    The blessing and curse of The Silmarilion - falling asleep not remembering exactly when. One of the few advantages of actual text books is to be able to remember what was the last read page.

    I don't get it. A man has severe autism and runs on a completely different track from everyone else. He doesn't think about the future or consequences, neglecting emotionality and ends up dying because of it..... What was this book trying to say and why?

      Albert Camus wrote The Stranger to explore his philosophy of absurdism, which is the idea that life has no inherent meaning. The book suggests that life’s events are random and that searching for a deeper meaning or justice is futile. Meursault's acceptance of life’s absurdity and his lack of remorse are meant to illustrate the absurdist philosophy that one must accept the meaninglessness of life and still find personal freedom and peace. It portrays life as inherently meaningless, and Meursault’s detachment symbolizes a rejection of imposed meanings or values. His eventual death is not a consequence of neglecting emotions or future planning per se, but rather a result of his refusal to conform to societal expectations. Camus uses Meursault’s character to suggest that one can find peace by accepting life’s absurdity without needing to fit into conventional molds of thought or behavior. it's Camus' way of illustrating his philosophy of the absurd. Maybe?

    I am reading along with this audio book and have found, so far, one whole chapter omitted and several paragraphs skipped in other chapters. not sure why this is happening. I am going to see a stage production of this tomorrow in Orlando and wanted to refresh my comprehension of it a bit before seeing it.

    This has to be a Mind's Eye production. It's very good although for me the Nicol Williamson version, despite being abridged, is the best. This one is still awesome though. It's been way too long to remember for sure but I'm pretty sure this version is the same one that I used to check out from the library on cassette tapes in the pre- internet good old days.

    2:44 What is "kansayan" ?

    • @expandinghorizons8223
      @expandinghorizons8223 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In The Book of Five Rings (Go Rin no Sho) by Miyamoto Musashi, "kansayan" (often written as "kanzan" or "kanzan no koto") translates roughly to "observation" or "perception." This concept is integral to Musashi's teachings on strategy and combat. Kansayan refers to the ability to carefully observe and perceive not only the opponent's actions but also the broader situation, including one's own movements and environment. It emphasizes acute awareness and clear understanding, free from bias or emotional distraction. This heightened state of perception allows a warrior or strategist to anticipate actions, adapt quickly, and exploit weaknesses effectively. Musashi places a strong emphasis on mental clarity and the development of sharp observation skills as a critical component of mastering the way of strategy.

    If relativism is true, then it is relatively true. Therefore, for some people, its true that relativism is false. If relativism is true, then it is false. If your foundation of truth is a contradiction, then nothing can be true.
