Building a CHICKEN COOP from an old shed. Our plan/what actually happened. Time crunch!!
We ran into a few snags when digging deeper into this 70yr old shed. Now the question is can we get it finished in time. We’ve got 8 weeks to get the girls moved out of the garage.
Wonder what breeds we chose; check out the previous video. More updates to come! If you like these videos please subscribe and hit that thumbs up.
We need sink hole solutions. Any recommendations??

    Hens supposedly lay eggs that are the same colour as their ear lobes because it's determined by the same genes.

    It’s a barrel of joy. I’m thinking of ordering a rainbow assortment from cackle, do you know what the minimum order size is? I only want ~9 , well can only support 10 tops but would get 14 if i could. 😊

    Great video!!! I'm thinking about getting about 6 chicks ... Do you think it's easy or hard dealing with handling raising chickens??

    I use newspaper with paper towels on top of that. If I used woodshavings, I would still put paper towels on top the first few days. I like that you have two waterers. I also use a backup heat lamp (no light, like for a reptile) in case the heat lamp should burn out. It has only happened once but luckily I caught it in time. I turn a white light on during the day all day in their area (at ceiling) and just have the red light on at night. Gets them adjusted for when they go outside. Bantam chicks need the crumbled feed ground up even finer in a blender. It takes about a week before they can eat the crumbled feed straight from the bag. If they get a pasty bottom, wipe with a warm soppy wet paper towel.

    How much did you pay the post office for the shipping and handling?

    • @duckmanjoel
      @duckmanjoel ปีที่แล้ว

      calculated at check out when you buy. About $10 depending on number ordered. Some special purchases include the shipping and handling like the bantam female special.

    I love my Easter Egger girls! They are thiccc and a favorite of my rooster! Plus, if people want to have them be multipurpose and want to cull them and eat them after a while they are huge meaty birds. I'll be keeping my girls till they're done laying then I'll sell them out to people who want a garden bird for pests.

    I don't use wood chips, but it would also be important to show the chicks where the food is with your finger so they don't eat the wood chips. (I see them pecking the wood.)
