DBMotoRepairs - Motorcycle repairs & engineering.
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 30 ก.ค. 2022
I run DB Moto Repairs in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Since my early teens I’ve been riding and repairing motorbikes. I’ve now been doing it for over 30 years and motorcycles are still my absolute passion.
I qualified in motorcycle repair and maintenance at East Yorkshire College, supported by Honda UK, specialising in electrical diagnosis and repair. I went on to become an apprentice machinist at a motor engineering and reconditioning workshop. In my twenties I moved on to manage a full scale motorcycle repair and workshop and raced a TZR125.
I set up my own workshop in Thirsk carrying out almost any repair from simple servicing and parts to full scale engine rebuilds 2T and 4T, single to multi cylinder.
I own a variety of road and track motorbikes, some of which I have rebuilt, restored and tuned and I race a TZR250 and GSXR400 videos of my racing are here th-cam.com/channels/6gYcp05tWDSBNCr90yLOEg.html if you fancy a watch.

Kawasaki Z400 back to life!
This Z400 came in to us as a non runner after many years in storage. We've worked through it too get it running again, and back to a roadworthy condition so the owner can start on the cosmetics. It'll be interesting to see it turn back into a tidy bike now!

มุมมอง 7106 หลายเดือนก่อน
This GT had flooded it's engine and carbs with fuel after the vacuum tap failed and the carb valves couldn't hold the petrol back.. a very wet engine and exhausts, 8 ltrs of fuel drained out before we sorted the issues and got it going again.

Lovely looking bike and very underrated in my opinion. I love mine and its a great stylistic compliment to my LC for longer rides.
Really lovely smooth bike to ride, some bikes do just work!
How do I setup my rd200dx carburettors 1980 my 250 and 400 setup are ok to do and all done any help will be appreciated
Grande máquina com uma exposição excepcional ❤❤❤
You can't beat that sound of a two-stroke I had a couple of 350lc's back in the day
Hello, very beautiful zephyr. I have a blue one. Mine doesn’t works correct it hasn’t good iddl and also don’t works on high rads. What exactly was your problem with the plugs?
What an eclectic mix of machines, you're obviously very experienced in what you do to have all those different types in. Shame you're not near me in South Lincs.
@@bandidol200 thanks for watching, we do get quite a variety through the workshop! We have customers from all over the country,, a few miles isn't an issue if you ever have anything needs working on 😁
Thats such a cool workshop 👌💯
I had one in 86,i put microns on put new jets in the carbs but it was temperamental, like yours, but when it behaved itself it was a little cracker, thanks for this video ✌🏼
#1:25 . Mainly 3 cylinders were out, 😮!!!!!!! Go figure it's a 2 cylinder engine
Awesome 👌
This makes me miss working on bikes, gorgeous Yamaha. Did you even kick it or just lean on it ? It fired up like it was ready to go, thanks for sharing ✌️🇺🇸
That's the trouble with pattern parts. It's a lottery. Got a referb kit for my GS550 starter motor. I had to file some contacts down to fit in the plastic isolaters, just can't get OEM anymore 😢
Grampian who rebulit the crank please? I have a RD250 crank I need doing.
Stunning bike! Sounds perfect and sounds like my youth. Just recently finished a 1977 250D, not ridden it yet as I live in Rural Devon and the roads are more suited to an adventure off road bike. It’s pitiful, but there you go.
Enjoyed the view. very nice bike! I was suprised to learn how different the 200 was to the 125 especially with electric start.
Hi how far are you from me I live ip28 7qa I’ve got a rd400f 1979 which is a pig to start and ALLSPEED exhaust system on it
Hi, we're in Thirsk, Nth Yorkshire. A lot of bikes come into us via courier, it's usually the cheapest way as they can share a journey with another bike. If you want to have a chat about having the 400 looked at please check my webpage dbmotorepairs.co.uk
Had a RD 250 in the same colour, great bikes.
I liked the one with the coffin tank lovely blue colour
Just finished the restauration of my rare RD 400 C with original spoke wheels. Rediscovered the joy of riding after spending a lifetime on many powerful super bikes. This small machine brings a smile every time I ride it. You can “make use” of the entire machine and I find more pleasure than on the bigger bikes.
Same here, had many bikes bikes over the years, recently picked up a yds7 250 predecessor to the RDs, had the exact same bike in 1972 as a 17 year old I just had to have it, reminds me of my youth, 70 years old now but I always say no one knows how old I am when I put my helmet on.😂
Bought a blue one new,was awesome
I had an RD200 which developed a similar problem (dropping to one cylinder) just before I part exchanged it for a 1981 Z550A2. It was running fine when the dealer agreed a price, so he was non the wiser when I dropped it off a week later and rode away on my shiney new 550. I tried to get it running properly again beforehand, but nothing I did made any difference. The RD200 had a combined generator/electric starter, which didn't seem to work well in either capacity.
Nice job👍
Beautiful machine. I had the silver and black 250 and then a 400 in that blue. Sounds pukka ticking over there👌 That's worth a few bob that one in that nick 👍
Had a red 78 DX - amazing bike but it new and had it for about 8 years before I sold it to a friend.
what a beautiful ole girl
Had two E models, lovely bikes, so tempted...
@@Spondoodikins they're great fun to ride, just make you grin as you make loads of blue haze on the road 😁
Stunning
Had the 250 version..great machines
I always loved this colour, and styling..gorgeous
Very nice bike that dough justbout of interest what sort of money is one in that condition worth now still 10k plus?
I would expect so, they're still a high price bike and sought after..
@@dbmotorepairs you do some great work mate enjoy watching the classic bikes you work on would love one myself if I ever got another bike
That's well nice 🤟👍
Hy there, just a quick question. What kind of air filter do jou use? I have the same bike, fully restored but cant find the correct air filter. Thanks
Try Yambits, double check first for your model but I think it's this one: yambits.co.uk/rd125-1980-air-filter-p-62696.html
Thats my Dreambike !!! realy whant a RD400F !! specily in this color lovely !!
Takes me back as a kid everyone suddenly had them from250/400 lovely bike
The only 250 that had the starter dynamo was DS-5E
Beautiful exhaust note👌
Noice, gotta love a RD400 what an absolute classic
Lovely classic bike,
Fck you talk a lot😂
This was a great video! I've done a rebuild on a 1972 R5C and having much the same problem with the spigot mount Mikuni carbs (much like the ones shown on your bike here). They were carefully rebuilt but I'm wondering if I got the right parts as you've discovered. Same problems with way over rich, over oiling, fouled plugs. Work to be done for sure, but this video helps. I'll check out Yambits.
@@steamboy101 if you need any info please feel free to ask.
I had a similar bike in 1984 (1978 version) the dealership said it was fine, but it was lacking power, so i took to a local mechanic to decoke it, whilst doing the job, he noticed issues with the crankshaft, i told him i only had a month left on the warranty, so he advised don't put oil in it, basically blow the engine, which i did, the dealership had to fit a new crankshaft and a total engine rebuild under the warranty, but i made sure i never mentioned my local mechanic, after the rebuild it was a totally different bike, the full 17bhp, nearly 80 mph on the flat roads.
Beauty 🎉
Exactly the same problem and is driving me crazy, can't figure out what's wrong. Please help
Good job !
👍
I made some comments on this video which after watching it again were untrue, (l must've been in a v. strange mood) so l've deleted them. Apologies.
Thank you 👍
Beautiful!
Lol, i learned how to ride a motorcycle on a GPz 350. Had a trunk/strorage under the seat.
Is it just me or are the bikes from when I was a youngster back in fashion?
Definitely, the bikes we barely looked twice at 30 years ago, they're about as cool as it gets now!
@@dbmotorepairs seen the price for a clean RD350 these days!! 😂 😂
@@darrenpriestley01 Indeed, I worked on one just this week the owner bought for over 10K, who'd have thought that would ever be the case! I don't ignore how lucky I am to get to test bikes like these though, the 1100 was an eye opener, really great bike for the early 80's.
Cool bike 🏍 😎
