Game Summary (may have spoilers)
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The New York Yankees faced the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 4 of the 1950 World Series at Yankee Stadium, with Whitey Ford starting for the Yankees and Bob Miller on the mound for the Phillies. New York aimed to complete a sweep of the series, having controlled the first three games. The Yankees' lineup, led by Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Berra, entered the contest with confidence, while the Phillies, known as the "Whiz Kids," needed a win to extend their postseason hopes. The game was a critical moment in a World Series that had already showcased strong pitching and timely hitting.
The Yankees quickly established control in the first inning, taking advantage of an error and timely hits by Yogi Berra and Joe DiMaggio to score two early runs. Ford delivered a dominant performance, silencing the Phillies' offense through eight innings, allowing only scattered hits. In the sixth, Berra added to the lead with a solo home run, and Bobby Brown's triple capped a three-run inning. The Phillies attempted a rally in the ninth inning, capitalizing on a pair of Yankee errors and adding two unearned runs, but Allie Reynolds closed the door to secure the victory.
The Yankees' 5-2 win clinched their 13th World Series championship, marking their second sweep in three years. Ford's poise on the mound and Berra's contributions at the plate were instrumental in the win. The Phillies' promising season ended on a sour note, though their young core remained a bright spot for the future. The Yankees' dominance reaffirmed their position as the premier franchise in baseball during the era.

Starts with Frankie Frish interview. Note how , like Caesar, Frankie often refers to himself in the 3rd person.
The Cardinals had a great September winning the pennant and the world series in 7 games with the Yankees. However those pesky Mets almost spoiled it all. The Mets really battled that finall weekend in St. Louis. I was 11 in St. Louis and remember it well.
I was a Bullets fan at the time, but what a lineup for the Knicks!
Is that Bart Starr picture from high school?
Thank you for sharing!!! Great Interview!!!!
Enberg showing why he was one of the best.
Fran Tarkenton would be injured in a game in 1977 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and would miss the rest of that season. He never won a Super Bowl.
Ai voice?
Hope its not too cringy, I've had voice issues all this month from a throat illness, so hoping this is something that everyone enjoys as substitute.
Ernie and Paul! There were few better! The pitching strategies still fascinate me. Why did Houk leave Rozema in during the bottom of the 9th?? Even without analytics, Houk should have known better. Deeply stuck in his paradigm.
Who's the guy giving those mid-inning sports reports? He's fantastic.
Young Tom davis
2:19:00 foreshadowing. Steelers at Ravens
Believe the advent of videotape caused the loss of the games as the tapes were re-used. Oh, what the NHL would pay if a copy was still available so they could market and sell it. Shows that prior to cable deals the professional leagues made their money at the turn styles.
Did Roger Craig always look 70 years old?
The great Marty Glickman! He practically invented play-by-play broadcasting.
Thank you for posting this. Wish you a happy holiday.
I actually listened to the game (the WCBM Baltimore Colts radio broadcast). I remember Burt Jones Set a record of 17 completions in a row (however, most of them were passes out in the flat to running back Lydell Mitchell).
Good memory, Bert Jones was a great QB!
Chuck Thompson & Vince Bagli on the Colts broadcast.
I absolutely love listening to these old games.
Cincy fan…first NFL game I watched on TV.
50 years ago on December 21st 1974
Sounds great.
One of the most dramatic World Series games ever played. Saved by Bobby Richardson on Willie McCovey's line drive with two outs in the last of the 9th. A classic radio call by George Kell. Thank you for sharing this with us.
This game featured 5 players who had children who played in either the NBA or the WNBA. I'll let you figure out who I am talking about there.....
This is absolutely wonderful
Seven brothers and 2 kings con romans about to he murdered by billions lol... all their titus will is fraud they just bragged and that's minora aka minuer and not Torah and rah think they free too in the navy Jonathan embezzlement lol billions wil die they think they free lol cops and milk will be murdered with them lol

How do you acquire these old games from radio stations?
Fun fact bob Cerv helped Weston btw from there
Where do you get these? They are awesome.
What was left unsaid is the Rams kicked Dallas's assend 38-14 on MNF-December 15 It was 38-0 before the Cowboys scored
53:29 Bret Boone's 36th Homerun
Thanks for haring the game.
Tom Seavee pitching. Wish I could see it But listening to game. That's something I did alit in 1970. Big Mets fan
This is incredible that I get to listen to this. I can imagine being there. Can you imagine the travel what that was like in 1970?
I am always so pleasantly surprised with how much I learn and enjoy these.
Wow! The price of a Lower Box Seat ticket for the 1962 World Series was $12.00. Compare that to prices in 2024...the cheapest seats were going for $1,100. Insane!
Thanks for the action. I never get tired of games from the sixties.

3:06:38 for the final pitch
One of the great days of my life. Went to school and at about 11:30, the principal called for me and said my mother was waiting for me outside and wouldn't say why. So I popped into the car and said, "what's up"? At that point she announced my father was waiting for me at the Stadium with 2 tickets to the game. Talk about ecstasy!
