Statements from her brother, aunt and ex-husband do not show that she had or had to fear for her family during her flight. Nor would she have been married off against her will. This emerged on Thursday in the TV program Zembla. The documentary makers visited family and other acquaintances from Hirsi Ali's youth in Kenya. Hirsi Ali, whose real name is Hirsi Magan, lived there between the ages of ten and 22. The liberal MP said in Zembla in response that the three are lying on certain points. "That can be placed in a sense of honor and shame." The VVD was already aware that she lied about her flight account when she was put on the list. According to a spokesperson, this involved an incorrect name and date of birth and the country from which she came. At the time, the Liberals did not consider this an obstacle to putting her on the list. 'Little relevant' The stories as they are now being reported in Zembla "also do not seem very relevant to us", according to the spokesperson. This is a foolish illustration that just serves to put doubt into the mind of the believer. "Did you really believe if you flinch? IF YOU HAD REAL FAITH YOU WOULD'VE STAYED STILL!" Regardless of if you flinch or not it doesn't change God's promise to save you. Someone can believe in physics but still flinch despite knowing that they won't get hit. When two kid brothers are play fighting and rough housing for fun one of those brothers can know that the other won't punch him in the face but that doesn't mean he won't flinch from time to time at the sight of a fist suddenly swinging for their nose (and if you've play fought with kids at the playground when you were a kid, you know what I'm talking about). Your salvation isn't based on your own ability to stand unflinchingly or perform a certain action or set of works as retroactive proof of "genuine" faith. The bible says in Hebrews 11:1 that faith itself is the evidence of things not seen, not your own works or your own ability to stand still. Jesus already paid for your salvation with his finished work on the cross so it doesn't matter whether you flinch or not. So first let's look at how to biblically be justified: Romans 3:24, Being JUSTIFIED freely by his GRACE through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 3:26, To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the JUSTIFIER of him which BELIEVETH in Jesus. Romans 3:28, Therefore we conclude that a man is JUSTIFIED by FAITH without the deeds of the law. According to the bible you're justified by grace, faith, and belief. Belief is synonymous with faith which is synonymous with receiving God's grace. Faith is belief. Stop trying to insert a man-made gap into it to cause people to doubt if they truly believed. Instead of preaching the gospel and getting people saved or teaching what the Word of God actually says you dream up these vain illustrations to sow doubt in the minds of those with little faith. Salvation is not difficult. You just need to put the small amount of faith that you do have into the Lord Jesus and not in yourself and your ability to not flinch in the face of physics. Thank God that he doesn't base salvation on whether or not we flinch. Regardless of whether a believer flinches or not, they are still saved, not based on THEIR reaction and not of themselves as Ephesians 2:8-9 says, but based on the promise of God to save and justify the believer by faith and belief as I demonstrated in earlier verses. If you have belief, you have faith that justifies you; if you have faith, you have belief that justifies you. God is not a liar. If you believe in him you'll go to heaven. If you have faith in him you'll go to heaven. This illustration is unbiblical and just causes people to doubt. Even if you flinch in the face of persecution that's why 2 Timothy 2:8-13 was written. In context it's Paul talking about how he's facing affliction, suffering, tribulation, and persecution (sort of like a heavy object swinging at you straight for the face), and that even if you don't have faith in the moment, God will not lie because God is the one who abides faithful. 2 Timothy 2:13, If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. Our salvation is based on the promise of God not our ability and efforts to keep still. And again, the believe not is in reference to not believing you'll make it through suffering or afflictions. Even if you FLINCH at the suffering of an object crashing at you God is still faithful and will not deny himself or break his promise to save those who believe or have faith on him... because biblically, there is no difference between belief and faith for salvation. Titus 1:2, In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. Thank God that salvation isn't based on YOU and your efforts but based on Jesus who paid it all and gives us the free gift of everlasting life by grace. How do you get grace? Belief. Faith. Romans 5:18-19 says that we're justified by the righteousness and obedience of ONE (not two, not you+Jesus, not your ability to resist the urge to flinch, not your ability to turn over a new leaf and suddenly start following the laws which Galatians 2:16 says we are NOT justified by). All I can see from this illustration is a foolish and false point being made trying to tell people that they aren't really saved if their faith doesn't produce works or actions. This is a false gospel. Even if you have no works you'll still be saved if you believe on God who justifies the ungodly. Romans 4:5-6 states very clearly that to him that WORKETH NOT but BELIEVEITH on him that justifieth the ungodly, his FAITH is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works. According to the Bible, even if you "flinch" and your faith didn't produce the works or the actions, you're still justified and the righteousness of Christ is still imputed unto you. To him that worketh not means NO WORKS but still saved and still declared righteous by faith alone. Romans 3:28, Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. If you want to know for sure that you're on your way to heaven all you need to do is have faith in Jesus to save you and believe the gospel. 1 John 5:13 says that these things were written that ye might KNOW that you have everlasting life. If you want to be saved and know with certainty that you'll go to heaven and eliminate all doubts in your mind I highly recommend you look at the bible way to heaven video from Pastor Robinson or Pastor Jimenez on TH-cam (there are other good videos, but I like these two). It's a short 10 or so minute video that goes through the full gospel for you and will get you squared up if you have any doubts on whether or not you are saved. God bless.

God created human nature, violence and all. It seems to me that we cheapen and demote God by pretending that the world as it exists was not gods intention. I think suffering and violence are absolutely part of gods plan, that they are an unfortunate but necessary step on the way to the kingdom of heaven. One day they will be defeated.

I’ve been on the inside of and alongside the kind of fundamentalist Christian communities that espouse faith healing and believe in angels and demons and it’s universally cultic and all the spiritual power is a confidence trick. Trust me. I’ve seen it all. And this kind of bull shit is far from harmless. I am concerned that young British people who have grown up without Christianity are looking for these things. But we know better now. And we can see the ultimate trajectory of religious fundamentalism in Trumpism, and ISIS and even in the burgeoning African charismatic faith, where misogyny and homophobia are taking on new levels of toxic fanaticism. No. There really is more between heaven and earth than is dreamt of in Horacio’s philosophy. But superstitious religion won’t take us there. It’s my sense that it may be within the age old disciplines of mystical meditation that we may find ourselves re-homed within a matrix of meaning again. These disciplines, forgotten since the Celtic church was brought to heel by Augustine and again crushed at the reformation, need to be re-learned. The practice and experience of mysticism teaches us that really we don’t know much, but that the transcendent is waiting to be explored and it teaches us the humility both of the agnostic and the environmentalist and of the humanist. This is where we should go for our morals, our passion for social justice, our longing for social cohesion and our willingness to adapt to a finite planet. We need the humility of not knowing that comes from mysticism and not the tyranny of certainty that accompanies doctrinal religious belief.

Holland: It is possible and highly probable that Jesus healed you. After all you were humble enough to ask for help in the way you knew how.How about having a Jesus miracle from God? Considering Jesus dead wounded and died for sins and sickness. This is what Jesus desired to happen when he embraced the cross. Clearly we acknowledge the mother of Christ, but she did not die for our sins and sickness.

First I want to say how great this project is, and I intend to listen to the whole thing. However, you lost me hard on ep 7 George Floyd's narrative, calling him an innocent victim and comparing him in a way to Jesus, as people came together around the murder of an innocent person, that was crazy, when Floyd was a recurrent criminal and was in fact committing a crime which is why police was called. That part of the documentary was seriously lacking research and nuance but just an unfortunate stain on an otherwise amazing work, so far at least (ep. 7)
