Recognized for its world-class design and sparkling acoustics, the Concert Hall at Drew University has been in demand by major artists for both recording and performance since it opened in 2005. Among the internationally acclaimed musicians who have performed and recorded in the hall are members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, which has established an on-going series in the hall. The Directors of CMS have stated that the Concert Hall at Drew is among the best in which they have performed. The Concert Hall’s da Camera concert series features musicians who have recorded in the Concert Hall.
CMS Presents Virtuoso Winds- November 2nd, 2024 at Drew
Join us Saturday, November 2nd as CMS returns for its 18th season at the Concert Hall.
Virtuoso Winds celebrates the music of Beethoven, Glière, Poulenc, Martinů, and Reinecke with an all-star cast including:
ADAM WALKER, flute
JAMES AUSTIN SMITH, oboe
DAVID SHIFRIN, clarinet
MARC GOLDBERG, bassoon
RADEK BABORÁK, horn
This outstanding collection of internationally renowned wind players, joined by CMS favorite Michael Stephen Brown, offers ensemble classics from the 18th through the 20th centuries. All the instruments gather for Poulenc’s effervescent Sextet, which he described as “an homage to the wind instruments I have loved from the moment I began composing.”

Sometimes contemporary music is a challenge to listen to because it often has a lot of dissonance. I really liked the ending @ 44:00. Lyrical and tonal. 😊
