Miguel Bonal | The Viola da Gamba: an Overview · MarchVivo
The viola da gamba was a central instrument in Baroque music since its origin in the bowed vihuelas of the Aragon Crown. The theorists of its time claimed that it imitates the human voice, as the bow has a stroke almost as long as a person's normal breath. Works by Hume, Telemann, Marais, Abel and Bach are performed herein, illustrating the different stylistic conceptions of the viola da gamba in each country.

"Every Sunday at 12 I go to Baron Van Swieten's house and nothing is played there but Handel and Bach", Mozart wrote to his sister and his father Leopold in April 1782. Following the fugue form of the masters, Mozart sent his sister the three-part Prelude (Fantasy) and Fugue in C Major KV 394 which opens this concert, the programme of which reflects the concern for and appreciation of the estab...

Pepe Rivero | Cuban Trova on Piano · MarchVivo
At the end of the 19th century, the activity of the troubadours of Santiago de Cuba forged the so-called Cuban popular neo-romanticism, giving shape to the so-called Vieja Trova. With the triumph of the Revolution, sentimental lyrics gave way to the political commitment of the Nueva Trova. Pepe Rivero illustrates in this concert the constant search for a connection with folkloric roots. 00:00 P...
Manuel García: chamber opera I tre gobbi · MarchVivo
In the last years of his existence, tenor Manuel García composed for his students a small corpus of salon operas in which he transferred the genre to bourgeois apartments without renouncing the aesthetic and technical ambitions of Rossini's lyricism. Having already presented two of these (Le cinesi and Il finto sordo), the Fundación Juan March and Teatro de la Zarzuela now add I tre gobbi, the ...

Vicente Amigo said that the voice of Pedro El Granaíno "was born to bring people together". His career has been late, but he has had an immediate impact. His metal voice is reminiscent of Camarón, but his expression is similar to that of Enrique Morente, also from Granada. This live recording is one of the few available of this flamenco singer. 00:00 Soleá 09:34 Granaína 18:13 Seguiriya 27:05 T...
Moreno, Bohorquez & Krupiński | Penderecki: Polish Requiem and Sonata No. 2 · MarchVivo
The death of composer Krzysztof Penderecki in 2020 was defined as the loss of the "last great Polish composer". In writing his Sonata for violin and piano No. 2 he claimed a "return to the sentimental", in defense of the "beauty of music". A new dialogue with the past is also reflected in his famous Polish Requiem, of which two movements in arrangement for trio with piano are heard here. Krzysz...

Olé los dos❤❤
muy bien !!
wonderful music to mark the beginning of the weekend
Gorgeous.....BRAVO from Mexico City!
A nice collection, and quite expressively performed.
The instrument sounds amazing. The harpsichord is overpowering particularly during the pizz sections. Fantastic performance!
Incredible performance. Thanks for sharing
39:30 jazzy
Bravo, maestro
Touched as always!
I'm looking for a "resume" of that unknow and delicious musical jewel !!!!
Increíble, Alard.
Splendid, but why the pianist turn his back to Andrea, it's amazing?!
The pianist is blind, so no point in looking at her when doing music. Just listening carefully. He is so talented et (so she is too)
The works by Manuel García, who was the father of renowned mezzo-sopranos Maria Malibran and Pauline Viardot and a prominent tenor and composer himself, are so exciting and delightful every time I come across it. I am so excited to see another version of this piece performed during the Bel canto Opera Festival called Rossini in Wildbad in 2019, besides the famous Le cinesi, El poeta calculista and Il califfo di Bagdad. Moreover, it's icing on the cake with English subtitles. I hope that not only Manuel but also more works by his two daughters will come out of the bookshelves of the hoary libraries covered with dust to shine in their natural splendor and be loved by the public for many years to come.
Dear Federico, at the Fundacion March we staged several chamber operas by Manuel Garcia. You have available all of them in the Playlist “Chamber Operas”. Have fun
@@marchvivo ¡Muchas gracias! 🤣😂

Now this is the reason I browse on TH-cam - to hear and see something that will never be live in Columbus OH!

One of her gifts is her ability to make anything she sings or plays seem easy and enjoyable. Lets us listeners imagine we could do the same, when that's obviously not the case!
She just gets BETTER !!!
Intrigues I would be so fun to sing this, working out the parts/tonalities (Tenor/countertenor). But I think it will take some time before the average concert-goer really learns to hear Nystedt's voice.
My dream/wish/utopia+, Andrea, is to hear/see you jam w/Renato Borghetti...would you +please..? (so nice)
What a beautiful dialogue between guitar and violin!! Fantastic playing by both artists!!
Viola actually
@@homesanto Thanks for pointing that out, great sound.
Fenomenal Concierto. He disfrutado mucho. Enhorabuena a los dos!!!
Phantasm was based at the University of Oxford from 2005 when they were appointed Consort-in-Residence. In Autumn 2010, they began a new association as Consort-in-Residence at Magdalen College, where they performed, recorded, and collaborated with the acclaimed College Choir. Phantasm have also making regular appearances for several seasons at the Wigmore Hall, appearing a total of three times during the 2017/2018 season. In 2015, Phantasm moved its base of operations to Berlin, Germany, where director Laurence Dreyfus plans the consort's activities and pursues his own independent research in musicology, performance studies, and music analysis.
So brilliant was its concert that we will have no other option but inviting them again at the Fundación Juan March. No choice!
Pure pleasure on a rainy Sunday morning.
Miguel, wow, bravo!
Delightful music and excellent performance! Thank you!
Really fun music to dance to
Absolutely love Ignasi’s piano playing! Such a beautiful empathetic swing and so smooth and melodious!! And matched with Andrea’s vocal and trumpet stylings belie her young age!! Thank you to both artists 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
If you like Ignasi’s piano playing, then you will love this video (now accomplish an harmonica doing more Cole Porter): th-cam.com/video/BVLZ-HDaDSk/w-d-xo.html
As always from MarchVivo interesting music! This Viol Ensemble is super.
And evidently melancholia has existed for a long time in our civilization.
Your work is excepitional, I realized it demands a lot of time, isn' it?... Beautiful!
Music-making at this very high level is always demanding, but you also need talent and a original performing conception.
Brilliant and thank you! Love the way the lutenist has decorated cadences ornaments and little fill-ins, and the amazing part adds impetus to all pieces … you cd. compile a little history of Jacobethan England from the dedicatees

Those that love her performance (as we do at the Fundación March) will be happy to know that there is abogue video of her on this channel performing Russian music
Good to know!
Very, very nice. Thanks for posting!
More early music is coming soon on this channel (but not only that). In the meantime you may want to have a look at more Dowland music: a video by Davies & Dunford
Wonderful, refreshing take on Baroque piano pieces!! Inspires me to practice.... Baroque instrumental, MY FAVE!!!
This is wonderful. Byrd singing his joyous tune passed down through the centuries to a receptive musical presentation. Am I in heaven? Cheers
Delightful!!!!!!!!!
One of the best on youtube
That’s very encouraging. We’ll keep feeding this channel with the finest videos of live concerts from the Fundación March. Thanks for your words.
So beautiful
