@searchingforsportscards7127 I'll rephrase. When tons of 40 something yr old guys got in the hobby in 2020, its was to grade and make money. The reason I say this is before the pandemic, no one was grading at the level now. Most collectors that I knew prior to the pandemic would never send their cards in for grading because they were scared they would get lost or damaged. End of story that's why grading was so low prior to the pandemic. It's all a game of hot potato with 90 percent of cards. I started a channel complaining about the state of the hobby.
