Solo Overnight on Sasquatch Mountain
Seen something here 3 years ago and came back to see if I can find the same thing again. Could never figure what could have left the "piles" that I seen then. I'm pretty familiar with most animal sign, but this was different. While I love riding my motorcycle and driving my FJ here, there are lots of pretty waterfalls and vistas, I have never camped on Sasquatch Mt., as it never seems as friendly as other places in the forest. Don't know why, I can't place my finger on the feeling.
I didn't really like camping here this time.
I'm not a Sasquatch believer, but I sure am curious what could have left that "sign".

Sleeping in my FJ at Panorama Point
มุมมอง 18114 วันที่ผ่านมา
Came up to camp at Panorama point as there was very little wind and I wanted to do some star gazing. I had seen on my star walk 2 app that there was also a chance of a northern light show here in Western Wa. I had never seen the Northern Lights and was hopeful but didn't expect to see anything. It was a hot spring day and I got the light show of my life. Now I have seen a total eclipse and the ...

On this trip I camp overnight in the lost rain forest, so named because no one ever visits the rain forest. Its at the end of a forgotten road in the North central Cascade mountains. Beef Stew from a Crock Pot on a Propane Campfire.
มุมมอง 3012 หลายเดือนก่อน
Camped on the shore of the Sauk River, again, this time in the sun on the first beautiful spring day (turn weekend) of the year. For dinner I am going to try to make a hot beef stew in my crock pot using my propane campfire. Spoiler alert, it worked great! However it required me to babysit the fire for over 3 hours so I think its better suited to a winter meal. I will for sure make it next winter.

    There are some places that just seem to have an uneasy feeling. Sometimes I don’t have a good feel about a place or section of trail and I can’t explain why. I’m fairly certain that the Bigfoot rumors are just that. Humans have been wandering on this continent for thousands of years and it’s doubtful that a few skulls wouldn’t be laying around or used in some religious ceremony. We find wooly mammoth bones and carcasses so I’m sure that if Bigfoot was around there would be more concrete evidence. Or they just went back to their home planet and only occasionally visit for nature walks.

    • @dandog7653
      @dandog7653 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The Hoh rainforest is a great rainforest, but you can find these temperate rainforest environments in almost any river valley in the W Cascades foothills. I wouldn't want to say where this particular spot is as its a favorite area due, in part, to the the lack of visitors it receives, but a person can find these areas almost anywhere. I agree they do have that, horror movie was made here look, but they are also beautiful and wonderful to experience. 🥰 LATER; So, after I replied I was taking a shower and realized I needed to add more to my reply. There is actually no place on a map named "Valley of the Ents" nor will such a name ever fall from the lips of a forest service employee as I made it up just for this area. If there were such a place I would tell you where it is in an instant. Its just a place I know and named so I could refer to it in conversation.

      But I do, I just haven't on TH-cam. I like it, but it has certain requirements to set up. Takes a bunch of space to set up those guy wires, takes a lot of time to set up and take down and if it's muddy then when I fold it up the walls get muddy from the floor. I basically only use it when it's dry and I'm going to be camped for at least three nights

      Thanks Scott, I always think the same of your spots, too. That one was especially nice because the sun came out, spring enhances everything.

    Have you ever been worried about your safety up there?

    • @dandog7653
      @dandog7653 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not obsessively, but I do take precautions. Once I've done all I can I keep an eye open, but I generally relax and enjoy the outing. If I think an area is unsafe I have no problems packing up and going, but overall and generally I feel perfectly safe in the forest. How about you?

    This is a great time of year to explore there without the crowds. You got quite the walk in, that place looks huge. When you took the lid off the pasta and the steam rolled out I was hungry again even though I’d just eaten, looked really delicious.

      Yes, I did get my exercise! Love that place. So much more than I was able to do or show. I can assure you the pasta was very delicious. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I like your easy way of camping, no cooking is good. Thanks for the tour of the fort. I never get there as its a bit far from Kitsap County and when the weather is good, like ya said. busy busy. How much propane do you go thru using that portable heater? I bought one but only got a 5lb tank, so been curious, havent used it yet.

      Thanks for watching and your nice comments. There is Ft Worden by Port Townsend, smaller but similar. That campfire never uses more than 1lb an hour, but I never go more than half or three quarters power. Its a 15 lb tank and I will get 20 or 25 hours.
