Why FactionFab Coilovers? Installed on my 2020 STI
In this video, I discussed why I chose FactionFab Coilovers. Recently installed and got the car where I want for ride height. Will be getting alignment in next 2 weeks and will go from there. I will plan to do a review once I get some miles on these and especially years to come as I’ve done with the previous coilovers on my 2013 STI.

Your radiator caps are wrong, you need to put the circle one on the radiator, and the one with the wings on the expansion tank your going to have coolant issue
@@AnthonyFeliciano4 I was thinking that because my previous sti I swear had the other cap on the tank.. and honestly it came this way.. but I haven’t had issues.. I think I still have a spare one so I’ll swap that out if that’s the case
@@AnthonyFeliciano4 also looking at it I do have the winged cap on the expansion tank.. the winged one on the radiator is a RK titanium radiator cap so I’m good
sick car bro what front grille do you have?
@@Zeus.-. appreciate it!! I’m not sure of the brand since it came with the car already installed. I’m sure it’s possibly the OLM carbon fiber grill
😈😈🔥🔥
It's gonna make so much dirt fly up there. I kept the OEM one on, better protection.
@@ryanharrison2260 very much true but I don’t daily or drive this car as much since I got it. Mainly weekends and in town only so far
I like the tail lights. Scoobyfreak86 had his done just like that. I don't blame you for emulating or modifying your car to be similar to his. His old car was beautiful. One day I would like to dress up the engine bay with some carbon fiber similar to his was done without the power mods. I did by some WedsSport TC105X wheels like he had on his at one point. I know he said that they looked to flashy but I love them.
@@jonathanb1987 yessir that’s where I got the idea from on the taillights. His was super clean! And yes the tc105x would be nice tbh! I think gunmetal looks good on this color. I’m stuck with the gramlights that came with the car already but it’s fine for now
@@subiekeo I wouldn't use the word "stuck" for those GramLights They were my other choice, but couldn't get a set in a color and size I wanted. They would be even easier to clean and allow enough space to clean the calipers. I was specifically looking for lightweight and easy to clean wheels. 😁✌️
@@jonathanb1987 that’s for sure ! Less spokes lol that’s one thing I like about them .. they’re still pretty stylish looking but for sure wedsports I’d love to get !
@@subiekeo get a set from KamiSpeed. They have a military discount. I bought my AWE Exhaust and WedSport wheels from them a couple of years ago.
😅 I'm not sure if tunner bro knows what he is talking about fueling his first lasting always. You don't have enough fueling The injectors are practically tapped from factory The fuel regular pressure regulator is not quite right either. Definitely get a second opinion from a reputable source that knows what they're talking about. I wouldn't touch a tune that included a downpipe that doesn't include injectors I fuel pressure regulator and a fuel pump. Anyway like I said it's lean burn from the factory
@@zeno15sti33 I know from previous sources usually on these va sti you would need injectors so you’re right I was confused on that.. previous gens I know you were able to do so on a downpipe without injectors.. yes the injectors would be tapped out but what do you think is the difference now since it’s the same motor? Maybe it’s a question I can ask him. I had my previous sti built and tuned by them and yes it had all the fueling, injectors, fuel pump and regulator.
@@subiekeo yeah Joe there's there's no real difference most changes have been evolutionary. The newer ones that heads breathe a little bit better that's about it. Essentially an EJ is an EJ. The factory 565 550 is whatever you want to call them are tapped out. Or you're leaving horsepower on the table one of the two
@@zeno15sti33 right on yeah I guess I’ll see what tuner has to say. I know he’s been doing those setups for awhile but i don’t know. I mean yes you are leaving hp out without those injectors. And essentially I feel like I’ll end up doing fueling anyways . It’ll set me up for the future
The factory injectors are not tapped, you can run a downpipe and intake, on stock injectors you will however need the Cobb fpr or an adjustable one. However, your injectors will be hitting 95-97 % at wot in the high rpm. If you live in a colder climate or higher elevation these numbers will go up.
@@lucian7182 that’s what I’m thinking.. and yes you’re right the duty cycle will be up there but maybe for the assurance of just doing some 1050s or something to have.. set myself up for future .. or before I ran 1200 from FIC.. which were about same price
for the installation, from 0-10, how hard is it
@@jacklin9768 honestly like a 2. Nothing really hard about it. I think maybe at first was to figure out how the front plate would work. But I had to watch another video on it. Doesn’t come with instructions but after that it was smooth.
@@subiekeo does it come with all the hardware for the installation?
@@jacklin9768 yes, comes with bolts and clips to install
sick subie! for all the mods you are planning, get an FPR, a bigger fuel pump, and Injectors. it will make the car run so much better. maybe E85 too
@@jacklin9768 that’s what I was thinking too! My previous build literally had everything and the power level was up there . Made 438 on 91 ! And yeah e85 would be nice but flex would be ideal for where I live at
@@subiekeo I did run mine on stock turbo and motor on e70. but I still mix it with pump gas to run flex. in my area, E is cheaper than 92 Oct (oregon)
@@jacklin9768 that’s nice ! About how much were you making ? Hp wise
@@subiekeo 320hp E70 on mustand dyno. the clutch is about to go, struggle on torque. but good for me as DD
@@jacklin9768 nice !! And yeah just on stock clutch?
Big things coming 💪
Really should get a pre purchase inspection with these. Compression test and a leak down test won't hurt me either at least you'll know if you're starting off with a good engine. Regardless I wouldn't consider the stock tune safe I would throw some fueling at it and get a proper tune.
@@zeno15sti33 I completely agree ! My previous sti had a completed new block put in and pretty much full bolt ons and I felt like the car was happy where it sat with the tune and all.. but idk if I would go that route with this car.. at least a simple tune for sure !
Glad to see this Subie get picked up, I think this was the same one I was looking at and decided not to pull the trigger on it. But glad to see someone’s got it! Btw was this the one that was in Mankato?
@@F30.JohnnyBoiii yessir ! Are you local to that area ?
@@subiekeo yeah I’m just in the Twin Cities/Metro Area. Bout an hour and a half from there.
@@F30.JohnnyBoiii awesome yeah I’m in southwest MN, so about 3 hours towards cities
I disagree w/removing the bumper. putting the car on ramps, the area behind each bezel is easily accessible through the splash panel by removing 7 pop clips and 1-10mm bolt (on each side). That's how I installed fogs on my base trim, through the splash panels. how is the quality of the these bezels/leds?
@@K03sport yeah that would work but I oppose to that when you want to run harnesses and finding structural points where you can secure the harness and all.. the quality so far has been great! Bright and still working well. The paint on bezels still loooking good. Some have reported paint flaking or chipping easily. Not yet for me. And I’ve driven it plenty on highway.
I use to have a 2014 sti stage 2 full exaust. Ran into some issues like spun rod . 🤬.. sold it ones it was fixed.. I do miss it.. guess you haven’t move on to the truck phase yet lol.. your sti looks clean 👍🏼
Yikes but thank you! But I was thinking about getting a truck tbh. Small Tacoma would’ve been my choice
Same, but a wrx hatch. Spun a rod 20 mins into tuning 2 months after I bought the car 🤦🏽♂️. Has IAG closed deck 750 now tho 🙏🏽
@@MillionDollarDream IAG!!! I bought a STI and days after I bought it ringland failure so I went with a IAG stage 2.5 tuff block with new heads and full exhaust, Cobb AOS and Cobb flex fuel kit and more…..
Why Do Subaru Ringlands Fail? Detonation is the mechanism that physically damages the pistons. Anything that promotes detonation such as low octane fuel, lack of proper tuning, and prolonged hard driving can potentially cause piston ringland failure. Detonation is when the mixture auto-ignites and forms an additional flame front in the combustion chamber. This spontaneous ignition causes the flame fronts to slam into each other and produce a pressure spike well in excess of typical combustion. This pressure wave will continue to bounce off of the cylinder walls producing a strong cyclical load. This "jackhammering" effect either shatters the ringland immediately, or contributes to a future failure from fatigue and/or overstress. This is due to the material's inability to absorb energy through deformation or flexure (ductile behaviors), in conjunction with the rapid onset of stress due to detonation. Piston ring gap is also a growing concern with the more recent motors. The gap is tight from the factory which makes the primary compression ring prone to binding. Binding occurs when the ring heats up and runs out of expansion room. The ring then flexs and puts a point load on the piston ringlands. Given enough stress, this can crack the ringland outright, or contribute to its failure. Are the Pistons Just Weak? Weak? ... No Brittle? ... Absolutely While detonation is what damages the pistons, it's important to know that the EJ20 (EJ207 / EJ205), EJ25 (EJ255 / EJ257), and FA20 all have brittle pistons due to Subaru's material and design choices. The pistons are cast hypereutectic aluminum-silicon (Al-Si) alloy; a very common material choice for modern engines. Well proven engines like the 2JZGTE, 4G63, SR20DET, RB26DETT, LSX, K-Series, and others all use Al-Si alloys. However, Al-Si alloys can vary depending on the percentage of silicon in the material. Subaru has opted for a "hypereutectic" alloy which is a high-silicon (12+%) mix. This makes the piston have extremely low thermal expansion, and allows Subaru to run an extremely tight piston-to-bore clearance. The high-silicon content also makes the piston considerably stronger than aluminum itself. For example, a 9% silicon (by wt.) alloy has a 14% higher yield strength than a 7% silicon alloy. This strength comes at a cost: fracturing. When you take a sledgehammer and hit a steel hood, the steel simply deforms under the pressure of the hammer strike, leaving a dent. When you take the same sledgehammer and hit a window, the block shatters the window. That is because the window material reacts to the strike by fracturing rather than deforming. When you add silicon to aluminum it acts more and more like the window glass. Detonation energy ironically enough, acts like the hammer.

Nice clean build! I'm in the process of building my GR, I've gone rotated with a ETS kit, IAG closed deck block and all the supporting goodies, I'll be around 500whp when done. Needless to say I've been eating rock soup due to the costs (damn) . If I were to have my local builder do the complete build including parts and labor would be around $27k . So what I have been doing is gathering all the parts beforehand and have a independent Subie builder install my IAG motor to save nearly $10k. Looks like you have an Idoing HU installed, those are good head units. I went with the T'Eyes. Funny how your channel popped up on my feed but glad it did. GREAT job on a clean build!
