14:15 Never change, Tomb Raider 😝
@@NEC234 nothing surprises me at this point !
19:20 Don't tell him)))
12:25 Nope! Not everybody at least. Tomb Raider series single-handedly established a market of hintbooks and magazines with walkthroughs. My parents played these games through without using a guide but it took an entire family (including little me as a kid) around a month per game. I had dreams about finding a path only to wake up and see a wall there! Worst moon logic was in Tomb Raider 4, most people still get stuck in the Cairo part with bike, it also doesn't explain new mechanics well. 2-3 are more about finding where to go next since it doesn't do anything weird with inventory and mechanics (you just walk up to things and press action). But good luck finding the way! This was the first 3D game I played and I got stuck for a few days unable to get out of the first room with the tiger! And I've seen people play it in the shop, and already knew what "save" and "load" mean and that you need to use the red book (that's a British passport). Thankfully Lara's Home was there so I at least learned how to do what everybody does with the scary butler and freezer.
@@KasumiRINA I’ve learned that when I’m stuck to just interact with everything that you can and new enemies tell me I’m on the right path.
I swear this is the last water level and it's much better levels after this, but you'd probably have to press down on analog stick (L3) to get speedup on the snowmobile, also try R2.
@@KasumiRINA this level wasn’t my favorite but I still enjoyed it. Thanks for the tip we don’t want another boat situation lol.
Any plans on doing the full franchise? steam is having a sale . a few are only a couple bucks.
Legend is like 50 cents in my country, shame they removed the full franchise pack, before Shadow's release I got the rest for like 3 bucks.
@@rgdymann absolutely! I preordered the next 3 out in February. I own the remakes but only played the first one. I don’t know about the underworld I think that’s the name or any others but I’m having such a good time playing I don’t want to stop.
Yeah these nautical levels go on for a little too long in TR2, IMO.
@@XwoooahX I’m ready to be out of it lol!
You almost pulled it off at 9:10, just had to pull the box one more time and then jump into the water, flames don't go out by themselves but stop instantly if Lara dives. At 9:45 there's water to your right. Putting flames out by getting wet will be used at a few boss fights later in 2 and 5. And no, the damage sources aren't independent, being on fire is a status, it doesn't matter how many torches you go through, that's why it's possible to cheese, you just pull the box and drop into water, 2-4 medpacks are enough.
@@KasumiRINA when i do my speed run I’ll know. 😂
Don't worry there's only two more ship levels! :3 Promise you, no more water levels after the one that goes after this one. Until TR3, and that will have piranhas... >_>
I love how out of the water you always notice levers, but you ALWAYS miss the underwater levers somehow.🤣
28:45 Even the key locks are upside down ;)
About the lore, tl;dr: Lara is looking for Seraph, an artifact that crashed with the ship. The full story so far: the opening shows a battle where dagger turns a man into an immortal dragon, after defeating which, a monk order locks the weapon behind a sophisticated lock in some hidden temple. In modern day China, Lara Croft finds the entrance to it, but the doors are closed... there she is ambushed by a cultist goon who drinks poison "for sins and fortunes of Marco Bartoli", our girl looks him up and finds links to Fiamma Nera (Black Flame) cult. She then infiltrates their HQ in Venice looking for clues, overhears them talking about some artifact lost underwater, but gets ambushed and captured... Wakes up on an oil rig. Making her escape, Lara meets a monk Chen from Berkhang monastery, in game's last voiced lines, there's the final exposition dump that ties everything together: Marco's father, Gianni Bartoli, likely a stage magician (you see poster to his show at the start of Opera House), stole the artifact that leads to the dagger from Tibetian monks, so Chen's father blew up his cruise ship. The son, Marco, leads an expedition to find this Seraph, and you race them to it... When you make it to monastery don't attack the monks. They can be helpful and fight the cult with you, unless you turn them hostile by not aiming carefully.
@@KasumiRINA This helps a lot! Thanks.
27:35 Just horrible enemy placement. The underwater levels have a few of these hiccups.
@@NEC234 That was bad he was killing my before i could fight lol.
24:20 Oh I meant you can cheese land enemies that don't have a ranged attack by shooting them from the water (where they can't reach you), if they have a shotgun you're better off shooting them from the ground yourself.
@@KasumiRINA i might have misunderstood 😂
That's a nice thumbnail :D Looks like a horror game!
@@NEC234 thanks! I did find all the circuit breakers thanks for the help your help. So far i haven’t had to use a guide or watch a video in this series. Close call on those breakers.
@@Imcoming4_u good job, a lot of people can't find all breakers and just cheese them by pushing the box through the fire while spamming medi packs. This and the next one of the levels people got most problems with. Tomb Raider 2 gets less frustrating after you finish the ship part!
@ well you’ll prolly be disappointed bc i tried to cheese it but i didn’t think the game would allow it. So i ended up searching for them.
At the end where you kept jumping over that broken glass pit over and over again. You were suppose to slide on the slope to activate the trapdoor and have Lara keep jumping over it over and over again until the trapdoor closes back forever, making it safe for Lara to stand on so she can jump up and grab the ledge to climb up.
@@FloatzelMan I never knew how i did that, it just closed. Im really stuck now … looking for two more circuit breakers 😔
@@Imcoming4_u The location of one of the other circuit breakers is such a troll. Before continuing on moving ahead, I'd suggest going back to the yellow room behind the moveable crates by the pool room and head to the button you used to open the glass doors where the wrench guy came from (that circuit breaker is behind the glass doors) and press the button again to close the glass doors back, otherwise, when you find your way to that one circuit breaker and the glass doors are still open, you'll be at a dead end and have to go all the way back to the button to close them.
@ thanks ill make my way back there
29:10 the fires didn't turn on quicker this time. You walked the wrong way 😪😝
@@NEC234 lady croft has a terrible sense of direction
Remember the series of traps in the first level of this game? Then you have areas like at the late part of this video where you have to swim underwater back and forth to pull multiple switches without drowning. Just wait until the last area of the game. That stuff is everywhere! When you get that far, best of luck!😁
@@FloatzelMan I’m going to need all the luck i can get.
IMO the final stages are MUCH better, they're either linear or so open you can do parts in multiple paths but never get lost, they also have trap gauntlets and isolated timed zones where it's clear what you have to do, and limitless saves and plenty of med packs make it hard, but fair... this middle of the game is hard for all the wrong reasons, it's confusing, you get lost, but none of the jumps are a real challenge, just annoyance.
Also like how they gave scuba divers just enough HP to survive more than 4 harpoons, which means you will always have to reload that crappy thing when fighting them. 😅
@@NEC234 you’re right ! I didn’t notice it until now. Ugh lol
Lara autoaims the harpoon gun and you can turn same way you do in water without it, I think it's circle/B button to flip. It's still the worst weapon in the franchise, and would be even more useless by Underworld where you can fire pistols in the water so it loses the one role it had. To fight back, you face the enemy and just keep firing really. No point dodging, for sharks, swim away or past them, flip around with O/B and then hold down fire... nothing much else you can do other than trying to avoid them with already pretty bad underwater controls.
@@KasumiRINA it’s rough going in this area but i do get out and it gets better!
You're right to check the boxes for moving, there will be a bunch of annoying box move puzzles, except they wouldn't look like wooden crates but slightly darker ones with metal rivets and later, crosshatched packing ones.
Hello there! I’d suggest you try the classic tank controls in order to get a better sense of the game’s mechanics. The modern controls seem to get you stuck at rather easy platforms, like the slide at 52:09. Lara has the ability to hop back and jump sideways, and that helps her in many, many ways, be it by shooting off enemies or through these platforms. You should’ve had the knowledge by now that she can slide backwards and dangle from corners by pressing action, but you can only hop back and do that with modern controls while having your guns out, and that can be overwhelming, since you’d have to quickly put them away to have the action button free… If you were using the tank controls, you’d just position Lara backwards to the slope and hold action while she slid down, then let go as she dangled from the corner so she’d fall free and press action again for her to grab the bottom platform. Practicing the game mechanics as they were originally designed will help you a ton, believe me. You can do it at Lara’s Home, or at the first level of the game, practicing with your pistols - getting behind your shotgun enemies and shooting them as they bite dust, rolling as they turn around to face you and getting behind them again, hopping back and shooting the club/stick/wrench-wielding guys and even dogs will reduce their damage to zero most of the time, and leave you a lot of spare medipacks to have a more comfortable run. 🤘
@@YuriTFerreira As Darth Vader once said “ its to late for me” lol I started with tank controls in TR1 it wasn’t good i had to change. I can do all those jumps but in the heat of the combat i mess it all up. I plan my 2cd play through to be all tank controls and save crystals. Thanks for watching and i appreciate the tips and comments.
55:04 oh, that's funny 🦈
I was trying to say good by 😂 so funny
They should make a Jaws movie starring Lara Croft.🤣
30:45 You ran over that pickup so many times too, I even saw the hand pop up a few times when you ran past him while you were searching the room. 😭
I watched it and it’s unbelievable how many times i missed that.
24:40 You were likely still locked on to first enemy's corpse if you were just holding down the button to fire your guns the whole time, so none of your bullets hit the guy with the stick (they just went right through him and were hitting the dead guy in the back). You must stop shooting (let go of the fire button temporarily) to change enemies you are targeting, even after they die.
@@XwoooahX i think you’re right. I rewatched it and that appears to be exactly what happened .
it's not written anywhere in game, but if you hold down button, Lara will lock on to a target and not switch even after the target is down, but if you keep your weapons out, but let go of shooting button and press it back, she will aim at whatever is closer. Easier done that said actually, you just let go off the trigger and press it again to switch targets, that's it.
3:20 🤣👍 4:12, edit: you got it, perfect
"Well I've got time... Surface is right there, right?" Famous last words. When you get a game over, you can press right and choose "restart level" if you forgot to save at the start.
52:12, the best approach is to get on the side of the hole that allows Lara to hop and slide down backwards, that way you can just grab and hang from the ledge when you reach the bottom of the slide. Then you simply drop / grab the catwalk below it.
You click both analog sticks for photo mode. Looking forward for you feeding the sharkies. :3
@@KasumiRINA you won’t have to wait long 😂
9:26 Also credit is where credit is due: You outplayed that guy.
@@NEC234 thanks! I’m having a good time in this area.
3:58 The M16 will actually be in range for such targets. I know this weapon will give you some grievances at first, but it's really strong if you just abuse it's range. Side note: The Harpoon gun ideed blows. But you know what to save it for ;)
@@NEC234 i love the m16 my favorite ! Next video up in about an hour ( youtube is a little slow at processing)
Although I think that "Offshore Rig" is the weakest of the 'lose your weapons' levels, I still like the oil platform idea. Execution could have been better though, and the levels could almost have been combined. 5,5/10 Verdict ;)
I have to say, the previous level and this level especially strangely remind me of the facility in Half Half. Especially the radioactive waste area.🤣
@@FloatzelMan I’ve never played half life butI heard it was good.
@@Imcoming4_u It's like Tomb Raider, but a lot more gun heavy and a lot lighter on the platforming. Basically more violent and less puzzle-solving. Half Life 2 is better imo.
@ ps5?
@@Imcoming4_u Idk what all platforms the Half Life games are on, but I've played on Steam.
The platform at the start is easy if you do backwards hop, but modern controls don't have that move. Only with guns out. You can turn mid-air (and you might need it later), but why if you can just position Lara so her back is towards the slide. I still don't understand why they didn't let you hop backwards or jump sideways in modern controls. Should have kept the old moves on d-pad.
@@KasumiRINA I didn’t know you were a professional you tuber! I subscribed to your channel, maybe I’ll learn some things. I did finally figure out to turn around on the slide. This is by far my favorite area.
18:18 Sorry about that, yes, if it's down you have switched it, but doesn't mean you never need to switch it back up to default. Like in this case the switch controlled which 1 of the 2 pools of water was filled, instead of opening / closing a door.
@@XwoooahX I stay confused any way, but it always works out.
Harpoon gun is just not good. Also why does it have a reload mechanic unlike all other weapons? Still, it has some uses against wildlife.
@@NEC234 wild life? Ugh
@@Imcoming4_u sharks and eels.
I don't know if it's the mechanic or if I'm just really that bad at it, but the harpoon gun is the absolute worst thing to me. Shooting and swimming mechanics were not meant to mix in my opinion. She doesn't seem to aim at the enemies and it's hard to swim and shoot at the same time especially when they literally are swimming through Lara, making me twist and turn to shoot. I just swim past the enemies until I find a spot out of the water and shoot them with the other guns. Saves me a lot of grief, time and health in the long run.
@@FloatzelMan good tip thanks! I didn’t care for it out of water but I’ll have to try it once just to see.
Harpoon gun IS the worst, it's not just you... it's also the only weapon with reloading. Unfortunately, if you go for 100% kills there are some places you can't shoot enemies outside of water and at others you just want it done faster. It's still cool to use and with how easy this game's combat is, might as well use weakest weapon for variety. It also lets you cheese ground enemies by shooting at them FROM the water. Notably against yetis later.
@ i love to cheese enemies !
Nice one. 👍
Please take 5 minutes to teach yourself a few movements that will make combat so much more enjoyable and easier. When you're running away from an enemy, press X and then immediately press circle, really fast, Lara will turn around in mid-air and face the enemy ready to shoot. Another thing you should learn is: "HOLD L2 & HOLD X at the same time, then use the directional buttons to jump left, right, forward and backwards. Do this for 5 minutes so u can master the timing, it's very simple and makes the combat so easy. Just hold L2 + X, hold them down, and then use the arrows to jump, and then you can just shoot enemies easy
@@Oobe i know, 😔 it’s bad. I’ll work on it.
@@Imcoming4_u Revisit Lara's Home! Don't need to do it on video, just periodically get there and practice movement, first game has great obstacle course for basic jumps and second has those pillars where you can practice the side and back jumps described in the above comment. Basically, as Lara jumps vertically up, there's a slight delay where she bends her knees, and you press and hold jump and THEN press the direction. This lets you make jumps with exact distance of 1 square. Unfortunately, in modern controls it only works when your guns are out.
7:33 they take insane shortcuts(glitches, oversights) which practically cut like 90% of the level!
@@NEC234 I’m watching it as soon as I’m done. Unbelievable.
The levels where Lara loser her weapons are most frustrating, not only she cannot do hand to hand attacks she clearly does in cutscenes, lady Croft stubbornly refuses to pick up enemies weapons, like in TR3 prison level there's guards with guns and you open up cells so convicts maul them with punches, but then you see a model of a pistol right in the hands of guard on the ground, and cannot pick it up. She will only accept specific weapons, turns her nose on non-monographed pistols! TR4 is the ONLY one from first 6 where she doesn't loses weapons at Core compensated in Chronicles where Lara loses her weapons at least 4 times... (after Rome, on submarine, after the submarine, and metal detector in VCI). Also, awkward stealth where you have to press action to "use" crowbar on a cook's head.
@@KasumiRINA Lady Croft! Love it. Her only option is to run lol
14:10 Yeah, when I replayed this I checked by looking back and the barrels pass through enemies. No collision for them, same with leopards and snow boulders later. I THINK the game expects you to run to the windows and have them shoot at Lara but break the glass behind her instead, but I just clipped through to window this time lol.
These games turned walkthrough mags and hintbooks into bestsellers, when I played it on PS1 with parents, it was an entire family effort, with everyone trying to figure out where to go and what to do next. Stella has the walkthrough everyone uses now, as it's been updated for decades. Normally nowadays for older games I use GameFAQs and for newer ones, Steam guides.
I hope you enjoy the ocean area, because it goes on a good 6 levels!😃 There's going to be a LOT of swimming off and on! I know how much you hate the water by now!🤣
@@FloatzelMan 😔 I had some drama with water in TR1. So far in TR2 water seems to be the safest place to be! lol
@@Imcoming4_u Btw, the fans in the Opera House are ok, but these ones just suck.😋
It will get wetter! @@FloatzelMan you can go around this fan, you need to go FAR away from it and huddle the wall to the right, a barrel on the ground shows as far as safe area goes.
@@KasumiRINA I know, I just meant that as a joke because the fans in these underwater parts suck you in and the ones in the opera house don't.
Oh boy, this one was rough 22:14 - there is a reason this switch turned off the propellers. (If they are spinning they will chop you up)
@@XwoooahXi finally had some time to get ahead. i cheated a little to figure it out. That video will be up tomorrow. Thanks for watching!
9:40 - switch to the right of you was already activated so when you plugged it in, the door in the back of stage opened (the guy walks out on stage through now open path - had you gone down there it would have been open and you could have enter the box/crate area back there immediately through that opened door) 10:35 - you flipped the switch up (deactivated), closing the newly opened path in the back of the stage 😆(note - pay attention to these on/off switches, when they are up that means they are off, when you push down, they are on - since Lara flipped switch back up, it was an indicator that you had already flipped the switch on earlier) 27:48 - somehow you managed to find a way up there anyway 👍 (PS. something opened up that door anyway later on, maybe another switch back there opened it besides the one in the control room)
@@XwoooahX so confusing. that place was a giant maze.
I have been binge watching this series and it’s been a blast. You remind me of… me, when I used to get stuck in these classic games, especially on the Venice bit. Don’t feel bad while struggling through these puzzles. Core Design didn’t believe in tutorials, apparently, and they expected us to read the manual that came with the games; that’s where you’re supposed to find the boat has a turbo mode and whatnot. This game, specifically, feels pretty brutal at the beginning. There’s a lot of turning switches on and off to open back doors and drain water, so pay attention to that. Hope to catch future episodes, and maybe pop up on some of your livestreams. 🤘
@@YuriTFerreira thanks for watching! I’m glad you’re enjoying it. It’s brutal. I pre ordered the next 3 in the series, so I’m just getting started 🤪

@@Imcoming4_u Bro, you have me on the edge of my seat so many times like, "is he going to see it?" ... especially that part where you dropped below the elevator into the water and found the circuit, I was sweating that you were going to miss it after all that 🤣
Are you playing through all 3 main games first and then do all the DLCs afterward?
@@FloatzelMan I’m not sure i was told to avoid the first games dlc but the others were good. So iv don’t know lol
@@Imcoming4_u first game DLC is just four levels, one that can be done under two minutes easily (I even posted a guide) and second is complete bull. Third and fourth are Egypt levels and probably the best thing in TR1 in general, it's bizarre they swapped them around in remaster. TR2 DLC is going through winter bases with a lot of racing on a snowmobile then golden rivers in caves, and it NEEDS to get all secrets to unlock final level. So yeah, play that one eventually. 3rd is fine.
