Ski Descent (July 2023) Peak Lenin - 7,134m
July 2023 - Peak Lenin is a 7,134m (23,406') summit in the Pamir Mountains. Also known as Abu Ali Ibn Sino Peak or Lenin Chokusu, it has a storied mountaineering and ski history, and is a popular test piece for aspiring mountaineers and Snow Leopards. We traveled to Kyrgyzstan in Summer 2023 to try our hand at skiing Pik Lenin. This video is essentially a video diary. Raw and amateur, it is the result of the few times that we were thinking enough to pull the camera out.
Using Central Asia Travel for BC and ABC lodging and food and horses for some gear transfer, we attempted the mountain unsupported above ABC. 10 days after arriving at basecamp, we were able to successfully summit and ski Pik Lenin on July 12th, 2023. The same day in fact, that 4 others summited and descended Lenin, a Russian guide and two Swiss/French skiers and one Kyrgz local, Maks. You'll see their tracks in the video.
What was the hurry? Well we were on a compressed timeline in order to attempt to Khan Tengri after 'acclimatizing' on Lenin, which we did, but that is a story for another time.
Kyrgyzstan is an incredible place, and we are grateful to everyone we met along the way, locals and mountaineering tourists alike. Thank you! Thank you also to my partners Fritz and Morris and our friends and families for the support.

Well done! I am planning to do the summit next year! How was it? Is is steep? How long did the summit take?
Zurück Zeit gehen die Gletscher überall zurück, aber die Erde steht vor einer kleinen Eiszeit, daher wird sich das ganze bald wieder umkehren.
SICK VIDEO! Did you guys just use regular snowboarding/ski shoes to go all the way up, or did you use alpinism boots with crampons? hard to notice while watching a video. Also did you use ice axe? P.S also a question, how did you know which way to ski/snowboard so you end up in the base camp, and not somewhere else?
Great performence ! Vladimir Ivanovich is a cool dude;-)
Insane. And you had really good pow!
All that for shitty snow !
I enjoyed that . Great footage . Well done 👏
Looks like you got very lucky with the weather and managed to keep the spirits high all along - congratulations!
Daaaaayumm
It’s insane how such naming is ok. Why not name a mountain Peak Hitler? It’s almost the same just Lenin was even more fucked up
Sikvic!!
UNREAL - and amazing
You guys are awesome
😃👍🏻 Great video. As far as I know Pik Lenis is known for larger temperature differences between day/ night. Were lower temperatures (and wind) a problem, or all in all that what to expect at mountains at this altitude?
What a great accomplishment!! Skiing on top looked sick. Great snow. Can't imagine skiing from 7000+ meters😮
13:15 bro fell and did a frontflip to play it off
Hey, cool stuff, guys! We were up there in 2016 but decided against a descent because we had a healthy respect for the crevasses. A snowboarder had gone missing just a few days earlier. So, we ended up hiking back down on foot :D Despite its ease, it's a special mountain, and the approach via the Traveller Pass is something truly unique. Greets from Bavaria
man i didnt want to get stuck on youtube today.... great video
A mountain video without terrible edm music? I must be dreaming...
So glad to run into your video, it's great! We were the guys sitting next to you when you got the cake. It was a great motivation before the summit climb and we got our cake just few days after 😁 Skiing it down looks really sick!
Incredible video. Just the trip, nothing on top.
❤
Nice work, gentlemen! 👍🏼
I have to see Kyrgyzstan before I die.
Welcome to post soviet countries)
Real skiers do pull-ups at altitude. Hat tip, fellas.
This is fr one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. Truly captures it, well done
so sick
So sick
Great effort...
cool stuff, best of luck with everything
Greta video man, all the best with your future endeavours
Pretty rad stuff mate!
0:46 Love the signpost, cmon there must be somewhere nearby less than 3000k. I went camping in Brittany France for my holidays, altitude 5m. Snow was poor though…😎😆
So good!
7:52 Sorry repeat please, not good listen
amazing video! thank you so much
nicely done guys! I am planning to ski it myself maybe 2025
Best of luck, it's a great trip.
Love this. What is awesome is that you don't hide how hard it is. Usually that doesn't make the final edit. and that you are chill. See u in the mtns. Nice vid thx
Altitude is no joke. Thanks for watching.
Ungulate!
Lenin peak is incorrect name, it's Abu Ali Ibn Sino peak
The Tajik name! Thank you for providing that information. I will add that to the description.
Amazing video and great expedition! I did some 6000m peaks in Peru with snowboard a few months ago, also really beautiful and exhausting. After your video I should add Kyrgyzstan to my to-do-list :-)
Thanks for watching! Would highly recommend Kyrgyzstan
ayyyyyye love to see this pop up on the feed!
It’s out there!
So cool. Well produced and deserves a lot of views.
Thanks for watching!
