FIDDLER ON THE ROOF -- Behind-the-Scenes of the Cast Recording
L'chaim - to life! The official cast recording for Fiddler on the Roof is coming later this month (digital August 9/physical August 23)! Take a behind-the-scenes look in the studio as our cast records "Traditsye" ("Tradition") from the album.
For tickets and more information, visit www.FiddlerNYC.com.
A New York Times Critics’ Pick, Fiddler on the Roof “strikes a deep emotional chord” and “offers a kind of authenticity no other American Fiddler ever has” (The New York Times).
With direction by Oscar and Tony Award®-winner Joel Grey, this production “speaks to us all” (Newsday). It has been hailed as “a richer, deeper interpretation” by The Wall Street Journal, “a mitzvah” by Time Out New York, and AM New York gives it four stars, calling Fiddler on the Roof “perfect.”
Harold Prince, the legendary and original producer of Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway (1965 Winner of 9 Tony® Awards, including Best Musical) says, “If you have seen Fiddler before, you must see this production because it will make you feel you are seeing Fiddler for the first time.”
In Yiddish with English and Russian Supertitles.

WHY would they translate a FAMOUS musical into a language that MOST Americans WOULDN'T understand? Is it like when anime fans LOVE anime, but DON'T UNDERSTAND A THING about Japanese? I mean, at least that have subtitles. That Or you know about this musical ALREADY, but watching it in it's ALT language!

Why don't they teach THAT in high school?!?? Wow! I would have loved it! Germanic and Semitic roots and the Jewish cultral components! How rich it would be! What a way yo learn about your self through seeing others in their own eyes ❤

I came from Florida just to see this production and I am SO GLAD I did. Saw the last performance... words cannot describe how wonderful it was on so many levels. Added bonus of going to the final performance was seeing Joel Grey on stage and meeting the man who translated it into Yiddish 50 years ago and singing Happy Trails To You with the cast. I just bought the CD and cannot wait to listen to it...... please, please I hope this goes on tour so more people can see it and appreciate it. We as Jews and the world need something like this in our lives right now.

izzy4reel I spent the past 30 years trying to learn as much Yiddish as I could, based on a knowledge of German, partially acquired from courses and the rest from spending a year in Germany -junior year abroad program through UW ...But it’s like impossible to find speaking partners...I am 54 years old...and have Parkinson’s. It was extremely hard traveling to NY to see this ...I understood every word!! I also was crying from beginning to end...and I also cried at the ground Zero and many other times, since then. Thank you to all who were involved in Fiddler afn dakh and to all the wonderful welcoming friendly NYers, who have little to do with the old stereotypes, which couldn’t be more wrong....If you are a Yiddish speaker then please get in touch with me, if you are up to helping me practice this truly wonderfully rich with expressiveness....I would welcome your call.
