This worked like a charm on a wetsuit I hadn't worn in 20 years. It might have taken two minutes to work. Gear bags with seized zippers are next! Thanks a million.
Watching this after getting hit in side of the head this afternoon after someone dropped in on me and ditched their longboard. Not even a big day, just someone being careless and now my left ear is all f'ed up, so lucky it wasn't any worse.
Woah, sorry to hear it mate. Exactly the type of stuff I'm talking about that's going on out there in the water. I'm guessing you didn't have a Gath on, yeah..? Hope you're healing up OK, cheers -KS
Used to love those boards in the cold UK waters. The Dow PE core worked great. The build quality was shocking tho . The slick would de-laminate as would the rails. The 'new ' PE is just not as flexy and recoil is slower. The Morey 7's shaped the future of board design . My fave boards I am currently on M.S Science's so I guess they still have a little bit of that DNA in them .
Yeah mate they had pro's and cons for sure. Weren't as durable as boards like the old Mantas but I preferred the feel and performance of the Morey Dow cores, especially in winter here. Quality control was sketchy sometimes on the Mexican made Moreys, so you had to have a good look at the boards in the shop before you grabbed one!! Yep Science are top quality boards still top of their game and definitely some Mach 7 inspired templates in their lineup,- after all, MS helped develop it! Thanks for the input mate, cheers - KS
The fucking vinegar WORKED! On a zip that’s been stuck for 3 years 😂 THANK YOU 🙏🏼
awesome mate, that's great news. glad it helped you out! thanks for the positive feedback, enjoy -KS
When I have a really difficult zipper and vinegar is not doing it, I amp up to muriatic acid. Dangerous stuff, protect your eyes do it in sink to wash fabric right away. But it digs in deeper. Apply all around with dropper or fine brush on inside and out.
@@ceeweedslsounds hectic but interesting mate, thanks for the positive input! Cheers -KS
will you do a review of the machadocado
I have exactly the same wetsuit, and the exact same problem. The white vinegar worked after about 3 hours. Thanks so much for the tip. I will say though this Ripcurl chest zip system is the worst. Even when it perfectly lubed it doesn’t work well. Countless times before a surf I’ve had to ask a mate, or a random stranger to do up my zip as I just can’t get it to work myself. My spring suit , which also a Ripcurl of the same age, has a full plastic zip housing and I’ve never had an ounce of problem.
yep it's frustrating hey mate! such a shame because otherwise they're not bad suits. and yeah the zips with larger teeth made of different materials are the go. cheers for the input - KS
I always wear a hole in me ass mate. Cut it down the middle get a summer rashy. Great for snorkeling, or those hot days
Whoa this is a huge surprise! I haven't seen any video or photos of Booth in decades and thought he was completely divorced from the sport. I'm glad to see his he a signature model. His Custom-X model had one of the best all-round template.
Hey mate, Booth isn't releasing his old signature boards these days. This is a versatile Nomad brand board by rider Matt Lackey which has the same template as the old Booth Quest boards but modern materials. Stoked this shape is now available again for us prone/dk versatile lovers! Give one a try, and enjoy - KS
That board was the 💩 in the late 80's early 90's Great board!!!!
Ha yep, agree mate! So many good times were had on these. Keep an eye out for more vintage boog stuff on the channel coming soon yew - KS
Thanks for the video.i have some miner repairs to tend to.cheers
Is the Razor Rip Surf good for Pump Track? I have the Razor RipStik and the wheels wear out quickly.
hey mate, i haven't used one on a pump track so can't really say yes or no, but my guess is a surfskate might be better suited to a pumptrack due to the difference in styles used to maintain momentum. but who knows, they might be fun, maybe give it a try and see what you think. as for wheel durability, you may be able to try a different density wheel (eg- harder) that might last longer. hope this helps, good luck!
Been on a diverse for three seasons. Good go to. Good on the knee and pretty quick on the guts too.
yeah mate i agree, great for both ways! i have other boards i enjoy but keep coming back to this one, great template for sure. thanks for the positive input! cheers -KS
Pretty well agree with all your comments but would add- The resin straps break after a while , I’ve had to replace them 3 times now. They also give me a bad fungal rash if I don’t clean there regularly. The battery doesn’t last as long as it used to and the first thing to go is the tide function leaving just the time and nothing else. Rip Curly quoted me $140.00 to replace strap and battery and postage. I decided it was time to look at a new one and I paid $350.00 for a new one only to find it’s a really dumbed down version of the previous Stainless Steel one with only a bar graph display of the current state of the tide so I’ve lost- Next tide time , full or low, No height of that tide. Future tide predictions anywhere in the world. No moon phase. I’m really pissed and will be taking it straight back.
hey mate, yeah i didn't use it long enough to wear out the strap ha, but yes the plastic isn't good for some skin types and can give rashes especially if left on too long. and unfortunately yes the watches themselves are plagued with issues. even if you get it all repaired/replaced, a new issue might pop up. it's a shame really. thanks for your input! cheers -KS
i just lost a very good surf today, my ziper stuck, so mad, every time with those shitty rip curl wetsuit...they are the worst
yep frustrating hey!! terrible design for saltwater wetsuits. spend your $ elsewhere, or at least until they fix this issue. cheers for the input -KS
Hey man I enjoyed the video. I love old school body boards. I have a Morey Mach HS board from the 90s. Do you know anything about that model? I cant find anything online about it
hey mate glad you enjoyed! yeah the Mach HS had a Hard Slick bottom (hence the name) made of high density PE i think, not Surlyn slick which was on higher end models. they were mainly aimed at the beginner/intermediate market, but their template outline was fun for prone (Morey borrowed template specs from their performance shapes for most of their other boards) and some riders liked the durability and stiffness of those slicks when coupled with the board materials, as lower end boards didn't have the X-Flex Mesh reinforcement etc. hope this helps, and enjoy the board! cheers -KS
@@kookshed thanks for the info man! Looking forward to more of your videos
Wave pools with their concrete walls & bottom……
ha yes, that's a good point too! cheers -KS
Totally worked. I had a O'Brien Ski that had been in its' bag several decades. Ski made in the early '70s and able to get zipper unstuck easily .Vinegar and toothbrush used only and took less than 10 minutes.
Glad to hear it worked for you mate, enjoy! Cheers -KS
This looks like a good starter board. What is considered "signature?" I just got a Science board. I would assume it falls into a signature category. Looking forward to using it.
hey mate, by signature board i mean a pro model by a pro rider, usually named in the board's model name (ie- it has their 'signature' of approval and is endorsed by them). this HP Trad board is not a pro rider's signature model per se', but was still designed by team riders. yes it could be a starter board for someone i guess, but it wasn't really designed as one and is more aimed at intermediate to advanced riders. your Science board might be a signature board if it's got a rider's name attached to it (eg- Mike Stewart or Tanner Mcdaniel). hope this helps, cheers -KS
Thank You! I had tried several things including, zipper lube and WD-40. None of the worked. However, this vinegar method worked fast! The zippers on my life vest were frozen hard and wouldn’t move! This method works!!’
Worked damn good, thank you 🙏
awesome to hear! enjoy the "new" suit (; cheers for the positive feedback -KS
More BB stuff please
no worries mate, stay tuned for more boog stuff! coming up -KS
Great stuff, in-depth.
thanks mate, glad you enjoyed, hope it was helpful in some way! cheers -KS
@@kookshed defo, it's between the Winny and a Lost.. Cheers from Cape Town
Quick question: I surf really cold water down here, but am going to Indo next month... how good is the board in warm Indo water?
@peterbrandt7456 it should be fine if it hasn't been ridden much before going I reckon. It will definitely be more flexible in the warmer water so try to take a new one as it might be pretty soft by the end of the trip. Hope this helps and have fun over there - KS
Epic, thanks for replying.
Yo tuve exactamente esa misma tabla en talla 42.! Para esa época era una bestia de tabla, corrí olas de 4 metros en esa nave y se comportaba súper bien.! Buenos tiempos con los amigos.! Saludos.!🔥👌
I owned the same board in the 80s but I put fins on mine.
glad to hear your 7-X was a great board for you, sounds like you had some awesome times in the water with it. Thanks for the positive input! enjoy - KS
@@bassinbillRC5300 reppin' the skegs in the boogie mate, good stuff! hope you had some fun times on it! thanks for the input mate, cheers -KS
I got the Ecopro cork tailpad on my Timbertek Creeper. I‘m not sure if you can find these pads in Australia though. How do you like the board? Would be cool if you made a review on the Creeper.
hey mate, yeah i've got an Ecopro cork pad as well, i'm doing a review on them soon. and yes the Creeper review is also dropping soon! stay tuned yew - KS
Awesome! Looking forward.
Thanks for the review. I had a Meyerhoffer 2 longboard and his XYZ longboard which didn’t have as extreme a hip in it. The XYZ was amazing how well it could turn and had a lot more in it than I ever asked of it. Often got some strange looks and comments from others but it worked really well. Unfortunately, the, carbon fibre original one snapped but I got a copy made up from a local shaper who “got” why it works so well. It lasted better and worked really well.
hey mate, sounds like you recognise the value in these designs! yeah definitely a head turner shape but i think if more people tried and used them they'd be more common and accepted (eventually). glad to hear you're still repping the Meyerhoffer inspired boards! enjoy -KS
Good advise really, unless you rinse after every surf and never dry in the sun liquid seals break down fast not to mention a little less flexible. Dakine Mission suits are DOUBLE glued and TRIPPLE blind stitched with regular tape inside in the core areas with critical points reinforces... prob one of the most durable, warm, well thought out suits out there. The insulation they use is pretty amazing too, happy I gave them a shot they are pretty new in the suit game but really entered strong. Their top of the line are liquid taped and imho worse than their middle range Mission suits for this reason, gice me double glued tripple blind stitched any day
hi mate, yep agree. most seals like that become too fragile to last long with the current technology unfortunately. glad you've found a wetty you're happy with atm, thanks for the heads up on them and for the positive input! enjoy, cheers -KS
HEAT GUN warm slow so you dont coo thhe foam .
Thanks mate, a handy idea! I try to give tips using stuff that most people have access to, but yes that could work well on a low setting for sure. Cheers for the positive input - KS
Excellent video - keep it coming…!! 💯✅
hey thanks mate, glad you enjoyed and hope it was helpful! cheers -KS
I just got the Vissla New Seas 4/3 wetsuit. It’s their latest model. It has an innovative zipper that runs from behind the shoulder in a curve. The zipper works well so far. But the teeth are tiny. I hope that it won’t ever get stuck like you had experienced on other wetsuits. I love how comfortable and warm the suit is. However, i am shocked how it doesn’t keep its size. I got it in small as I followed your advice. I am 175cm and could also have tried the medium-small based on Vissla’s sizing recommendation. After the third surf it already streched so much that there are rippels on the arms, the legs and under the shoulder…a real bummer!
hey mate, yeah they definitely stretch a bit! so it's lucky you went a smaller size for sure. yep both of mine have the folds on arms so i feel your pain. and maybe try the tip i shared to keep the zips from locking up later down the line in future, just as a precaution. thanks for sharing the feedback as it helps others too! cheers -KS
Yeah, the beeswax trick! I’ll definitely try it! Thanks! Happy to see that you’re uploading new content. You’re channel is gold! Keep them coming.
Hoping this works!!! Been jammed for a few years lol
hopefully it works for you! if it doesn't work the first time, try reapplying. Also check out my other video on how to prevent it happening again. Good luck! -KS
@@kookshed it hasn’t worked yet, I even tried rust calcium remover and scrubbed with a toothbrush but the zipper won’t budge. I don’t want to force it and have it come off the track, but I need this to open. Ahhh!
@@releasetoreceive fair enough mate, sounds like it's fused on pretty solid! another viewer suggested using a pin to get the stuff into all the nooks and crannies of the zipper head and zip track teeth that you can as well, to help it get to work everywhere. if none of that works, maybe try a little WD40 in there or even coconut or sewing machine oil. but they are last resorts that don't necessarily work in this situation, it sounds pretty bad, i'd just keep reapplying and hope for the best. good luck -KS
great review , no BS thanks
Thanks for the positive feedback mate, glad you enjoyed and hopefully it was helpful! Cheers -KS
Great video!
thanks mate! glad you enjoyed. cheers -KS
Also use a very fine pil to poke in top and bottom of the zipper head. Add that to your how to it takes minutes can use same day.
did you mean use a very fine Pin, yes? that could be a good idea if the toothbrush doesn't fully work in the zip head! thanks for your positive input! cheers -KS
Awesome tip will work eveytume my wet suit is years stuck and i was about to throw out and expensive omeil. So isaid try youtube.. surely somehas a solutuon vinigar makes sense it an acid. And thats whats need. I new it would work. Perfect. Thanks again yeah winter swimimg again. Yeah.
that's great to hear mate! glad it worked for you, thanks for the positive feedback and enjoy using your suit again, cheers -KS
Ive always had this board in my quiver and everytime i surfed it. It always reminded me why I loved this board. Bought another one just in case the old one snaps. Ive gone tube on beachies that impossible to make it and its just addictive how this board gives you speed. Fastest board in my quiver.
for sure mate, definitely a fun and fast ride! good idea having a backup one too, you sound a bit like me, i do that ha. thanks for the positive feedback, enjoy! -KS
This is very cool actually
Worked! Oh I’m so happy!!
that's great news mate! thanks for the feedback, enjoy -KS
What do you think of using the suit for bodysurfing? Think it would have problems with flushing?
good question mate. personally i did notice a bit of flushing through the side of chest flap if a wave hit at a certain angle. For bodysurfing can i recommend trying a zipperless suit? they are similar to a chest zip wetsuit but i reckon they seal better around the neck and chest if fitted properly, and are warmer overall if they use good materials. i'm going to post a vid about zipperless suits in future so stay tuned! cheers -KS
Hey mate how would you compare it to a bat tail for releasing in spins etc? Does it sit kind of in the middle when comparing to crescent tail and bat tail when it comes to releasing? Or does it release better/worse than both? I'm looking to add to my quiver a board that's loose and fun in 2-3ft (Aussie) and usually go with a bat tail for those smaller waves, but I'm interested to see if the Wi-Fly is worth considering instead.
good question mate. i rode a bat tail again recently and gotta say they do spin excellently, but honestly the Wifly tails have no problems releasing/spinning at all, even in the pocket etc, you would think by looking at them they might hold too much etc, but no, i think the other design elements might offset this. keep in mind this board seems to go best in waves over 3ft with more power, so you might still need to bust out the bat tail for smaller days. hope this helps -KS
@@kookshed that's a great help thanks mate. I think I'll look at a bat tail again next spring, but for now as we're heading into autumn and bigger swells (🤞🏻) I'll stick with the crescents.
does this board come in a 44, or 44.5
Worked like a freaking charm! Every one of my zippers on my burton snowboard bag were totally corroded stuck. Was literally pulling my knife out to cut her open for my board and figured eh let’s see what TH-cam has for this. Unreal, this magic trick is legit!
That's awesome to hear mate! Glad it helped you out when needed. Thanks for the positive feedback, enjoy! Cheers - KS
My uncle would like to ask you some questions. Do you have an email? Cheers Steve
Nah mate but you're free to ask any questions here -KS
Hey guys great review. What tailpad have you got on this?
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed! That's an AQSS tail pad. Stay tuned for a review on them. Cheers- KS
why did you not mention the dems on the board in the vid.? did i miss something? That helps a ton when giving a board review. My apologies if u did mention the boards dems. I was dying to know. I am 6'6" 230lbs. and ride the 6'0". The 6'2" was a bit big, like you were saying about yours. They can replace a longboard.... Shoots the 6'4" (biggest model) is 57 liters!! Thanks for your time...
Hey mate, this one is 5'11" , hope this helps! Cheers- KS
hahaha i have one of these.. used it today for a surf.. ive had it since i started back in the 90s
nice one mate! glad to hear it's still being used all these years later and bringing you good times! thanks for sharing, enjoy -KS

likely calcium deposits. My board bag is completely locked up from them
you could be right mate, not sure on the exact makeup of the substance right now but yeah it messes them up for sure! hopefully this vid helped in some way though. cheers -KS
@@kookshed - definitely, the vinegar makes perfect sense. gonna put it on just before I go out for a surf next time - I just have a partial lockup on my front zip quicksilver
@jeffg4686 no worries mate. I've also got another video on how to keep zappers from locking up again that you might wanna check out as well. Cheers and good luck -KS
Thanks for your reviews! I had a Baked Potato 5.9 wich I loved...I swapped it for a brand new Twice Baked same size. Haven't had the chance to use it yet, but I just to love my BP. Was the right choice?
good question mate. i guess as usual it all comes down to personal choice, especially with the tail designs. i love my BP because it's very fun and i've had great times with it, but the TB is more refined and tweaked for a little more performance in my opinion. i think if you loved the BP you'll be very stoked on your new TB and happy with your swap for sure. enjoy! -KS
