Skidding logs and cutting firewood with the Farmall MD and the Kioti
มุมมอง 5633 ปีที่แล้ว
This was filmed over a couple different days. We were sectioning up a large oak tree that uprooted, getting some saw logs and firewood using the Farmall MD, and also the Kioti CK3510SE with the LS dump trailer. Not everything went as planned. I even had problems with the camera so I didn’t capture everything I wanted to on the video.

Tell me how to set up angle. Don't just start plowing
Your demonstration of this was awesome! I was looking into getting a plow for my food plot(it’s virgin soil), but I don’t have a tractor. I don’t even know what kind of tractor I should get but I’m definitely going in the compact route!
Good music
Not so compact of a tractor
Well well well… Mr Picky over here.
Keeping the RPM at 2000 or above all the time allows passive regen to happen.
Cool idea, I like people who think inside the (dump) box.
Works great easy design. I see the dirt is kinda wet it's sticking in the bucket. The results would have been even better if the moisture content was lower. Very nice!! Tarp your piles will help.
Wow that’s nice. I’m looking to buy one. Looked like it didn’t struggle to much.
@@VicsYard thank you! Yes that tractor has a lot of power. It’s been a great machine.
@@JoshHovis do you have the reverse lever on the left-hand near steering wheel? If so can you do that at higher RPM?
@@VicsYard yes there is a forward and reverse lever to the left up by the steering wheel. You can use it at high rpm but you have to have the clutch engaged in order to shift from forward to reverse and vice versus, and I always come to a complete stop before switching from forward to reverse to keep the wear on the machine down of course. Another nice feature is that it has synchronized gears so you can shift through the 4 low gears in low range and the 4 high gears in high range just like you would in a truck or car with a stick shift. You cannot shift from high to low ranges while moving. It has a throttle pedal and the right so it is very easy to shift gears if need be. It’s just a great tractor that is very easy and fun to drive and run and has a lot of power to get tasks done.
Awesome
Dude this was great!!!! Totally doing this, thank you for posting!!!
Great job!!!!
What is the gearbox ratio on this Rotary Cutter? Good luck with your good work.
Buy a skidsteer waste your time 😅😅😅
Is it just me or would it not be more effective tipping onto the screen from the other side? Looks like you could run the spill pile again
I often do run the spill pile multiple times. There’s a lot of factors though like how damp the soil is that I run. I personally don’t want the run the dirt from the other side because I want the material to be screening away from my machine. Thanks
It wasnt as good for me. To much faster frame stuff. You did a nice job though on the site.
Thanks

What make and model of tractor is that?
Case international 485
All of us can move dirt. Just loose yourself while finding yourself. I use the weight of the tree to help take tree down. Love me tractor backhoe. Any land can be made better, God gave us dirt to mold into what ever we need.
did you try dumping the dirt from the screen side.
I wouldn’t want the debris to be falling towards me or my machines, so no I never did that.
Super helpful, thanks for posting this!
really helpful, thank you
Two single acting cylinders would work. Hook them up one to each side of your remote outlet connection. Moving the lever one way or the other would push the blade accordingly.
Nicely Done!!!
I have watched this video over and over, got another question for you, thx for answering my first question, here’s my second question, have you plowed without the coulters on it? I ask because I have so many people that say they don’t have them or if they do have them, they take them off, what is your opinion on the coulters, anxiously awaiting your response and keep the videos coming fellow farmer.
I have not plowed without coulters on it. In the big picture I’m sure whether the coulters are on or not the ground will get turned over. I think the coulters keep the sod cut before the plow share lifts and turns the ground giving it a cleaner edge. Other than that, the end result of preparing the ground for seed can be accomplished with or without. We have some areas we use a rototiller instead of the plows and the end result is very comparable. One other thing that comes to mind is if the ground is tilled or plowed every year or so I’m sure it will turn fairly easily either with or without the coulters on. If it is an area that has been let go for a while the coulters might help the machine a bit breaking through the sod. Hope this helps. I’m sure either way you’ll get it done. Thanks and good luck
Grew up doing this kind of work & this is all u need to manage a food plot thank me later
Hey Josh, I just got a Dearborn two roll plow exactly like yours except mine doesn’t have the coulters on it, I will will find them real soon in the future, here’s my question, does the front bar that holds your front coulter interfere with any part of the 3 point hitch when you raise or lower it?
Yes, the front coulter did have the potential to interfere. There is an adjustment. I just loosened the bolt and adjusted it down further so the front coulter was a little lower and now it is good to go, so when it is raised up it won’t or can’t make contact with the tractor. That’s a good observation on your part. Luckily I noticed it right away and made the adjustment before I raised it the whole way and did any potential damage. Good luck with your set up. Thanks
I’ve watched your series a couple of times. I’m still trying to decide if I want a backhoe attachment or just rent a mini excavator. How many feet could you work in a day? My compliments on your videos.
Well no comparison, an excavator is going to be a lot faster and more efficient . I'm not sure how many feet in a day. I use that backhoe alot and have no regrets in the additional cost. There are limitations, but when I need it, it's very convenient. Good luck
Remodified
Great video. I have a pivoting snowplow mounted on my larger two wheel drive tractor too. Mine only has one larger hydraulic ram mounted on top. Wish I could include a picture. The 1950 Massey tractor has weighted tires and heavy duty chains. Good luck this winter. Thanks for the informative video!
A little patience and time and a tractor can do what an excavator or dozer can.
nice toy
Great video
Angel looks to steep
Thank you. It works well for me. I’m sure there is a better way to make one than what I have done. Although I still have to tap on the screen to shake off some debris every now and then, and if it was a lesser angle I’m positive there would be more need for that. I appreciate your point though.
@@JoshHovis I am building one now @ 30* is that close to what you’re is ?
Josh - Can you tell me what brand thumb you used, and if it was Mechanical or Hydraulic? Thanks!
I believe the thumb on my machine was manufactured by Kioti. When I purchased the tractor and backhoe, the dealer installed the thumb. It is a 2019 and I have read that was the first year Kioti made their own thumb. I hope this helps. Thanks
I have this same cutter do you know what the blade part number is also what size is the nut for the blade
I do not know this information off the top of my head but I'll see if I can find out and let you know
Do you have rear weights on tractor?
The rear tires are filled for ballast.
Should be enough. Thanks for info.
Nice backfurrow.
OnPoint good video I’m going to build one but I’m too cheap. I think I will use logs instead of 2x6 .
I understand that completely. When I built this, lumber was no where near the price that it is now. Thanks and good luck
Thanks for this man. We just bought a 585 and was wondering how well it would pull a 3 bottom.
We've been really impressed with this tractor. It has ample power for the 3 bottom. Really enjoy the synchronized transmission for getting around the property also. Congratulations on your 585. Hopefully you have the same experience we've had.
@@JoshHovis We have a 585 which we have used for 20 years with no issues. Nice machine for chore work and we use it to cultivate / side dress snap beans and sweet corn. It also works well for PTO work.
Have you ever encountered any soil in which the 2 bottom was too much? I'm looking for a plow to pull behind my CK35 (manual transmission), and am waffling between a single 16" or a two bottom 14" It's a 1 acre garden, so I wouldn't really be saving any time with two. My primary concern is for the machine.
I have not had any issues with pulling a 2 bottom with this tractor. With a manual transmission you would actually have more power than I do with a hydrostatic transmission. I think you'd be fine with a 2 bottom. Of course it depends on how Rocky your soil is. If you are plowing super rocky soil you could always get a single bottom...it will just take you longer. Good luck
@@JoshHovis Thanks! I appreciate your insight.
A “farmers” angled back cut? Extremely dangerous. Trees should never be felled with that incorrect dangerous technique.
Thank you B S
I wish you went a little slower. For 1st timmers
Just picked up and used a old 3 bottom plow. Pulled with my Branson 3515. Very impressed. Plowed deep and overturned everything great.
👍 nice!

What’s the HP of your Kubota? I’ve got a B2650 and I’m trying to decide between a single or two bottom plow..😊
