Lovely bike Ken, do you lose many rocker covers?
No. With it being a 70s bonneville the covers are long oval shape covering both tappets & are held on by 6 allen bolts & where as one might slightly loosen to allow a slight wheep of oil out. Never heard of one coming off like the round screw on type on pre 70s triumphs.
@@kennethhart8422 my exhaust fell off once!...doesn't anything fall off yours?
@@kitchencapers7183 naa not really. Been lucky. & until 2014 it was my only bike so got 100% of my attention & maintenance time. & now with more bikes it gets a quiet easy life haha but still check it over before every ride. Only real prob i had with it out on a ride was when a back wheel bearing went 20 mile from home & by time i was 10 mikes the back end was wobbling all over the place but did get home.
Good vid Ken, your T120 sounds great; would you recommend them?
Yea. Think they are an underrated bike. With only 80 hp & a heavy bike. Many think they are just an retro funky looking cruiser thing for tootling round country lanes at 50/60 mph mostly. But they have tons of torque & from 4000 revs or below. So when you open the throttle power is there instantly & you better hang on haha. Your high up in the speedo clock mph range before many bikes have had time to get up into the tacko rpm range to get their speed up to similar. But as the bike is so comfortable. easy to ride & deliver their power smoothly at low rpm that fools you into thinking your not going fast because it sounds & feels so easy. As for the weight like many heavy bikes it mostly disappears once you move. as for cornering. if you actually know how to turn a bike correctly. the weight isn't a problem. & well....i think they look fantastic as well. So yea i really recommend them haha.
Great review! I think they look and sound the biz.
This is 1/5 videos of the mass ride out the morning after this. Here's a link to the first ride video. th-cam.com/video/vNYhssoNeIE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=m5QmM9-NpqbFYwUW
Hola me gusto mucho tu video gracias. Muy buenas motos y lugares👍
Thank you for making this documentary. I love that film.
Thanks. I didnt actually make the programme. I copied it from a tv programme called the 'Footage Detectives' & put it on my channel. Its also in the extras section of the recently new dvd re-release...'the leather boys'. I really like it too. & i know some of the people in it & i see them most September's when i ride down to the ace cafe in london. its a 300 mile ride there & 300 back for me haha. But its spread over friday. Saturday & sunday.
Great video Ken. Is your T120 as good as your T140?
Suppose yes & no. Both have their own pros & cons. The t120s power could beat the t140 on back roads with the first 3 gears...maybe even 2. But the t140 has a sound.. feel... presence...look & smell all of its own. The t140 was my only bike from 2004 when i got back into bikes after having no bikes since 1983... till 2012 when i got the bullet to give the t140 a day or 2 off now & again for a rest haha. Then got the t120 for long runs down to london. T140 is running fine & reliable but could do with a engine rebuild. I often think of going down to 2 bikes for ease instead of 4. But its like deciding which of your kids to get rid of haha. They all put a big smile on my face when i pull up back at my house after a ride. even my honda cg 125 haha. The honda will be the first to go. Then probably the t140 if right price was offered. Need the t120 as long as i do the long trips. Then it'll prob go. Can see myself in few years with one or two bikes.. & both will probably be small singles as in something like new enfield 350s. I retire from work in april. Will see how i feel about this stuff after iv had a good few months to see what lifes like. then.
Yeah I understand. I've ridden since 1983 regularly with a year or 2 off; I've had many bikes and regret selling some but especially my T100P 1973, which I sold cheap to pay off a court fine. I'm retired now and have a 883 and a bandit 650; I've tried small bikes but always get frustrated with the lack of power so I don't keep them long. I decided that I'd always have a bike that can do a ton. Even though I'm content with the bikes I have; they don't stir me like the old British bikes and I'm still hankering after one. If I was you I'd keep the T140.
@@kitchencapers7183 . I prob wont sell any for a few years & until im 100% certain. When im riding my t120 i too like to have my daily ton haha. its so easy with a twist if the wrist. & my t140 is my ticket to coolness & 'street cred' haha. I use it for classic shows & its tax & mot exempt. My bullet is my relax ride. Bikes can overtake me & i dont give a hoot. Well most times anyway haha. My honda cg 125 is so handy for going to work.. shops...town centre etc. Its small & quiet & can be parked just about anywhere discreetly.
Yeah good for you. I went through a faze a couple of years ago, thinking I'd get another small bike and just tootle around taking in the sights, but then I realised that I could ride slow on my present bikes and it was much more fun, 'cos I had more road presence and if I felt like it I could chase after any offending car drivers! lol
Now i understand about studs on jackets. If you hit the road you slide and dont tear your jacket up.
Yep. But apparently they can heat up & burn you a bit like cigarette burns if slide long enough haha. But iv never had that.
Good vid Ken, do Northern Rockers hold any other events in the year?
No not regular events anyway. But the event is held at squires cafe leeds so many of the local members do meet up for a summer ride or to a local bike/car show etc. Its also actually a charity event so prosedes from the event go to Peter Pan's Nursery. A local charity that supports Pre School Children with special needs.
That's great that it's for charity. Is Squires far from you? I know you visit Morpeth M/Cs cafe from your vids.
@@kitchencapers7183 yea its about 1 hour 50 mins & about 110 miles which i normally do in one go. so i dont get there as much as id like whereas the morpeth cafe is only about 9 miles.
Yeah that's quite a way for a cup of tea; that Morpeth cafe looks cosy!
Wow 😮 this is my childhood
Yep. And mine. Have quite a few of them recorded & always watch for ones i havent coming back on tv again.

Great little doc, about a really great film and what seems to be a great cafe. One minor point of correction, Sidney Furie isn't an American, he's actually Canadian, at least by birth and upbringing. From what I understand, he made a couple of films in Toronto in the late 50's before moving on.
Did you colorise this Ken?Do you know where the footage is originally from?
No its shot in lovely colour. Theres a link to the whole thing on my facebook page here somewhere. Its got the end credits on. Might be some info there.
Nice one Ken!
Iv got the whole thing on my facebook page. Heres a link. facebook.com/share/v/14XzQcYui9/
Ahh the good old days! I caught the back end of it, my older brother was a ton up boy, I had an ex GPO Bantam, he had a DBD34.
I had a D1 bantam field bike in early 1970s when i was 12 ish. It was red all over but no lights or mudguards might have been ex gpo. Me & mates had all sorts of small brit bikes on the fields back then like most of us older bikers did when younger.
Passed my test in '68, me and my mates used to hang out where the "big boys" did at Billy Mill roundabout at the bottom of the Coast Road and the Berkeley Tavern in Whitley Bay. The sights, sounds and smells of those days will stay with me forever! PS. Just subscribed, you've got some great content!
@@WOLFIE-96B-UK haha well well well. I was one of the biker maniacs in the late 70s that used to park at berkeley tavern car park & fly around the one way system at break neck speeds with other bikes. If not there we'd be at tranwell runway or westgate road hill or somewhere.
Haha small world! We used to fly down the Beehive road from Earsdon to New Hartley at breakneck speed over the humpback bridge, and see how fast we could take the sharp bend at Feathers. We were all invincible back then!
We are still here mod clothes music , mod culture lives on , best ever.😎

Wonderful.
Thank you for uploading such an historical account of English motorcycling during the 1960’s. I was not aware of the postal strike causing delays in Small Pox vaccination deliveries back then. So many thanks to all riders who took part. Your efforts may well have saved my life as I recall being given the vaccination during my early childhood. According to research the outbreak began in Bradford UK during 1962, eventually being isolated to an immigrant from Karachi. It would seem mankind has learned nothing since those bygone years other than improved riding skills..

Dont worry the hippies and skinheads are around the corner. 😊
Fonzie Drops In was my favorite episode of the entire run. Even with the windbreaker, the music cues and camera angle at the end was absolutely epic and wholesome at the same time.
Poo Mods...yeah thems fighting words lol
Disappointed. Thought somehow each bike would be identified
Harley Shovelhead the first few episodes. I think the tank was dark blue or black. The silver tank bike is a Triumph. That's most of the shots from season 2 on. I forget what the dirt bike was. The last year of the series they borrowed a title clip from CHiPs for the Motorcycle Hums portion of the song. The big disk brake on the late 70s Kawasaki cop bike was not in the show.
thanks Ken. Love it.

As gay as a scarlet lipstick...lol.
aye...its an ok-ish film, but i find i leave long periods between digging it out & watching it. but can watch the bike scene regularly.
It's good to have a blessed bike.
i blessed my own brakes the other day.....after a close shave incident haha.
WHO????????????????????????????
Nice Panther
🏆👍🎬⭐
I was on a group ride today and it was too fast, 70-80 mph is more than fast enough.
yea the're my sort of faster speeds for the odd short burst of speed on back b roads when you get a decent stretch of road way out in the country, especially when faster overtaking, but strait line high speed on dual carrage ways & motorways etc of 100 mph or way over doesn't really do anything for me, no skill needed there.
Good to see relaxed group riding.
Yea i do like ridng fast-ish. But also slow sometimes. You can actually see nice things going past haha.
Lovely bonnie
Good variety of bikes
Yea can be quite a few bikes there sometimes. & its not really an official bikers cafe. its a all public cafe. With anything from nice nice little old ladies to grumpy old men bikers sitting inside together haha.
I was a rocker on the weekdays while travelling to work on my Triumph Tiger Cub motorbike, and after passing my test on it, I moved to a more powerful Triumph Speed Twin. I loved motorbikes simply for the speed and going low when cornering. On the scooter, you couldn't go low. However, at the weekends I'd transformed into a Mod, riding my mate's Vespa or Lambretta, and nightclubbing at the Flamingo and the Marquee club. I even ended up going on Ready Steady Go
Yea when i was about age 9 ish the first motorized thing i rode was my older brothers friends lambretta on a large field & i loved it haha. Then from about age 11 onwards me & mates would get unused or unwanted wrecked motorbikes..the usual suspects..bantams... tiger cubs etc & ride them on wast land till they stopped/broke because we couldn't fix them. But another one would turn up from somewhere...god knows where..cant remember. I passed my bike test in early 1976 age 17 ish & first bike on road was 1968 tiger 90.
Great video...
