Kevin will accept short notice fights, but he's definitely not someone who truly wants to improve he's happy to get a check and half ass it. Now, after losing again he's 1-4 in his last five fights he needs to get his walking papers.
While I agree that the unmotivated talk is hard to listen to I'd never advocate for a fighter to get fired or less pay i.e. cut. I'd just wait for it to happen. Fighting is hard sport. Not like basketball or football or anything. If a fighter no longer wants to be the best they will naturally get pushed out.

I'm a big fan of Kevin personally. His willingness to take so many short notice fights and quick turnarounds is unreal. He is definitely a talented fighter. His out of the ring antics are great addition to the lore. He's also a personal favorite of Dana, so he'll be there for a while win or lose. Sadly, I loved his in ring talking that he's almost totally stopped. I think lazy is wrong. Undisciplined maybe, but not lazy.
It's really sad Tsarukyan pulled out, I hope this fight will happen someday. That explains why he was worried during press conference he was not sure if he were good to go

@tee4222 true. The only other guy I know that knocked out meershaert in the first minute of the first round was the guy that did it in the fight right before his fight with khamzhat. Khamzhat has potential huge fights that are way more in his wheel house. Izzy, DDP, Strickland, even Costa. The bo nikal fight will never happen because someone on his team would have to see the potential disaster that fight could be if things go off the rails.Comparison aside. He could find himself fighting off the bottom til bo exhausted him. Maybe not. But why would they put him in that position against an untested guy that arguably has the antedote to the venom that makes khamzhat such a killer. Jones won't fight Aspinwall for the same reason. Probably knows he can beat him but the risk is enormous to the reward. He never fights bo nikal because bo nikal could potentially pull back the curtain and expose a weakness that would be shocking for fans to witness. Or khamzhat sleeps him. But they should know bo nikal is not going to be out as skillled out wrestled or tired out by applying pressure. He's seen that movie a hundred times by more talented athletes. Khamzhat has to turn it into a bar fight or a street brawl and make bo regret that he even started poking this rattle snake. But i would suggest stay away from bo nikal til you can't.
@@chase-db9jo you make some good points. I do think Khamzats striking is a lot better than Bo, though. I also think Khamzats wrestling game is a lot better suited to mma. No doubt Bo’s freestyle wrestling is absolutely elite and he could probably stop Khamzats takedowns, but if he does get taken down, I think Khamzats ground control, grappling and sub game could still be an issue for Bo. Whereas I just can’t see Bo keeping Khamzat down the way Khamzat scrambles. I’m sure his BJJ has improved a lot since his match with Gordan Ryan, but that match showed me that at least at that point, his BJJ wasn’t near Khamzats level. I think it would be a super interesting fight though that I’d love to see.

@MRFIGHTCOMPANION I think the matchmakers think jdm and brady are too tough stylistically I agree. Thai strikers usually struggle with boxers like jdm or blankets like Brady. Leon is on paper more difficult due to his resume and being a very recent former champion but style wise it's a great matchup. Leon has the wrestling to guve Prates a threat but the matchmakers know Leon doesn't use his wrestling like that and with Carlos being taller and having more power and the two having very similar striking styles, it's a good fight for prates but JDM could catch him and Brady could shut him down styke wise so Edwards is the safest because he'll play Prates' game

Retrospect, Hill was never an elite fighter by any means. Sort of the right place right time scenario and he took the belt from a guy in his mid-40s on the way out. His most notable when before that is glass chin Johnny Walker. When he does face elite competition we see what happens. He will never taste that gold again, mainly because of his antics and his ego. Shame too because he was very beloved by a lot of people. He was gaining lots of traction. His TH-cam numbers were pretty high. The fan base loved him. Within a matter of weeks at all crumbled. You can't hide your true nature for very long And he is just a really unlikable dude.

I do like his fighting style, but it’s just how he handled his loss to Poatan that really threw me off. I think he’ll have another chance at UFC gold after beating Jiri, but if Poatan is still champ by then, then he is getting SMOKED… AGAIN!
