      Make 4 wraps instead of 3, use the two centered instead of the 1..

    It's very validating to see you do this. I came up with this same system for myself. I wanted to use it as an alternative to the tire on the swing I made for my daughter. I can't wait to see her reaction when I add this to my arsenal of options I can carabineer to the 50 ft Amsteel line I have threaded through a cambium saver over a branch on our Chicago side walk. Thanks! ☮️❤️🌈

    At 1.59 you mentioned a butterfly knot but you didn't come back and show how you did that in more detail as you did with the bowline. Pity really.

      What they call a butterfly knot is more commonly called an Alpine Butterfly or Alpine Loop. They did an earlier video here. th-cam.com/video/z_9kMw7M6XY/w-d-xo.html

    A butterfly knot is NOT the same as an Alpine Butterfly - you are demonstrating an ALPINE BUTTERFLY

    maybe I'm not understanding something here, from where I'm from we call all those knots an ALPINE KNOT not butterfly.

    Love the two-tone rope! Interesting, I've only heard that the load (rappeller or climber side) should be close to the spine, not the brake side. Also, it's not that the Munter isn't "strong" when holding the brake strand up, but that you are engaging the minimum amount of friction or braking. With the brake strand down, you engage maximum friction or braking, so less grip strength is needed on the brake side. Great location, and I like the use of both outdoors and a second look up close indoors.

    Thank you for such a NICE video. Could you make a video on using Prussik Knots for climbing a single rope. I've heard that you can attach a rope to each foot & have the other ends to Prussik Knots in front of your face on the suspended rope, and a safety rope sling around the body, also to a higher Prussik knot on the suspended rope, enabling a person to literally "walk up a rope". Back before I retired, some of the electricians, I helped train, were talking about some of their rock climbing experiences, & that was one of them. Having a Grandfather that was a Merchant Marine, that taught me a whole lot of knots, before he died...I was 12...He invested me with stuff I've used for a lifetime! I like to see other people tie knots Pappy taught me, so long ago. THANKS,!!

    I thank you for doing such a clear & precise teaching video! I wish the actual application on the trailer had been closer up, like some of it was, but other than that, it was PERFECT. you spoke of variations of the knot...if you throw your half-hitch around BOTH pieces of rope, instead of just one, it adds more tension, when you pull it up, plus it turns it into a "Merchant Marine" knot making it much easier to untie & secures the rope coming up from the underside of the Load, then by passing the end one time thru the little half-hitch loop and throwing one more half-hitch it locks in the whole application, but doesn't take any time to do it....I liked your video. I wish you'd do a video on how you make & upload such a perfect video. I'm an old fart, & don't know how to do it, but if I did, I'd upload a BUNCH!!! Thanks!

    @drivesthecar3247 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    During the second method you said create an X in the rope, that is completely unnecessary, just make three consecutive loops on your hand and finish exactly the same. ;)

      This is an extremely useful knot, it's basically making a loop that won't come undone. So you can use it for stepping/lashing other ropes to the knot/securing cargo.
