Mseleku was definitely a genius. His loss was a tragedy but he left behind some uniquely great music. His music was rich, harmonious and melodic. He used fourths something like McCoy Tyner but they were primarily with his left hand. His key changes were his own.

In the history of SA jazz, no one is as underrated as this cat right here. Mseleku was right out of the top draw aling with Masekela, Dollar Brand, Gideon Nxumalo and a host of others. Guy was a genius and his story is all the more remarkable given his disability

Dear Gareth. It's so nice to stumble upon this post of your lovely Dad. I was a graphics student at Staffordshire University between 1991 and 1994. Your Dad was a huge part of my education and did much to shape me in those years. He was definitely the most inspirational teacher I ever had. I love looking back at my sketchbooks from that time which were so influenced by Eric. He was in his photocopier phase back then, encouraging students to 'blow it up big' and going through hundreds of boxes of paper and toner in a quest to cover the art department walls with massive enlargements of sketch book drawings. It was a time of great creativity and fun. I've never known anyone quite like him and can still hear the echoes of the harmonica down the corridors of the Flaxman building. I'm now a photographer and rarely draw (sadly) but still use the lessons of positive and negative space that your Dad taught me. I wish there was a published book out there of his sketchbooks, some really important work in there. I was very sad to hear of Eric's passing, too young. I miss him but am so grateful to have been taught by him.

Forced to stay at home because of this terrible virus has had the effect of making people creative all by themselves. It’s opened a whole new world of music videos to be shared around the world.
