pretty cool video!
I plan on securing a 5 GSR or 6 in about 2 yrs time. been saving and investing alot these past 17 yrs, So i think i owe it to myself to pick one of these up myself. And yes i too was one of those GT kids of the PS1 days. this was deff one of my most driven vehicles in that game!!
Thank you Sir for this video. Beautiful Evo. I drive an 02 EVO Vll, and agree and totally understand where you're coming from. There's not too many Evos in my State and I can't go anywhere without the car drawing attention. I didn't buy for that reason it's just because of what it is. Thanks again, from 🇦🇺
What if I told you that Mitsubishis suspension was 20 years ahead Mercedes, it took 20 years for Mercedes-Benz to master their suspension.
All of the problems you have with the V are fixed in the much better IX... Good interview but a bit dull on the driving shot front. I've never seen an Evo driven so much off boost and to the speed limit 😂
4cyl one for sale near me with 545,000 kms.
Currently have a 10. I'm getting a 6 next😊
Reviews a v8 complains about fuel usage 😂
that's not an evo that's a five headed dragon
Uk watching here.. evo 5 in the past. Think my vids can be watched 😂 Great car.. amazing response while driving fast😅
Mines coming in September! Would you mind sharing your wheel set up?
There wasn't an evo 5 TME and we didn't get the evo 7 here in the US. I don't know if I can watch anymore of this.
Looking at a 2000 2.3 with 137k miles. What are some things to look out for? Is this a lot of miles? Not familiar with them
Putting the gas mileage as a con in a sports car is like complaining about how low a sports car is…..comes with the territory.
I just bought one with 200,000 miles on it. Still runs like a top..... For now. Just replacing a few hoses and some sensors. Still a lot of fun. We"ll see if this turns into a triumph or a money pit. Still love the car though. She is not perfect. But I only bought it for the fun
Is that a TME front bumper?
Hi, do you still have this car? How do you rate them? I'm looking at a 2.2 because it meets emissions in London. The 2.8 I'd have to pay £12.50 to go into London which is about 15 dollars at a guess so not really an option.
Beautiful car. Did you buy this from Bruno in NJ?
I own an Evo V in the US as well and I also have the same exact Ralliart keychain :) Where in the States are you?
Hello from Alberta, Canada. Great vid sir… I’d take anyone of em, but I do fancy the Evo 6 or 8. I do have a Evo X , MR P and love it 👍. Bought it brand new in 2009, Done a fair of modding /tuning. Burnt a valve in cylinder 3 and it sat for 10 years, rebuilt it last year, and it’s been great ever since… Only 66,000 km on it. Evos are such great platforms.
Anything specific I should look out for when shopping for a 4 or 5? I'm going to buy one from the auction, so it will be sight unseen with the exception of having someone do an inspection and take photos for me.
Underbody rust is notorious
I'm having a hard time choosing between an evo 5 or 6 and a FD Rx-7 . You may have made up my mind.
Shenandoah backwards! Felt really weird for me to watch haha Looks like you had a great time!
Looks like fun
Nice Evo! Previous owner did some nice upgrades
Owning an* EVO V in America
Love mines..... had a 8 and now my 5. Got a few leads on parts but this has been my dream car along with my FD RX7
dude this is soo funny you say this comment, I just started playing Carx street on PC and my 2 cars i have current are a modded AWD rotory FD rx7 and and EVO 5 GSR. Great mines think alike😂
It’s literally *3 greatest of all time
Congrats on your Evo. A couple of corrections though... US got evo 8,9,10 only. All parts are not interchangeable between 4-9. Many parts are though. No such thing as an Evo 5 Tommi Makinen Edition. TME was a Evo 6.5. Those evo 9 Recaros are very nice although I do like the e5 seats a lot too. The Evo 7 valve cover is nice! And I see its got an Evo 6 rear wing and Evo 6.5 TME front bar. Its had some mods hey? Was it a track car with the tow hook up top? You talk to camera very well. I'll go now and check your other videos. Keep the updates coming! and visit my channel :)
A legendary timeless car for sure
correction from what you said, USDM evos started 8 not 7.
Thanks, wow. I thought the US had at least started from the 7. Crazy to think we only got 3 generations
Randomly got this video recommended to me and I can see how passionate you are about evo’s so I’m happy to see it in good hands 🤝
Thanks man that means alot 🙏
Good looking car man, just picked up mine too, definitely a dream car of mine.
Love the car what size steering wheel is that?
Thank you! Its a Nardi 14"
One more question if you don’t mind me asking what radio is that?
@leodossantos707 sure thing! Its an 7" alpine but I'll have to get the model number.
Nice car!
Did you swap the motor because of problems or just because ?
My isF has bubbles in the coolant tank but there’s no overheat u think it’s the valley plate?
Stage 2 is the sweet spot for a daily GTI. Plenty of power and reliability. Best road trip car ever!
The intake manifold looks like a pain in the butt to remove, but once you do it, you realize it not that bad. I've removed it at least even times no to do waterpump installs and carbon cleanings. I can remove it in less than an hour easily.
經典之作
One of the sweetest GTIs I’ve seen. Between the color scheme, the modifications, rims, cabin accessories and just plain clean. LOVE this car….
Thank you so much!
Great video, and your car looks awesome, that intercooler looks so nice!
Thanks! The gold intercooler was one of my favorite upgrades
As another owner of a high mileage MK7 GTI. I agree with most of the things you said in this video. My GTI is big turbo and makes over 500whp on E85. It has just over 141K miles and has been solid. Completely stock motor as well. If you maintain these cars and don’t cheap out mods and maintenance, they will last a long time. One thing I did disagree on is the manual transmission being a “well designed” transmission. Anyone who thinks VW makes a good manual, hasn’t driven an a car with an actually good manual (Honda S2000, Civic Type R, BMW M3, Porsche 911). The VW manual has zero feel and is too assisted. I also wouldn’t call a manual that has a clutch so weak, it can barely hold stock power as “well designed”. It’s one of the main reasons I went for the DSG. VW makes a mediocre manual but a phenomenal DSG. As previously stated, my car makes over 500whp and the DSG handles it just fine. A manual GTI would need significant upgrades to handle that power lever. Also as a previous manual transmission owner. I find the DSG just as engaging, albeit in different way.
I appreciate the feedback! If I could go back I would tweak what I said to one of the good manual transmissions available today. I now own a 1998 Mitsubishi Evo and the car has a 5-speed manual thats completely different then most other cars and completely un-assisted. Gearing is short, knotchy, but very precise. One thing I always loved about the VW is its buttery-smooth. May need supporting upgrades as you reach 400+, but out of the box its pretty solid. 1000% agree on the stock clutch being weak. It does slip as soon as you mention the word "tune"
I sold my DSG for a manual cause I wanted more driver engagement I was stage two with the DSG but I’m stage one with a manual and I just bit the bullet and paid the $1,200 for an upgraded clutch and it’s done me great. I’m at 155,000 miles right now and no problems. Glad I made the change to a manual transmission and would never go back.

Oh. Memories … 🥲
Drive with 2 hands when speeding. Nothing wrong with going fast but nothing about this is badass. Get a phone mount.
Your absolutely right it was the last day before selling and was spur of the moment. That being said your 100% correct
Nice just bought one and couldn’t be happier
hey man
did you face any problems so far??
@@ghiathsami1577 nope only I recommend a walnut blast due to the carbon buildup these have
I just took ownership of a 1998 m roadster in arctic silver and im in love. Great video
