Hello Everybody, A little bit of pride before a fall here. You'll be glad you're not me as I ham-fistedly reassemble George's gearbox. This is the reason that you don't use a cider press called Rosie to push in a bearing! …Don't worry, Nobody died.

มุมมอง 1.5K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello everyone! My name is Bob and I am starting a project in which I will be restoring my fathers 1937 500cc BSA Empire Star called George, fettling a 1983 Volkswagen LT31 campervan to act as race support vehicle and making an attempt to recapture my health to boot. Enjoy and please stay for the journey #RoobarbsShed
Fabulous photo's you have there Archie and a ton of great memories. Rhydymwyn by the old Antelope pub, that's around the corner from our Caravan. Alan & Gary Davenport's Dad once raced on that track as well, wasn't it a road racing circuit? Many Happy Returns for your Birthday on the 21st of this month Archie 🍻🥃 ( same birth date as my late Mother) 👍
Happy Birthday Archie! 🎂 Great tales from a life well-lived..!👌
Happy birthday 🍺 Archie.
Great 👍 ah such simpler times when bikes were bikes! The glory days!
A pleasure to watch. I don't understand half of your calculations but enjoying nonetheless
I don't even pretend to know what you're doing here, but i wish i could do it. Well done!
Haha Phil, it’s Tinkromising … tinkering to save the cost of professional help 😂
Brilliant Bob, great stuff 👍
Fair play mate, excellent work
Thanks for your kind words Wok, I can’t wait to show you the upcoming footage of George making it back to the road 😊
Looking forward to watching this! Good luck!

Thanks Suzukisav, We’ve still got to make it work yet 😅
that looks far too technical for the likes of me Bob. Excellent work
Thanks Yorkie, I hope it was of interest anyway? 😊
Crap happens, move on, just another challenge! Specialist welding? Or perhaps a replacement if someone in the club has one.
Hello Stuart, Thanks for the encouragement, I've already welded it up and machined it for the next episode but it did take some getting over :)
🫥 gutted mate.
NO !!!!!!!!!
😢
I love that the 10mm was missing...that made me laugh!
What a lovely motorcycle, I’m sure your dad would very proud
Really enjoying the content so far pal. Looking forward to the next part. That 3D scanning is awesome 👍🏼
I laughed far too loudly at the googly eye beard!! hahaha! Brilliant!...right i'll carry on watching now!
I think you have the same gearbox in the WM20 motorcycle during the war.
That’s correct Lars, and that is precisely why I have been able to get some New Old Stock spares to repair it. Thanks for watching 👍
@@RoobarbsShedHi again! I also have an M23 empire star. I bought it in july 2023 in bits and pieces and the V5 where lost. However, i talked with a chap that have gone throw the archives of old bikes and 2 minutes after i gaved him the engine and framenumber he text me, Got it! 😂. Still i need some parts. Maybe you know someone that maybe have a cylinderhead and rockerbox for 1938-1940 models. Regards Lasse

Thanks for watching Mark, gearbox trouble next.
@@RoobarbsShed oh yes I've just had some clutch issues on the bantam all sorted now tho! Jumping out of gears by any chance ? Not selecting well?
In our case it was jumping out of 4th due to a badly worn sleeve bush on the final drive… but that is for another episode ☺️
Bsa empire star Christ what a great story you must be so proud of ya father and George! Looking forward to these videos cheers 👍

Cheers Agi, all the best for 2024 😊
Lovely looking machine. I like these 30s post vintage bikes. Got a 31 Sunbeam myself. They can be really reliable riders. Is there something wrong with tank?
Thanks Friend, No there's nothing wrong with the tank, I just want to replace it with something lighter for now. Don't worry, I will be restoring the original and adding genuine mudguards, toolbox, seat and lights over the next several years. Would love to meet you for a ride in 2024
