SR-71 landing at AF Museum Dayton OH2.wmv
SR-71 landing on 6000' runway at the AF Museum (now called the National Museum of the USAF). To be put on display inside the Museum, which is free to all, located just east of Dayton, Ohio.Makes two low passes before landing..Estimates were that 20,000 people came out to see it arrive. It took two -three weeks to sanitize it before going on display.

What do they mean by sanitize it in the description? Drain all the fluids? The one at UHZ near IAD still leaks to this day
The most beautiful aircraft ever built...❤
I can imagine seeing such a craft landing being trump voters are very confused about how they have so many smarter people living among them.
This is some really amazing footage, man; thanks for recording this, thanks for holding onto it so long, and thanks for stabilizing it. A++ -- 11 years on this is still worth watching!
My grandfather was there on that day!
I was there as an awestruck 14 year old
In a world full of cheats, liars and psychopaths, that heart stopping engineering reminds me of what we can all really be. God bless all fellow travellers 🤗🤗
Pregunta aguda , no se sienten como que fueron estafados con esa arma
It looks like it lands quite hard, to me. Was that a typical landing? No tidy little flare out juat before touchdown. I'm no expert. Welcome any views. Cheers.
This aircraft flew from London to New York in 1 hour 54 minutes record still stands
👍💯💯💯💯💯💯👍
The two aircraft I wish I could have seen in flight the sr-71 and b36 peacemaker
Why does it take 3 tries?
I remember watching this from up on side of the road. Hard to believe over 30 years, ago.
ABSOLUTELY AWSOME 😅
I wish I had a 50 year old mind when I was 20 and took interest in these type of things
To understand how bad as s the United States is and why so many envy (hate) us , just watch this video. This was over 30 years ago. The plane was obsolete. In spite of this, no other country on earth has been able to duplicate this. The United States rules the f ck ng world.
So beautiful, but also sad, to see a plane, (born to fly) land for the last time, never to fly again.😔
Their cameras could clearly read car license plates from 60,000 ft. Also, could tell what golf ball being used on any golf course.
the last flight of a great bird
A good friend of mine flew these for 15 years.
I saw one fly in the 70s airshow in Cleveland one badass plane
You’re all idiots…the specs are still classified…so no one really knows…
I wish that I had been there!!
merica.
There is a group that does speaker programs and have had SR-71 pilots as speakers. Maury Rosenberg told the story of how they did a fly-by at Sac-Metro one day. One of those great SR-71 stories. Brian Schul (sorry, may have spelling wrong) had a story about SR-71 ground speed. A great story as well. I need to make the trip to Dayton. As a kid, I remember B-58s supersonic overhead.
Wow probably The Beale AFB SR71
Landing so good I almost think it didn't even need the chute deployment lol.
This is rare footage
I was there. I was around a third grade student at Virginia Stevenson elementary, living in Paige Manor and they let us out to watch it. My distinctive memory was the parachutes deploying.
What a beautiful and amazing aircraft
A great snippet of history. Watching this in 2021 so this really did happen. When the Airforce was awesomer than in 2021.
Thanks you so much for this video.
Always will love the SR-71, the sky's are lonely since this beautiful bird landed.
Look at all that people, so lucky to have seen that beautiful jet fly.
It looks like he stopped crazy fast… but I guess that runway is 2.5 miles long.
Too bad he didn't blast them with AB
I worked with a guy said he was there that day when he was a kid. He said where they were the coms were piped through the PA system so they could hear. He said they heard "wheels up" as the plane took off in California. 30 minutes later it was flying over Dayton.
Don't Kid Yourselves ,This _ is why We Won the cold war .
, Been to Dayton several times ,for X B 70 ,B 36 ,and many others in 70's ,80's .but did Not see this ! Now, I Have well done ,Thank You
One of the best inventions of the United States military. This aircraft is truly fantastically awesome. The aircraft that outran and outclimbed many fighter jets and missiles during its service. Can't wait for the SR-72 to be completed. Lockheed Martin said it's gonna fly twice as fast, nearly mach 7, and a much higher altitude, and I think more stealthier as well. I wish I can see the plane in real life.
All those people running twoards after it landed for the last time... Had to hold back tears.
I live real close to Beale Air Force Base, and was one of the fortunate ones to see the S R 71 many times in its day!!
From what I’ve read they’re a bitch to fly, legend right there…
SR71: "Request groundspeed check" ATC: "You're equipment is better than mine but I show you at 2788kts" SR71: "Yeah we are showing closer to 3000" ATC: "Rrright"
What a Beautiful Beast ..
Old jet but looks like 7th generation jet !! Please please bring back this design !! Just like boeing 747 queen of sky for jumbo jet, Blackbird is queen of sky for jets.
Still ahead of it's time...
It looked like a couple low flybys for the audience, but I wonder if they actually had an aborted landing. They had the wheels lowered and then pulled out of it, and when they did finally land they had the emergency vehicles out on the runway with them.
What a magnificent machine.
