I'm Danjo, welcome to my LEGO Channel!
Here you will find videos on motorized LEGO Trains, updates to my LEGO City, design videos, MOCs, speed builds, third party solutions, and more!
The stars of this channel are my LEGO trains (including locomotives and rolling stock) with many unique designs and modifications that you won't find anywhere else on TH-cam.
I'm an independent TH-camr with a background in mechanical engineering, and not associated with LAN (the LEGO Ambassador Network). Therefore, this channel is a solo production and simply a passion of mine 🙂
So buckle up, we're going to run some trains!

Trains versus Trams in LEGO Downtown
Welcome back to Danjo Trains! This video is all about LEGO trains versus trams and the next major development of my Downtown LEGO City.
For context, I recently got my very first LEGO streetcar/tram/trolley from the Holiday Main Street set (10308). I motorized it with Powered Up and took it for a spin around Downtown. Next, I took things a step further by programming the streetcar with Pybricks so that it would be fully automated.
This inspired me to to consider a new train track design for Downtown, which I show in the video. The streetcar has a cool advantage over the trains, but both look great running around the city.
With a bit of clever planning in the near future, I just might be able to run both at the same time!

Welcome back to Danjo Trains! Watch me rebuild my Lego train layout. So, after three years of being in the basement, the train layout has a new home with some proper natural lighting. It's been quite the process. On top of prepping the new room and painting, I also disassembled, packed, and moved all the benchwork and Lego buildings halfway across the city to their new home. Nice work! Thank you for showcasing Pybricks :)
Never knew about these ballast pieces, just two pieces per track piece instead of dozens? I have been making a huge very costly mistake. Why didnt Lego just make those pieces, then I would have known about them. The brown sleepers do look the best, could never work out why people thought black or grey looked better, the only one better is the wood print 1x4 that looks ten outa ten. The old engine shed is so good, maybe even better than Brickcross.
The ballast plates are a must for curved track, they just make everything so much easier!
Two or three trams linked is the way forward, then you can have a few more figs on show. There is also the new red tram with station that looks stunning cruising around town, but hiding the battery box on it is awkward and all the solutions I have tried have their downsides, somehow even though its far smaller the main street tram hides that battery box far better than the red tram. Although the red tram issue might just be down to me being useless at building and never having the time to build. That is some of the largest skirting boarding I have ever seen, it looks around 14 inch...do you live in a palace? If so CONGRATULATIONS on pulling that one off.
The new red tram is a great idea! I wonder if I can get that and the holiday tram automated together so they can run on the same loop without crashing. And no palace unfortunately 😄 just a very old building with some really uneven walls.
Hm
Hi is there any link for doing the reverse train based on colour coding? My layout is too narrow to do a whole loop so I am looking for ways to do a reverse train. Thanks!
Yes! I just added a link to the description for a video tutorial by Eggybricks. My code is very similar and they have a link where you can download their code. Hope this helps!
@ thanks a lot!! It’s very helpful!
People like: hmm, I need to make a decision, what should run in my lego city, train or tram? Meanwhile me: let's do narrow train for my lego city
Nice, I've always been interested in narrow gauge. What type of motors do you use?
@danjotrains well, I actually didn't build it yet, I waiting for pieces, but in project I used Powered Up Medium Motor, battery box and color sensor. If my design is correct and it will work, I will share it in Rebrickable
@@dawidpiotrowski1605 awesome, looking forward to it!
@@danjotrains when I share it, I will definitely send you here link to it😉
Another great video man! Best of luck with updating the city!
So which one looks better around the new track, the locomotive or the streetcar? 🤔
I think the overseer at 0:45 agrees, time to knock down some walls and keep expanding the city
He's definitely eager to do some deconstruction.
Nice, like the ideas. Gonna install a tram along the street and was indeed thinking about the corners.
@@petermaris9697 Thanks! I can confirm the roads work well with the Holiday Tram.
@danjotrains good to hear. Got that one and will convert it to a normal tram.
Can you please share the design file for the module? I could really use these covers in my small lego city for my tram line
Sure thing, I'll see about adding them to Rebrickable soon!
@@danjotrains I meant the 3d printed part
@@belairmp3130 Those I bought from Trixbrix, so no file unfortunately.
Adorable 😻😁
2spooky4me I would add some spooky skeletons in moc 💀☠️💀
Great idea! I can't believe I forgot the skeletons.
I love the trains and plants, but why does it have to be spooky?
Originally, I really wanted to make a haunted forest on this part of my table but that will have to wait until I get a bigger room. For now, just the train shed will be haunted 😄
I love your rendition and the spooky details you added to the Old Train Engine Shed! I m glad you enjoyed the build and added your personal touches!
Thanks! 😁I'm really happy I got the set, thank you for the fantastic design!
The vegetation looks great, looks like natural growth!
When you build the Engine Shed can you build mirage building that is any good building in mirage building
It's good to see another channel using TrixBrix! It seems that those pieces increase the details a lot on the tracks 🎉
Definitely! All of their train accessories and custom track are amazing 😁
Can't wait to see it completed!
cool video !!!
My Favo train. And also I could'nt resist to do some outside video's with it 👊🤩👍
Interesting Video. It nade me curious for more. So I subscribed 🤩👍
Awesome video and result! Another little scene I would add is Batman on the top of the Daily Bugle/Avengers Tower, while he's watching for the joker at the newspaper 😂 BTW trixbrix is a great addition! Are you planning to use also their train slopes to connect the layers of your city?
@@bomber_cost My city needs a bit more space to connect the layers, but that's something I would love to do! And yes, I'll definitely add in Batman 😁
Subway would be super cool!
your crocodile locomotive would look great in the old train shed
Hopefully it fits! 😁
what if you got a 2021 batcave from matt reeves batman movie and connected it to the harry potter train station in the underground? i think they look similar enough so it could work well. Also i love the build, you never dissapoint!
Thanks! And that's a great idea, there could be multiple batcaves in the same city.
That orange train looks awesome
Love your ideas, looking forward to seeing the progression!
I love planning videos! The batcave idea is the best!
I’m excited to see these plans get built!
pls no more down town
But I like down town
I love the inspector !❤
Hello, may I ask how big your bottom and top platforms are? The layout definitely looks very good
Thanks! The bottom is about 284cm by 115cm (112" by 45.5") and the top is about 182cm by 92cm (71.5" by 36").
The inspector looks like he knows what he's doing
moving is great , as long as the city comes back bigger and better
Can you motorise and add lighting?
@@CF-Gaming01 Not with the regular Powered Up battery hub, since it only has two ports and I'm using them both for motors. But with third party hardware it's possible!
why down town
it is trash
What parts do you use like the numbers
@@mrmemesgaming23 If you check out the instructions on Rebrickable, I have a parts list with everything you need.
Love the design. Is there any way to get the instructions in case it doesn‘t get selected for Series 5?
@@KatziKasten Thanks! If not selected, I'll see about making the instructions available on Rebrickable
@@danjotrains I‘m so sad your locomotive wasn‘t selected…
@@KatziKasten I'm debating between resubmitting to Series 6 or just adding the design to Rebrickable.
That was, simply put... Very enjoyable! :D Loved the little 7810 at the end, powered by a circuit cube ;)
This is my next build! Thank u so much for the cool design like Lego should have done.
No problem, glad you like it!
Idc that it's not lego, I love it bro
Thanks! 😁
Using the standard hub and controller you don't need to hold the buttons either, I don't see the point of using Pybricks in this case
If you're using a standard train motor, it's true that you don't need to hold the buttons down. But with the large motors and the standard controller, I found that you do have to always keep them pressed and can't increment them. Another solution is to use the Lego Powered Up app.
Excellent video, do you already have the instructions to make this adaptation? I need to know what those motors are and the parts necessary to put my son's train in a similar way. Thanks
Thanks! 😁 I do have free instructions available, you can check out part 2 of the video for the link or look up Danjo_trains on Rebrickable. The motors are "Powered-Up L-motors" from Lego.
I don't know which bothers me more. The 3D-printed bootlegos, or the black 2 x 2 jumper plate under the corners of the sidewalk. 🤣 Great video.
Ahaha thanks 😁 And I will eventually get around to changing those jumper plates.
LEGO really needs to make a solution for this
W song choice ❤ Absolute classic
Jup. I agree still neat to built it, still in the box😅. I love the emerald night to.
Literally thomas if he was german, awesome work, did you use custom parts for this?
@@totallytidmouth Just the motor/battery! It's from Circuit cubes.
