10 years ago today we lost Edward J. Stringer and Corey D. Ankum. May their souls rest in peace. Thanks to all firefighters for your bravery!
Chicago 🔥 fire🔥 radial 🔥
I remember this day...... I woke up to the news helo over the scene of the collapse. I later learned 2 brothers didnt make it. years later I still weep when I hear this radio call. GODSPEED Corey and Ed , You both received your wings and youll always be in our hearts. Stay low and let it blow, See you when I arrive.
i was assigned to engine Truck 47, and that morning all 12 of us sat around and listened to this call, and it was a long morning. 335 ....it was odd to suddenly remember that.
World Class Man.
RIP

HEROES!!!
Great Dispatcher
During the video, starting at 11:19 plus, other photos. The look on the firefighter faces says it all. Firefighters are a real family!! God Bless all of you for service!! Stay safe. Rest in peace Corey and Ed !!!
With all due respect to Corey and Ed, please don't forget those active members lost off duty due to complications of on the job injury. I've been in a buggy after nearly losing my husband, only to have him die years later from injury incurred from CO2 poisoning. Be careful out there guys. The damage from CO2 never goes away. It strikes at any time in the middle of a happy life.
Mary Kaye Flynn Jenrich Don’t you mean CO poisoning
my cousin was originally scheduled to work at the closest firehouse to this location on the day of the collapse but had swapped shifts with another guy at the firehouse
Our dispatchers could learn a thing or two or three from these dispatchers.
firefighter First Lawrence laplante
Sorry for your loss brothers from CFD
firefighter First 1
Six years ago today we lost Corey and Ed. Continue to rest in peace, brothers, and keep watching over your brothers and sisters in the CFD.
Sorry for your loss, My Corey and Ed rest in peace. They are hero's (as in my eyes all Firefighters are) but, they paid the ultimate price. as a firefighter is well of. God Bless CFD.
This should be played at every training class. Great coms.
Why the Chicago fire department still doesn't wear scba and gear on fire calls it amazing more firefighter aren't dying but Alot have cancer
sad day they are heros they risk there lifes for strangers my dad is a firefigher and my brother is a firefigher/medic
Sad day for CFD like others have mentioned great dispatcher, finger bang on the pulse... Wish our dispatchers were that quick & alert in the U.K, rip guys ...
my cousin's rig was called out to this fire e126 he was scheduled to be the engineer on the engine that night but had to swap shifts with another firefighter
This is why...
I spent 31yrs with the cfd and have great respect for our dispatchers I worked the day the riots of 1968 started and main handled radio calls and did it with professional ease also the macormic fire and the micklebery fire. I am proud to have had the best calmest and men dispatchers to work with when on a run.
joseph mullen my dad was a cop, hired on 66. What. Mess 68 was eh?
Ur lying
4:36 toy model
my cousin is a firefighter with the city of chicago he was going to be on shift during this fire but had to change shifts
RIP, Dispatchers did a great job, fast work by all the OIC's and Command. Always a shit feeling when you hear a mayday come over. Sucks that something like this had to happen in a big empty building..... Rest easy brothers.
yeah i say man my brother and his partner was in a fire and the roof colasped on them they las blessed they were alright
🚒🚒🚨🚨And im goin be a firefigher when i grow up 🚨🚨🚒🚒
and willieofroanoke both hospitals are 10 miles away!! Going to Christ from the ryan or the drive sucks because you have to all the way west to 4400 west on 95 st which does NOT move the way the drive does!
they went to NMH (northwestern) because Christ can't handle 2 traumatic arrests and more traumas. they have to spread the patients out amongst the hospitals. by the way 95 street has a lot of traffic and they can make good time flying down the drive with ALS E98 blocking the southbound lanes of the drive at Chicago Ave.
If there off full bypass then they can handle multiple traumas if there on full bypass which they are almost 70% of the time then no
Sad day, gone to soon. R.I.P Brothers. Thoughts and prayers to family.
Rip Cory and Edward
Geez.... WHY did they go to Northwestern, yes, a major hospital on Chicago's near North side, but many miles from the fire scene when Christ hospital a level one trauma center in OakLawn (a suburb that abuts to Chicago city limits was less than half the distance? Also the traffic suggests they were near Marquette Park, several miles West of the fire and passing Holy Cross Hospital that's just East of the park?
Incredibly Sad & a very sad day for the CFD. May our brother rest in peace, London Fire Brigade Clerkenwell Send their thoughts.
RIP heroes
Shut up you piece of crap, maybe when your house is on fire they just will not come and let it brun!
Ignorance is bliss.
Great dispatcher. Very sorry for the loss of good firemen. Thank you for continuing to fight, for all of us.
@mrmarijuanakills..Fuck you..you wouldn't last one minute on the job..we don't have to dramatize what we do, we see shit and deal with situations that most people couldn't handle..debt be a hater just because you don't have the balls to do it yourself.."Stay Safe"
This is not a job for everyone!! It takes the right person to deal with this! My sons grandfather was a 35 year Chicago firefighter. So I highly agree with your post!! I could not carry gear!! One top of that a person! Thank you for your service! Much appreciated!
RIP Corey and Eddie...two years have passed but the guys still think about both of you every day. Keep your guiding hands on your brothers and sisters.
mayday call comes in at 3:08 . R.I.P.
I know what this audio was about just wondering because that picture was not taken at the fire
great dispatch and comms. sad situation. best to all
Horrible Morning
I hereby nominate this dispatcher as the Official candidate for the presidency of the USA 2012.
Ya Engwood and Main are great dispatch centers. And they are none stop sending out calls.
KSC-711!
First off.. the dislike is obviously a mayor... Well done CFD, if this was my department, first off, we wouldn't do something like that on the radio (no love for the chief) and if we did, we would get reprimanded for improper use of the radio... so sad
the communication in this audio was unreal.
I've been to fires where a member/brother firefighter has been killed, and went through the wake and funeral process. When you're in the midst of the emergency, you don't always get to hear all of the radio calls, and hearing these makes it even more saddening. Too bad most of the country are more interested in hearing the sports scores, or who was booted off a talent show, than news of the death of a true hero in the line-of-duty.
God Bless America!
You guys are very lucky to get that man.
He's coming to my town as a Fire Chief. Carol Stream.
That's the honor a real chief gets when he leaves.
