Give Me The Nightmare (So I Can Fly)
One of my favourite songs that came to me all the way back in 2003. Rather like automatic writing, it just kinda wrote itself. I just made the right mouse clicks on the PC to produce it. (See COIL vs ELpH) (C) 2003 Daniel du Prie

Sonos Era 300: Stereo versus Dolby Atmos Test/Demo
มุมมอง 1.4Kปีที่แล้ว
Comparing stereo and Dolby Atmos on the new Sonos Era 300s. Don't expect too much as it's using my phone's mic array. But hopefully it gives an indication of the added brightness and definition offered by Atmos at least. Irl it does sound quite a lot more immersive. As always with these demos, listening with headphones 🎧 offers a much better rendering.

Polk Magnifi Mini - Dolby Digital Sound Processing Breakdown. What's Going On?

Just a quick breakdown of what's actually happening when the Polk Magnifi Mini Soundbar is presented with 5.1 Dolby Digital sound to process. After using this for about 7 months, this is my theory as to how the Magnifi Mini actually separates and processes the 5.1 separate channels of Dolby Digital sound. If you have better information as to how the unit processes Dolby Digital or how it applie...

I don't remember exactly when, but I bought mine a year or two ago. Great watch. It's still a little complicated to use sometimes, praticularly for functions that I rarely use. It's a little intimidating when you first take it out of the box, but you kind of get used to it after a short while. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing it's missing is an hourly signal or chime, and I still can't figure out why. All of the necessary software is there for it; it measures time forward (Time and Stopwatch), it measures time backward (Countdown Timer and Alarm), and it makes noises (Button Press, Countdown Timer, and Alarm). They know how to make it beep once every 24 hours at user defined intervals, but they couldn't figure out how to make it beep once every hour on the hour, on their own terms, in spite of the fact that every single alarm watch they make can accomplish this Herculean feat??? Oh yeah, one more thing... you're stuck with either the resin bands or the steel bracelet. Because of the goofy way the lugs are designed, the last time I checked, there were no third party bands of any kind available for it. In spite of those two drawbacks, I still really, really like this watch. It looks amazing, especially with the SS bracelet, it's very comfortable, especially with the bracelet, and it keeps extremely accurate time on its own. I live just barely inside the range of the Ft. Collins, CO signal, so it rarely updates via the MB6 radio. The whole time I've had it, I don't think its time has ever been more than a few seconds, one way or the other, away from the clock on my phone.
It's sorta one of a kind in its genre, there's nothing quite like it which is why I like it (although Citizens AnaDigi Temp does similar things but it's a completely different design). I think they didn't include the hourly chime because there's no easy way to include that in the display. It's another function that needs its settings displayed, where would you place access to it on the dial if you were the designer? Maybe they just didn't want to complicate things too much.
@@duprie37 Lol, that ship about them not wanting to make it too complicated sailed long before the Alarm came into play. If there's one thing Casio doesn't shy away from, it's complexity! Ok, on the serious side now... This thing really is pretty much in a class by itself. There really aren't too many analogs out there with this level of functionality. If I was a designer, how would I do it? Since casio has been around for several decades and manufacturing watches at all kinds of price points, and since I know nothing about HOW to manufacture a watch, I'm only going to touch on that part of it real quick, and then I'll move on to WHERE I would place it and how to access it. Since they've been manufacturing quartz watches in analog, digital, and ana-digi for so long, they do have the technical expertise to map out an hourly chime on any alarm watch in their stable. When it comes right down to it, the technology behind the complications is the same for their quartz analogs and digitals, the main difference being that they have to incorporate a tiny motor and whatever is necessary to convert an electronic signal to the motor to drive the hands on an analog. Basically, it comes down to a battery, a PCB, and a tiny hunk of quartz crystal. Obviously, there's a little more to it, but just the basics lol. As far as how to display and access it? Since you can't tell from the main timekeeping mode whether or not the 24 hourly signal is active, there similarly isn't much need to see the one hourly signal from there either. When you press the C pusher a few times to access the alarm, the seconds hand rotates to either the 830 or 930 position as marked ON and OFF, respectively, in tiny print on the dial. Since pushers B and D are used to change the alarm time forward and backward, those are out of the picture, bust only for a few seconds. Pusher A is already used to turn the alarm on and off. Since some actions on this watch are accessed by pressing as well as long pressing pushers, you would press C a few times to get from Timekeeping to the Alarm, then press and hold A for a few seconds, until it beeps. After it beeps, release it and THEN press either B or D to turn the chime on and off, which will also be handled and displayed by the seconds hand at 830 or 930. Once the chime is set, pressing A would take you back to the main alarm, or pressing C would take you back to the Timekeeping mode. I'm sure it could probably be done a couple other ways, but that's what jumps out at me as being the easiest for consumer operation. Ya wanna know something that really wouldn't surprise me in the least about this watch? I haven't been able to find any info about this, probably because it isn't one of their most popular, but I'd be curious to know if anyone has disassembled the 5174 module and found a jumper somewhere on the PCB that merely needs to be de-soldered, similar to what they did with the countdown timer on the 3240 module in the W-800 model. I don't have near enough inner geek to figure that out, but I do have enough to be able to successfully disassemble the watch down to the PCB and follow the directions about what to desolder if the hack ever comes up.
OH MY GOD THANK YOUUUU I LOST MY CASETTES I HAD SINCE I WAS 18

Cyndi ftw:)
I just read some 1 else comment aswell dolby atmos only works with ceiling speakers, even if on wall thay dont work, lots people dont understand
That's not correct. There isn't any particular speaker layout that counts as the "official" Atmos layout. Dolby Atmos was designed to be flexible. That's why you have everything from Apple's Atmos enabled earbuds and iPhones to 24.2.10 cinema Atmos arrays. If it wasn't so then Dolby wouldn't license these Sonos speakers or a whole range of soundbars or Apple to use the Atmos logo. You can say Atmos works _better_ with discrete ceiling speakers but they're not necessary to make a system Atmos enabled. The Era 300 has a height speaker which directs sound to the ceiling where it's reflected back to emulate the ceiling speaker so it does process the ceiling channels separately. A pair of them gives you L+R height speakers. The system is effectively a 4.0.2 Atmos setup.
@@duprie37 nope your wrong 100% wrong, ear buds and iPhones don’t play dolby atmos height channels, plus the height channels in the Sonos soundbar yer its got them but none work like mine on my Sony soundbar plus can adjust the height on mine on screen with the volume, look it up, height channels never work on soundbars even if you change the db on it like I can, for dolby atmos the only way to hear is ceiling speakers,
@@duprie37 am not bothered what the 300s sopose to do but thay don’t reflect from the ceiling to make dolby atmos, dolby atmos is in the pic there is a video on yt look it up, the sound change from 1 speaker to a other like a fly buzzing out 1 side and rain out the other, all these speakers so called atmos comes out same time that’s not dolby atmos even thou it says it
@@duprie37 crank my volume up to that Sonos soundbar would blow that out the water, sony ht-st5000 yes with dolby atmos earc hdmi connection and with height channels thay never work just a gimmik
@@robertbuckley3480 What you think about soundbars and adapted speakers like the Sonos 300 is irrelevant. My point is that Dolby laboratories would _not_ licence these manufacturers to use the Dolby Atmos logo if they weren't compliant with the Atmos standard. You don't need ceiling speakers for a speaker to be Atmos compliant. Whether you agree or not just isn't relevant lol.
Dont sound any difference either way, only near the end in dolby sounded tinny like you highered the volume up

True atmos doesn’t work unless the speakers is on the ceiling.
There's no such thing as "true" Dolby Atmos. Atmos is a codec not a speaker configuration. These have separate front, surround and height channels, that's perfect here because these are _not_ for watching movies, these are for listening to music. You don't even want distracting rear and ceiling speakers for Atmos music.
Cool!

Brilliant mix despite the title (seriously do you have to give Satan aka Lucifer, a credit ???). Charlie Daniels gave up the rights to his controversial 'devil' song, but to pay homage on your part by giving it a title is abnormal. Let me guess; your fixtated on The Exorcist ???
What are you on about?? That's the title on the cover. Check it out at Discogs www.discogs.com/master/196933-The-Reels-Bad-Moon-Rising
@duprie37 👍 OK, so your exonerated. But Charlie Daniels really did feel guilty for singing about 'how the devil went down to Georgia' and got someone to sell their soul. He gave up all rights to royalties for the song. Frankly, that makes as much sense as naming a song on behalf of the Devil (fu*k, just give Him a damn credit on the album; "I'd like to thank Satan for giving me the inspiration to showcase my awesome talent").
@@AlexusYoung-t5k You're reading way too much into it lol. The Reels were well-known for their use of irony. They're just playing with the fact that the "Gospel" mix is acapella with lots of harmony and sounds "bright", while the "Satanic" mix emphasizes the bass and low end & thus presumably sounds "darker".
@duprie37 Angelo Badalementti and Twin Peaks are dark badass music (or Osborne biting a head off a bat) but this is just stupid marketing twists and turns. I'm opening a restaurant called "Heavenly Burgers" but can assure you it's not because I want you think about "Hell" or the fireplace that awaits you down below.
