I did exactly the same thing and my internet is slow as a turtle!
Too short video but good
"Promo SM" 🤩
This is all wrong. Lmao. Dude really used a potato peeler
Absolutely nasty
How much did it make?
we ran the fuel pump out of gas... and the shorty headers and exhaust are causing a bunch of back pressure. we had to dial it down to 336hp 337tq at wheels until the issues are taken care of. we did hit 400hp at one point tho
Thanks for posting this. I've been wanting to get a gradient strip for a while - but also been torn between DIYhue or that. Good to see that both are possible!
I must say I have seen so many things done wrong here, the rubber boot should be fitted before cleaving as not to damage the end of the fiber, the yellow rope is Kevlar and should be cut with Kevlar scissors as a fiber splice myself
did you read the description?
No didn't need as a teacher was using a a learning video pictures speak 1000 words
@@vk2lq the very first sentence of the video description states: this video is not intended for technician training. That's kind of an important statement to read. this video was recorded to help a customer fix his own fibre during covid lockdown. The video was recorded on my passenger seat of my van with tools I was able to hand the customer. The customer was successful in his first attempt with a light reading of -14.8 Did you not learn to RTFM?
Thanks Tristyn!
Where are you from
Fort McMoney AB.
Wouldn't it be better if you do the termination in the video and not above the actual video
IS THERE A LINK OR DO YOU HAVE A ONLINE STORE?
these are professional supplies provided by my employer. AFL FASTConnect Mechanical Connectors. This video was to help a customer get their service back running during covid restrictions, and is not intended for tech training.
Hi Men, is a TV o monitor? In case is a TV, the led strip only connect to esp or i need sync box?
PC monitor. Hue sync PC app
Google: diyHue
is there a way to use it but with more then just the 7 segments?
please get some better gloves
please read the description...
@@TristynRusselo Hi Tristyn, I don’t understand your reply? Your gloves look far too big and a hinderance. I wear gloves when working with Fibre, but they are tight fitting with breathable backs.
@@over-engineered I made the video using what supplies I was able to give a customer. I normally don't use gloves, they are a hindrance and should not be needed as there is no reason to touch the fiber optic core
A friend just received their fiber optic internet installation. They used Corning RPX 6F fast access drop cable with six fibers in it. It is becoming standard to use six fibers in for SFD and MFD units. The basis is many single-family dwellings are using their basements as an apartment and that justified having the six fiber networks, So when a tenant moves in, the just terminate and connect another fiber and still have a backup for each with one left for a business home office connection (many corporation now require physical separation between residential internet and work from home and corporate home office access hat is completely separate from residential with its own route and firewall hardware..
We use 2 fiber drops now as well.
I’m a fire life safety tech, I have that same Gerber I do 50% of my work with that tool. I’m looking to learn fiber because lot of our networks are fiber and I would like to learn more To add to my skills. Great video
Good job 😊😊😊😊 my friend
please watch my updated video th-cam.com/video/TyVk7XFgRnM/w-d-xo.html
As an electrician I really cringed to see the outer jacket not to be strain relieved inside the box. But then again, I find it also odd to had your tools to a customer to do a fiber install themselves. Covid sure allowed for a lot of strange solutions.
This was a COVID time-period video recorded for a customer to do this work inside his home. He would not let me in. Good enough.
@@TristynRusselo still I wouldn't let go of expensive tools like a fiber cleaver. No entrance, no service. But I guess I was a bit more practical when it came to those decisions back then. Funny story. A friend of mine works in the "brown end of plumbing" shall we say. Somehow all social distance practices disappear once the excrement hits the proverbial spinning blades. He also never became seriously ill past several years, his immune system already worked overtime 🤣
@@patrickd9551 It was a repair, not install. But did some installs similarly. It was company policy to "try anything"
Looks very good. What exactly are the other parts of the setup (bridge, ambilight source)?
DIYhue home-made lightstrip require using the DIYhue software bridge, I am also using Philips Hue Sync PC app on this TV (as its a PC monitor), OR I use Hue Essentials Android app on my other AndroidTV DIYhue.org for more info.
LOL this video giving techs anxiety!
read the description. not intended for techs. covid emergency to help a customer. description has link to a better video recorded after 100 people not reading the description.

Nice video like
This was awesome !! thank you for doing this !!
I find it easier to put the black boot on first before I expose the fiber
NICE
Att conector love is super fast
Sir, Why is the Orange fiber cable not terminated ?
its a spare fiber in case the blue fiber is damaged or a second service is needed in the same building. It may never be used, connectors are 15$ each. The video does not require both to be terminated to achieve the goal of this video.
Please
Fyi the yellow hairs...is kevlar
Yes it is. Wasn't important at the time, as stated in the information for the video, this was not intended for technician training. it was for helping a customer restore their service without the technician entering their home.
@@TristynRusselo no worries brother..just thought I'd give it a mention incase someone was wondering what it is. It was interesting fir me to see how things are done on the other side of the pond
@@gayleralan oh no prob.
This is not suitable for regular practice. No professional should be using this as any kind of guide. As noted, this not how a technician should do this work. Sounds like this was for a customer using incorrect, yet available tools, in some sort of desperate situation.
as stated in the video description
So what does orange do?
its a second fiber, it can be used for second service or as a spare.
I met my first "Great Saint" tonight and I am absolutely in love. Her name is Charlie, and she is the BIGGEST dog I have ever seen and she was so sweet I wanted to love on her forever. My Grandma has a Turkish Kangal and Charlie makes him look small. I am absolutely going to be getting one for my family. I have 4 acres just waiting for a big dog.
Maybe you should learn what this "stuff" is called before you make a video. Yellow hairs? You aren't terminating any of my fiber optic cables.
did you read the description? This video was created during covid to teach a CUSTOMER to fix his fiber because I could not enter due to COVID. This is not intended for training technicians. it says this clearly in the description. The video was shot outside of a customers house. 10 minutes later his service was restored. This video was used several times during no-entry. 6-figures last year.
The wire being used I doubt will carry a bonded signal. The yellow/black will crosstalk with green/red. This will cause each pair to drop. Need at least cat3 or even better cat5e
many homes built before the 90s are wired with this wire. bonded work fine for short distances on untwisted pairs. twisted pair is preferred, but not necessary. been doing it for 8 years. I've done bonded 150 megabit per second service on this wire. However our DSL equipment also has built-in mitigation for Crosstalk. We spent a lot of money
you don't need to touch that naked fiber wire so many time it will broke before splacing
There are many things in this video that would not be done if I weren't shooting a video. Sometimes you need to do things for instructional purposes, also, if you didn't read the description this video is not intended for technician training it was done for an emergency video to show a customer how to fix their own fiber due to the technician not being able to enter due to covid

I want one!!!
How cool! I've had Saints
Is it true if the fiber optic cable is too short, it can cause signal atenuation that can reduce or disturb the data rate of the internet?
Too short? Where? How? Huh? If the cable is too short it can't reach the equipment
@@TristynRusselo no, that's not what i meant, let's say there is a pair of single mode optic cable that design for 40 kilometers distance connection between two place, but instead we use it for only 500 meters, is it can cause signal attenuation? Thank you for response my question before, im very sorry if this is dumb question 😅
@@ristanadwicahya you would expect cable designed for longer distances to be higher quality/lower attenuation.
@@TristynRusselo i mean the laser or light beam, is it okay to use laser that design for 40 kilometers to be used in 500 meters connection? are the light in the receiver side will be too bright, so it can cause signal attenuation?
@@ristanadwicahya no idea.

Cotton glove sir. Rubber glove is sticky. Sweaty hand due to hardworking job. Are you an electrician?
Did you read the description?.. this was filmed for EMERGENCY COVID USE, to help a customer fix their issue without technician entry. Covid... everyone has rubber gloves. Im a telecommunications technician. I made 130K last year.
Proper gloves are level 5 cut resistant or thick nitrile gloves. Cotton is actually unsafe as the fiber can pierce through with no resistance.
I used to be able to preview a small screenshot of the motion that my camera captured from my lock screen on my android. Example a vehicle or animal etc. Now I only get a notification saying my camera detected a person etc but no preview or screenshot of what was in motion. Rendering this Telus alarm system useless because I don't want to open the app everytime there is a notification. Any ideas??
Check your lock screen settings. There's an option to hide sensitive data... Or.,. The notification in your notification tray, try swiping down on it using two fingers
Is there a tiny down arrow in the top right corner of the notification? If so try tapping that little down arrow
Thanks for the quick reply! And honestly those are awesome ideas, you obviously understand what I'm talking about. I didn't really know how to explain my problem. I should have told you I just got a new phone when this problem started happening. I went from a Samsung S10 to a new Samsung S20. The phones are pretty much the same but I must have a setting screwed up
I tried what you suggested in hopes it would work but nothing worked that you suggested
Any other ideas? The alarm system is working as it should. My wife's phone is able to see the little "stills" and or screenshots on her phone so I know our security system is working normally etc. My phone also gets the notifications etc.. I just can't see the darn picture on my lock screen or even when my phone is unlocked. I have to go into the app itself and load the saved clip. That of course is so time consuming
I'd lose the gloves. I find I have enough trouble with fibre let alone with gloves flooping all over the place.
The gloves are for safety. Fiber optics is GLASS. there is the possibility of microscopic pieces of glass getting embedded in your skin or transferred into your eyes and mouth. Once inside the body they are impossible to detect and can migrate to bone or nerves causing pain or injury, and can even cause death if they get into the bloodstream and shred your heart valves. Information on this is widely available, just Google fibre safety. Here is one such reference: www.fia-online.co.uk/pdf/pdf/MemDownload/tsd0053-1-02.pdf Optical fibre shards are only 125 μm (1/8 mm) in diameter and can easily penetrate the skin. Penetration of the skin causes pain (sometimes intense if the shard is long enough to reach a nerve fibre or bone) and can cause irritation and inflammation of the affected area. In extreme cases, the wound can become infected. Also shards are difficult to see, particularly in when they are of short length, and can be carried on the surface of the skin and transferred to other areas such as eyes and mouth. A significant feature of optical fibre waste is that once inside the body it is invisible to normal type of analysis including X-rays. It is therefore imperative to implement measures targeted to minimize the risk of ingestion of optical fibre shards during the installation process and afterwards when non-expert users may enter the areas containing optical fibre cabling
I wont mandate that you wear gloves, but I highly suggest it. Or at least do some research... NOT on facebook. Get facts from research, not peoples opinions. hmm... sounds familiar
cus they don't fit

What type/model/brand would this exact 2 port jack be called? Im trying to look for the same one you have in this video
leviton keystone jacks/wallplates
@@TristynRusselo ah thank you sir 😁
Can't you just put them under the same jack?
Huh?
That’s not technically bonded that’s just 2 single lines bonded would be 2 pairs punched down on one jack
@@IPayFourYourEBT No. The modem only accepts 2 single jacks. the modem does not accept 2 lines in one jack.
The modem model dose not accept 2 lines on one jack. it only accepts 2 single jacks.
@@TristynRusselo If it’s already setup to be two lines In the same jack you could have just gotten a adapter. Or if your modem dose support bonded *wiring in one jack, just use a rj12 wire. The only reason to do this is that sometimes the jack only has one line attached to the jack when there is a available 2 or 3 lines.
