Range Day 6/23/24 with the Prodigy
มุมมอง 193 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was the first trip after sending the prodigy to my gunsmith. The prodigy ran flawlessly. The two issues were me and not the pistol. This is the best it's ran in the two months of owning it. It ate 225 rounds of fmj and jhp starting from 115, 127, and then 147 without any issues.

ILL BET YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE SAYING . BUT YOU MUST USE ALL THE LETTERS PROVIDED WITH THE WORDS FOR ALL YANKEES TO UNDERSTAND . THEY PUT FORTH MUCH EFFORT INTO THEIR VOCABULARY . ALWAYS SHOOTING FOR AN A. AND NOTHING LESS .
How long did it take to get your gun from them? How many mags did it come with?
My local gun shop had two in the case. One threaded the other, not. I bought the one that's not threaded because I have no intentions of running it suppressed.
It came with one MBX magazine.
@@Renaissanceman75 thanks for the info
Pretty standard grip. Lookin good. Waiting to hear how you like shooting the new Romulus!
I just got one the other day I love it
What Caliber?
9mm
Love it. Just got one myself. The fitting of barrel and slide is just as nice as a 6k 2011 . It's insane
Sexy!!!❤
good looking gun, how do you like it?
Yes, I do at least the first impressions of just playing with it. I'm going take it out this weekend hopefully.
Is that the 4.25 in ??
YES
Yes, it is.
Do the sights cowitness? I feel like that rear is taller than the front 😬
Thanks for the comment. They do cowitness.
@@Renaissanceman75mighty beautiful gun sir
Thank you sir.
@DirtyDan4659 thank you
What good does it do anyone to take something out of a box? Especially when an unknown quantity of material is cast aside as bullshit garbage?
Nah, prodigy feels so much better in my hand but to each is own
Try removing the finish on the slide rails. a lot of times there is excess finish build up left behind. Have you reached out to Springfield?
Actually, I did not reach out to Springfield. This is the 4th prodigy I've had, bad interactions with their customer service and warranty department, so I just contacted my gunsmith and sent it to him. Here is the repair list. Tune extractor, grind down, and polish the disconnector. Add a small radius to where the breech face and stripper block meet. Remove material from the front of the stripper block. Replaced the sear spring and trigger spring and did a trigger job, and adjusted the travel. My smith said it should run as good as a Stacatto now. I'm going take it out this weekend and see how it does. Just playing around it feels like a totally different pistol. So smooth and refined.
Out of battery? Looked like it ejected fine.
I'm not sure it could have been out of battery. Every pistol I brought was having issues like that. I thought it might have been the ammo. It was cheap dynamic range ammo that I've never shot before . The Prodigy is the only exception. It doesn't run that great so to the gunsmith it went.
@Renaissanceman75 It's either that, light strike, or your pin is jacked up, but is probably the ammo now that you added that context. I try to give the benefit of the doubt over youtube with regards to ammo quality bc I didn't load it lol.
Why don't you like the low profile sights?
Why REPLACE??? I don't even know what that word means...😂😂
I did take my barrel and trimmed down the end and put. Reverse crown on it. I didn’t like that barrel sticking out past slide. Looks way better …especially with that reverse crown.
I’ve got the same TRP u are showing. I reload and I’ve ran all my loads thru mine and it’s flawless. Great weapon love it …
Can you say de cocker!I will wait until
That’s unacceptable on a pistol at any price point. I had a minor issue on the ambi safety on my Dan Wesson, the safety would begin to separate while firing but the right grip panel would of course keep them from completely coming apart. I ended up just replacing the thumb safety myself with a left side single sided thumb safety. Some minor file work and it clicks on and off perfectly. I’m right handed anyway.
I agree that it's it totally unacceptable. I paid 1400.00, and this is the 4th prodigy I've had, but the 3 one in a row that the right side safety didn't work right out of the box. I called Springfield, which has, in my opinion, the worst customer service and warranty. When I called, the lady said well I believe we have a new supplier for our safeties, so going forward, that won't be an issue. I asked if they could just send me the safeties . The answer was no , but you can ship us your pistol, and you should have it back in about 2 months. I said no, thank you. I sent it to my gunsmith to fix it as soon. As Bul Armory releases their EDC Pro, I will be trading in the prodigy towards the Bul Armory. Afterward, never ever buy another Springfield.
I’ve been on the fence about purchasing this pistol. Now I’m contemplating the Tisas DS9 over the Prodigy. Thanks for the update on your latest Prodigy.
Two fine 1911s, can’t go wrong with eather one, I’ve got a few Springfield 1911s and I just got the bul armory ultra lite 1911 ds in 9mm and it’s awesome,
I want to get the new Bul Armory EDC Pro. I think it's supposed to release Q3.
@@Renaissanceman75 I hope u get it, 👍
Spend that much on a pistol, and use a shitty chinese optic?!?!
They're all Chinese optics. Even the American brand optic companies use Chinese technology lol.
The last time I checked, holosun made all of sigs rds for them.
Love this gun!!!❤
No comments yet 😂
It is a better entry level SA/DA for people just getting into the 2011/1911 gun game it allows you to have a really good single action handgun under 2k.
This Thing Just Never Gets Old 💪😎 Good Stuff My Guy
Thank you, I love it!
The stock safety is a joke.
Sexy!!!
Ya not a smart idea having ur phone laying up on the shelf 🤦🏽♂️ one hot slug come burning through the phone lol
I appreciate the concern for my phone, but in the many range trips, I've had multiple cases land on the screen and never had it break. That being said, most of the time, my phone is on the other side face down.
Sexy!!!
I like the cz shadow 2 compact but I think the new Walter pdp pro beats it and it’s a little cheaper
You mean you prefer the pdp it’s not better you prefer it!
My god that gun looks like sex

That’s pretty awesome 2A

Why replacing Prodigy? They are 2 totally different guns.
I mean...guns are guns. If he finds that this shoots better.
Prodigy is not a carry sized pistol in my opinion and that of many others. Its bulky feeling, and the grip protrudes. Overall, the CZ S2c is a better gun.
It doesn’t shoot better than the Prodigy but it is smaller/lighter.
@Three60Crusader My experience shooting stock Prodigy so far hasn't been good. They are picky about ammo and the slide tends to hang-up at times. Maybe it was just the one I was using. It was a loaner that wasn't pampered with consistent maintenance love.
The prodigy I had was a replacement from Springfield for the first one that was a piece of crap from day one. I actually didn't have a problem carrying it. The reason for trading it off was I was just frustrated with Springfield.
Great choice. If you run competition with the shadow 2, just ignore the safety. Half cock is drop safe. The only things I’ll be changing is the captured recoil spring. Just put the p07 or p10c(same) guide rode in. Maybe lighten trigger for double action, that the main spring same as shadow2. Why I like this gun is run competition with shadow 2 and after carry shadow compact. Too many people have a comp gun and never train with there carry. This you training without realising
S2C has no FPB big sadge
@@ihtenubz9697 You can’t have the same good trigger with a firing pin block. Not sure what all the fuss is about. Half cock is drop safe. Your first shot is a double action.
@@Speed-shooter I’m not arguing that, I’m arguing that betting your testicles on a hammer notch is fucking wild. I love CZ but I’d rather buy a Platypus or Staccato C/CS than the S2C despite the $1150 (S2C current price) vs $1400 (Platypus 2011) vs $2500 (Staccato). I’d much rather have a S2C and a 1301 tactical instead of buying a Staccato but there’s just not a good enough reason to go with the Shadow if it doesn’t check every box.
@@ihtenubz9697 I hear you and definitely understand what you saying. I own the staccato xc and staccato p. Trust me it’s not easy or cheap to get guns in South Africa. Let’s not even discuss the license which is one year if you lucky. I feel more comfortable shooting competitions with the shadow 2 and carrying the s2c as a carry (same platform). I look at it as a Glock kind of situation. Point and pull trigger. If you train with a safety then I hear you. In the heat of a moment I’ll take the option to just pull trigger. Half cock is drop safe. It’s when people put the extended firing pin that the gun becomes unsafe. Staccato is unfortunately not allowed in idpa under carry optics. Competition are fun and it’s training instead of just plinking. End of the day is what works for you. South Africa has 80 murders per day. I’ll take as many advantages as possible. Cheating is allowed in gun fights.🤣🤣🤣
Congratulations my friend. I'll be purchasing the compact in a few weeks. My Nighthawk is months away, this will hold me until then.
less expensive and more reliable! I just got one last week. Waiting on plate and optic. They feel great in hand. I have no issues with getting safety off but I have long fingers. Personally I am going run hammer in slightly cocked position then first shot double action.
Less expensive? They are around the same price.
@@Osprey1994 most of the Prodigys I have seen are at least a couple hundred more than the CZ is. I have not found any Prodigy close to the price I got my CZ for
Great gun. It’s replacing my staccato C2
I've heard Staccato's are the best. I'm surprised you would replace it.
It’s very comparable to the staccato C2. I’m not entirely replacing the C2. I’d be carrying this one about 70% of the time. And the staccato 30% of the time.
I just got mine but I plan still carry My C2 I haven't shot mine yet but we shall see
@Renaissanceman75 Staccato cult got to you too 😂. Staccato is far from the best.
@Osprey1994 I've heard that Staccato is one of the best, but not the best. It just surprised me that someone would swap out a Staccato for a CZ. I got rid of my Prodigy to get the Shadow 2 compact. I then ordered the Girsan Witness 2311. The pistol didn't really that great when I received it so, I sold it and ordered another 4.25 Prodigy.
Short and sweet.
Love it!!!!!
Them dumbbells are so cool
