The Rutles at Oran Mor | 2018
[5/26/18] Ten minutes of Rutles live at Glasgow's Oran Mor from the Spring 2018 tour. This intimate basement venue filled with superfans gave the evening a happy, friendly vibe. Neil, John and the band sounded fantastic and it was a genuine thrill to finally hear these songs live. We get Piggy in the Middle, Out of Town, and Cheese and Onions.
00:00 Piggy in the Middle
04:04 Out of Town
08:33 Cheese and Onions
Something to watch for in Cheese and Onions: during the intermission, someone in the crowd handed out paper hexagons, each with a letter of the song title, to several of us near him. We were supposed to raise those when Neil spells it out, emulating the animation in the All You Need is Cash special, but by the time the song was played, the crowd had shifted around so Neil got a scrambled, confused display. He loved it and you can see him react.
Got to meet Neil and John afterward - what a fun night.

Chile Trip | 2013

[Jan 2013] Sights and sounds from a trip to Chile in 2013. We visit Valparaiso, Viña del Mar, and Santiago, build a school for special needs children, stand in the Chilean miner rescue capsule, party with Mr. Mirrorball, and meet many cats along the way. We see and hear various street performers (Mimo Blanquito!), take a boat ride around the harbor, see a submarine or two, and do some shopping ...
The Cow

Joe Flaherty as John Huston and John Candy as Shelly Winters in this SCTV parody of the Schlitz malt liquor Bull commercials of the 70s. Nerd note: the back of a set next to where Candy bursts through is marked for a "LaRue" sketch. SCTV and future Letterman producer Barry Sand hands Joe the can.

[Jan 1988] Sights from a 2-week trip to the middle east are set to a meditative Egyptian soundtrack in this wordless travelogue. We descend into the pyramid of Cheops, cross the Suez Canal, take a boat to Capernaum across the Sea of Galilee, and visit a recently-discovered ancient boat. We hit Cairo, Giza, Sakkara, Caesarea, Jerusalem, Joppa, Masada, Ein Gedi, Tel Aviv, Izmir, Istanbul, Sart, P...

A homemade music video combining an improvised piece of music (2/3/12) with time lapse, 3D and stop motion animation. Basically, an excuse to play with Final Cut and try a few styles of animation. Made in 2013 with love.

Adventure Land 1966

Located in Addison, Illinois, Adventure Land was a common weekend destination for Chicagoland kids from 1961 through 1977. Following the closure of Riverview Park in 1967, Adventure Land became the largest amusement park in Illinois until Great America opened in 1976. This is a short except from family archives showing mainly the Kiddie Korral portion of the park. We briefly see the oft-remembe...
Crazy Legs Fires Caballero

Harold Ramis (original SCTV member/writer before leaving for movie success) returned to the show just once in November of 1982 to inhabit this rubbery one-off character, Allan "Crazy Legs" Herschmann. Shamelessly aping Python, Ramis still somehow manages to make it his own. A fun little overlooked SCTV moment.

Even in his John Huston costume, you can still see the classic Flaherty cuteness. 🥰
The key to impersonate Gregory Peck. Be robotic and on the verge of crying.
Sammy Maudlin was the king of sincerity, far outclassing Sammy Davis Jr.
Best comedy group ever. Sorry SNL and Marx Brothers.
I am tearing up right now.
Even better than Monty Python's ministry of silly walks. Lol
😂😂😂
Wow was not expecting Harold Ramis in this!
Best Bob Hope imitation ever.
Restless leg syndrome. 😂
You. Cheap. Punk.
Monty Pythons nod or copycat?
🤣🤣AWESOME GREGORY PECK. ON THE NOSE! ~LOLOLOL
🤣🤣DEAD ON, GREGORY PECK ~LOLOL
This crew, from what I've seen, never break character.
Joe did break once during a sketch about PMS!
It's too bad Rick Moranis doesn't show up to these things. Clay Collins turned on a lot of ladies with his great music, before he died at the altar.
It’s weird that Andrea Martin didn’t become more of a household name. She blew the rest of the cast out of the water in terms of raw talent
It's been great to see her on "Only Murders in the Building" as Steve Martin's girlfriend (though the role doesn't give her a chance to show her wilder side).
Love this 👍🏼 I'm on the keys... Great memory. Thanks for this 😎
The soft ”d’ya kno wat I mean”
Unbelievable impression of Peck. Rip Joe Flaherty
No one talking about the spoon? No one at all?
That's a great hackers cough imitation
Haven’t seen this in forty years, but I remember him at the desk 😂
Don't have a cow😂
I almost sent you this link then I thought better of it and checked the poster....duh.
This was great. It was especially nice to see a few seconds of Harold Ramis. Thank you for posting, and no complaints about the camera angle.
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for excusing the camera angle. 😊 I hoped Second City would release a proper version of this to make my stealth capture unnecessary, but after a dozen years I felt it was better to share it, even with its limitations. I got to shake Harold’s hand and say a few words to him at the after party. Seemed a lovely man.
Rick Moranis can also do Merv Griffin and Woody Allen, and of course Dick Cavett in Taxi Driver!
Classic physical comedy.
Audience member asking question at the 40 minute mark is Max Allan Collins -- some years later to collaborate on a science fiction/crime novel with Dave Thomas!
So great to hear these stories! Thanks for capturing this and sharing it.
They should have had Crazy Legs turn out to really be Moe Green, returning to get his revenge on SCTV for not paying the ransom when he was kidnapped.
There was a strong element of truth to Sammy Maudlin, which made it so funny. RIP Joe Flaherty.
Obvious connections ..better than chasing Sunflower Theatre
Grew up with SCTV…set my sleep pattern into adulthood.
I think the man looks a bit like JB Priestley
Geniuses. RIP Joe Flaherty. A comedy legend.
So painful to know that I'll never get to snuggle with him in a loving embrace. 😥 It would've been heaven.
The way him and Eugene could play off each other was beyond comedy classic SCTV News out ranks most of the SNL Weekend Update hosts only slightly beat by Norm Macdonald
Guy Caballero and Rocko will be missed.
This is pure gold. Too bad the camera angle isn't so great.
Six Flags dancing man does Dirty Vegas-Days Go By
Thank you.
RIP Joe Flaherty
Ah man, he was awesome on this show. 😢
Allan "Silly Walks" Herschmann..
How perfect did that work out in the hallway of the office with the files getting tossed.
13:50. What Dave Thomas said wasn't really true, at least as the show went on. The Tubes and The Plasmatics were on "The Fishin' Musician" with John Candy but other celebrities like Levon Helm, Roy Orbison, Devo, Ian Thomas, Natalie Cole, The Boomtown Rats, Carl Perkins, John Cougar, etc also appeared. It was always shocking to see such huge stars though because Caballero was such a chiseler.
Ian Thomas is his brother, so he's probably aware of that one.
@@noneofyourbusiness4616 Maybe he forgot?
I think I'm more butt-hurt about missing this than all those Who concerts I never attended. Look at how stunningly beautiful my love bug looks. To snuggle into him would be like dying and going to Heaven. Of course I once said that about meeting my sweet babboo, which I eventually did.
Were you speaking to me?
💔
Thank you for sharing this delightful conversation. Not only do I continue to hope for the SCTV documentary to be eventually released, but for the DVD release of all the remaining episodes.
As a lifelong SCTV fanatic, going back to the Global TV in Toronto beginnings, this is really historical stuff, especially since Harold has left us in the ensuing years. It is deeply disappointing, at best, that a reunion of these immensely talented/influential artists was filmed/posted like it was done in the Bat Cave. Were there no other cameras there, or was this filmed without permission? Truly a shame, given the content and legendary participants.
I believe it was being filmed by large cameras at the back of the room but as far as I know was never made available, hence posting my bat cave version for fans who’d otherwise never get to see this cool moment. Near impossible to capture everyone from the lip of the stage without being caught so while flawed, I tend to think of this in the “be thankful we have this at all” category.
@@etherialfilms Understood. And yes, we should be grateful there's any record of it. Just disappoints me whenever I see this, my all time favorite tv show, in less than the stellar prominence it deserves. And while we're at it...Shame on Scorsese for not releasing the 2018 doc he directed before Joe Flaherty's passing. Thanks for posting this.
im actually dying LMAAAOOOO
Horrible camera work!!! Cutting off Eugene and Catherine!? How Disrespectful. Why even broadcast this?
I'm glad it's here and that they all showed up except for Moranis, but you're right. This is the worst camera angle for a panel interview I've ever seen.
It says in the description it was done in 2009, without a smartphone and had to be stealthy about it. As someone who wasn't alive when this aired (I discovered it during the pandemic), I'm just glad it exists 🤷🏻♀️
@@MsStealYourDadAndMom Why wouldn't the SCTV want this to be aired? That's strange, but like you, I'm really glad that it's here and I still enjoyed it.
@@MsStealYourDadAndMom OK. That makes sense. I obviously didn't read that. I'm still happy I was able to watch/listen to this.
@@DUCKSAREEVILLLLLLLL maybe the guy was worried about some sort of copyright? I honestly have no idea. I know some places forbid recording certain events, so that might be the situation as well. I'm just glad I've discovered these people, they pulled me out of a serious funk 😂
