Starlet Nights
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 24 มี.ค. 2022
Welcome to the channel, my name is Matteo (I also have a real name but I can't pronounce it).
The adventure begins in the land of Canberra, some say it's the best country in the world.
Everything started with a 3rd-hand Toyota Sarlet EE91 with cracked windows and oxidised paint
Weird sense of humor: ✅
Several install videos will be recorded at night (because work), hence why the name "Starlet Nights".
But I'll also record videos on weekends, events, and whatever comes to mind, car-related... hopefully I'll get better at this, please bear with me :P
Come along on this Starry journey, subscribe to the channel, and watch me make countless mistakes!

10:20 its actually a Reliant Rialto 😉 I'm glad it brings joy to everyone 😁 Great video!
Thanks, it's awesome! What's the difference between Rialto and Robin?
@@starletnights1 there are only really styling differences between a Robin and a Rialto, all of the mechanicals are basically the same. To be honest I am always impressed if anyone in Australia knows about them at all! Top Gear made them a bit more famous with their hilarious skit, but I have to remind everyone that they modified it to make it tip over all the time, they're actually surprisingly stable. You'll have to come for a ride sometime
@@TheOfficialDanman I'd love to, thanks mate. I also didn't know Top Gear did a trick on them!
@@starletnights1 yeah, top gear changed wheel sizes, locked the diff, added weight in the roof etc to make their Reliant fall over very easily. Poor little car. It was a funny skit though! Another fun fact; When Clarkson, Hammond and May left Top Gear they bought Reliant Robins as their new company's cars
@@TheOfficialDanman Intersting, thanks for sharing!
what a super sonik build it is . just love to see all the installation of exclusive parts on starlet
Thanks mate, much appreciated.
How many inches did you lower the car?
At least 10 cm, coilovers are maxed out at the back🤘
wow i didnt realise gran turismo looked so realistic
Hey, would you happen to know the length and size of the bolts you used for the silentblocs supports? I just bought a whiteline front sway bar too but it misses all the things you listed as expected. Thanks for your answer 🙏
I don't know exactly, but about 10cm. A shop like Pedders should be able to sort you out 👌
How often do they hold events cheers.
Once a month, you can check their schedule on the SDMA website, I left the link in the video description.
Let's see I was thinking that and search and you video pop up but in my case it's a tercel but they are very similar
Yep same chassis pretty much so these should still apply
I like the splitter where did you get it? The link doesn’t work anymore. What year was that Renault from and which model 😉
1997 Renault Laguna, should have all details in the video 😉
Beautiful car, I’m thinking of buying body kits for it, but it is extremely hard to find any for it. Can you recommend a few websites where I can buy mods or other things for it?
Honest enthusiast groups is where i have got all the parts or connections to get parts. Yahoo auctions is definitely a good source of parts too, body kits are very hard to find so that's why I fabricated my splitter.
Wtf
Dam.... wish they had that post finish straight when i raced there!!!
There are rumoros about expanding it further, we'll see.
The advantage of an older car is that you can spend the money slowly. Not everyone has the money to buy a nwere car. Also, insurance is cheaper on an older car. Best of all, the feeling when you do track an older car and you beat newer cars like 350Z, a WRX etc.
That's exactly my thinking. There's something glorious in seeing and old car driven hard smoking more modern ones!
Hey mate I had 235 on a 8.5x17 rim and it was about square, I think 235 on 8 will trapeze a bit. Probably get more response and footprint if you can lower the pressure a bit further rather than going 235
Thanks mate, I played a bit with pressure last time but didn't find a lot of difference on PS4. I might just give it another go before changing them!
Where is this Track ?
Sutton road, Australian Capital Territory
Thank you.
How to fix speedometer needle bouncing??
Most likely you need a new cable, the one that connects to the gearbox.
Love your vids, I have a French racing blue Clio its such an awesome car
Thank you buddy, it is such a lovely car, and for me, the most Iconic Renault color. I'll be comparing it to the Megane and the Alpine A110 soon 🙂
@@starletnights1 looking forward to that
Wow. I've heard that this Toyota was made for the Japanese market only. Was it exported to Australia? (I live in a country with right hand drive vehicles)
Yep it was imported from Japan as it belongs to a specialist vehicle list. I am also in AU and Centuries are becoming more and more popular among JDM enthusiasts 🙂
@@starletnights1 Ok Thanks.
Mitica! Non sapevo che la Starlet fosse senza servosterzo... dovevi darle la Clio!
Non sarebbe stato così divertente 😂
Epic. Epic.
Daghene!
Bruhh
Awesome colour on your mk3, racing blue is second only to liquid yellow imo.
I actually like RB best on the Clio, but the Megane will have to be LY, when I get one 😄
What are your rims from they look better than the factory ?
@@user-cv4id8hh7e On the Clio I have Speedline Cup Racers, same design as stock wheels but wider. On the Starlet Enkei RPF1 15x7 +35
v12 limmi bash 🥵
Can you even compare Toyota with Renault?
I have tried 😆 But honestly Renault might not have the reliability of Toyota, but surely they do know how to build a competent hot hatch.
Hey, I'm a new owner of starlet p8 since 2 days ago. I don't much about them but I was wondering if there was a way to upgrade the steering rack? I feel like it's too sloppy and doesn't turn enough. Would you happen to know if there's a steering rack with a smaller turn ratio from another toyota model that could fit? Thanks for your answer, from Belgium ✌️
Hey mate, I don't think there is any upgrade available unfortunately. The rack ratio on these is indeed horribly slow and not fit for any sporty use lol. The Glanza has unfortunately the same rack as long as I am aware, so there's no swap available either 😭
@@starletnights1 aah that's unfortunate. I guess we will have to fabricate something and weld new mounts and stuff for another steering rack. Find a rack that has close enough dimensions as the one for the starlet, maybe the ae86 or mr2? Look for their ratio, then adapt etc... lot of hard work but it would be nice, a world first that will help the community wordlwide
@@leoabyssal4629 everything is possible with the right amount of determination and swearing I guess 😆
You definitely won't regret getting an LSD, I've got a quaife on mine and it's absolutely wicked makes it feel so much more capable at low speeds and more stable at higher speeds when accelerating. Best mod I've done honestly.
Thanks mate, I feel like it really is the only thing this car is missing right now!
@@starletnights1 wish it came with an LSD from the factory, but most of the time you don't really need it with only 200hp but in slow corners it makes such a big difference.
@@acarguy3773 right, this is a very slow track so I think it would do wonders here!
@@starletnights1 oh definitely it would, you could go flat through a lot of those corners with no understeer 😁😁
Sounds like you've got an aftermarket exhaust manifold (gravity, toyosports something like that) because when you floor it at low speeds you can hear it rubbing on the subframe. Either that or you've got a standard one but you need to replace the engine mounts. They do wear over time and if you've got a standard manifold it will destroy the flexis if the engine mounts are gone. The lower torque mount and upper engine mount are the main ones, but they will cause a lot more vibration and noise in the cabin if you get the purple or black powerflex ones but they should help with the rubbing. Awesome mate!
Thanks mate, I'll definitely look into this, I'm fairly sure I still have the stock manifold. I don't mind the race car feel, so I'll be getting the mounts soon!
@@starletnights1 nice one. It's a very common thing to go. If your flexis are going I definitely recommend a nice aftermarket manifold they sound great and should free up more power as they remove the precat but idk what the laws are like in Australia. 🤔 🤔
@@acarguy3773 I assume I would also need a tune to reap the full benefits of an uncatted manifold?
@@starletnights1 yes definitely, I'm getting a catback and sports cat fitted and then I'll get a remap. These cars have a flat spot at around 2k - 2.5k rpm where the car feels like it doesn't want to do anything and adding breathing mods can make that worse but a remap can easily fix it.
@@acarguy3773 yep my car has that too, shame the tuner is like 600 km away lol
do you have to weld anything for the rear adjustable arb?
Nope, just drill the rails. Obviously some spot welding on top would be good to avoid cracks in the future.
awesome, cant waint to hit up the climb again
Your car is very nice, I have a starlet ep80, they are very fun cars to drive.
Thank you, they sure are great fun!
what diameter drill bit did you use? nice video
I can't remember exactly but I measured the bolt first and went with that size.
ugh people in their tin can suv pieces of shit beeping behind you lmao
What LED's did u use? Is that 5W? Mine 3W leds stopped working after a couple of days....
I can't remember the W as there are a couple of sizes, but I took the stock bulbs to the shop and asked for a led replacement. Still working fine now 🙃
Did you remember what kind of led you use?
@@carlosarriagada7734 nope sorry, just took the old ones to the shop and they gave me the correct ones. But they were pretty standard i would say.
Same dialog has been happening around the world daily 😂
True that lol

Gr wtf. Joke lad bet its 100hp 1.3 all wheel drive. Put a Sr sticker on it please for the real gr people, at best it's a Sr 76-78hp capable of 95hp in the very best hands 1.3ltr 16v fwd 920kg shiny red extremly low safety rated rust proof car
Lol it's 75hp and It's just banter, besides the fact I also own an actual GR Yaris.
Wow, thanks for sharing. This is great.
Cheers mate, appreciate it 👍
Beautiful car mate ! You planning on turboing the 4efe ? I have one as well, a 4 door EP91, but mine's Glanza swapped (4efte). It goes alright :)
Cheers bro, 4FTE is the way to go in my opinion. I do actually have some news about the car, will upload them soon :)
I just upgraded the seats/steering wheel in mine. Also a sound system but that's not for performance. Currently I'm saving up for the sway bars but man it's such a fun car to drive. I should definitely add larger/wider wheels as well because currently it still has the stock 13" and man if you floor it on a wet day you can spin them and stay in the same place hahaha. Such a fun car to drive
Yep these things are fun, cheap, but also indestructible! I'd definitely recommend changing wheels, it improves they way it looks too!
hi could you put links to where you got the parts :)
Thanks mate, links added in the video description!
@@starletnights1 Thankyou man love your vids! i have a little red starlet aswell
@@joshwase84 oh nice, thanks mate, happy modding then!
How was the car to drive after the install?
Much more stable coming into a corner and less lift-off over steer, such a great difference!
What tire size?
195/50 R15
Fiberglass behind the lip so it stays together
That's actually a pretty good idea!
