As I recall, this was filmed using the Rhode Videomic Pro.

The water is very shallow right there, and the ice is more than thick enough to hold him. He is also always on leash when we go on walks.

Actually, they're probably hibernating.

Unfortunately I'm not really setup to do that very easily. I have a fairly slow internet connection where I am, and uploading/hosting the full original file would be difficult.

And yet the Neo can do all that and possibly clip the tree and carry on rather that just stop, or a mini pro would see the tree and go around it not stop and get stuck! How is the Flip obstacle stop great? Both the Flip and Neo should handle accidents with zero damage. Missed opportunitie on the Flip not to have a front avoidance that would allow the drone to carry on!

I've been surprised by how critical a lot of people seem to be of this drone.

@hellohogo You are missing the point, people that care about camera quality are not people that are buying a selfie drone they are buying Air3 or Mavic series drones. And never care about a drone that follows them but poorly! This drone and the Neo can not track moving vehicles and what's the point of having an obstacle avoidance system that does not even work in tracking mode?

I filmed the same test on the same trail with the Neo, so yes it can do it too, but the camera's not nearly as good. The Mini 4 Pro doesn't have prop guards, so it's too vulnerable to fly safely in these conditions.

@ I have prop guards for my mini four Pro because I have a waiver with the FAA to fly over people so prepared for that one. My flip should be here soon, so we shall see. 🤗

I've personally never found full obstacle avoidance to be a big deal. It's helpful, but not a deal breaker IMO. Remember also that the Flip is much cheaper than the mini 4 pro.

Unfortunately I don't have the Hover Air X1 Pro Max on hand to test side-by-side with the Flip. They certainly look to be closely matched on paper, though I do think the Flip has an advantage with its 3 axis gimbal. The hover Air has a 2 axis gimbal + electronic image stabilization, kind of like the Neo. It'd certainly be an interesting comparison to test!

Lol the drone would be grabbed and broken as the noise would piss people off!

I'll be filmed a more in-depth video on the automated features in the Flip, so I'll incorporate such erratic movement tracking into that test. Thanks for the suggestion! The Neo performed well in this regard, so I expect the Flip to also put in a good performance.

Obstacle detection is decent, better than the Neo, but I have yet to find a drone which can fully deal with the complexity of the vegetation in a temperate rainforest. Thin twigs are particular difficult for these systems to navigate around. Tracking and obstacle avoidance in the Flip aren't perfect, but they are very good IMO.

@@Illuminationsfromtheattic In the video it looks as if it was the Neo, except of course for the image quality. Try out the Hover X1 Pro and be surprised how much further Hoverair is in tracking algorithms.

It's been awhile since I tested the Ronin 4D, so my memory isn't entirely clear, but as I recall there was a noise, though not a very loud one.

The Flip has ToF sensors on its front, so it's more capable at detecting obstacles, and it seems to me that the subject tracking is better too. The big improvement is to image quality (much better camer plus a 3 axis gimbal), and it's faster. I'm going to be publishing a number of side-by-side tests as soon as I've finished filming them.

Yep, that's Longview alright, Lake Sacajawea! I've got a noise test between the Flip, Neo, and Air 3S in the works - my impression is that while it's not maybe not louder than other drones, it does have a rather irritating pitch to it.

Yes, Pelican products outside of their core business seem to be highly variable in quality, and I'd be wary of anything that falls under the "Pelican Outdoor" brand. Some of it's really good (the laptop case and waterproof phone case I mentioned), but I don't think Pelican is actually making "Pelican Outdoor" products in-house, or at least not all of them. When I went to return the lens covers to Pelican, I found out that it appears to be Case Mate that's shipping these products using "Costco Next", so I suspect at least some "Pelican Outdoor" products are actually being manufactured and distributed by Case Mate.

Crop mode is most helpful to me when shooting video. Yes, I could shoot 8K and crop in post, but if I shoot in crop mode I can shoot in 4K at 120fps.
