Threaded through Detroit’s airspace
มุมมอง 1159 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
At some point, national airspace planners realized that Detroit would need runways that paralleled the Canadian border. This keeps the jets on final approach in IS territory as they queue up to land. Therefore the runways are oriented from Northeast to Southwest. As we prepared to overfly Motor City’s big airport, we had to turn north and the cut across the center of the field on a Southeasterl...

The mighty Warrior is an outstanding IFR platform. In other words, it stays very stable as you fly through the clouds and it doesn’t snap over like a Skyhawk if you get slow. That being said, this Piper is not designed to climb into the flight levels. As we climbed through 9,000 feet, I provided ATC with the required information that we were climbing like a pig (less than 300 feet per minute). ...
Fear of flying to Canada
มุมมอง 18016 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Although CYQG is closer than many airports in Illinois, pilots are afraid to fly into Canada. Our flight was 2 hours and 19 minutes in duration. Longer than most $200 hamburger runs, but not long enough to really challenge your bladder. We all know why general aviation pilots do not fly from Chicago to Canada. It is the paperwork. Blah blah blah rules. Blah blah blah regulations. All frustratin...
What is the purpose of your visit to Canada today?

Well, officer, we just wanted some Tim Hortons. This answer threw the Customs and Border Protection folks for an absolute loop. A lot of Chicago pilots say that they will fly to Canada, but they never do. Today, we did it. We washed the plane off in some showers near Midway. Chicago Approach did their best to keep us away from the heavier stuff. No lightning, just rain. I watched some TH-cam vi...

Extra screaming around the pattern at Aurora (IL) Airport
มุมมอง 66หลายเดือนก่อน
As we taxied up to Runway 27, we recognized the cause for the delay. There was a Cessna 172, a T-6 Texan and an Extra 300 in the traffic pattern. The Extra was so fast, it was bypassing the Texan and the Cessna in the pattern. The tower was having a heck of a time building gaps in the landing sequence so that departures could take off. We were number three for takeoff. Finally, the tower ordere...

When the United States was under attack, fighter pilots were needed to defend the republic. Dehavilland built training aircraft to prepare pilots to halt the genocidal maniacs. Fighting the enemy from the air is risky business. Many pilots died. But Americans stood up to fascists and imperialists in those days. Fighter pilots are needed today as the bad actors of the world threaten to cow our f...

Great video. I would never complain about free content on TH-cam, however It’s very difficult to find any aviation videos without a cheesy music soundtrack. That liftoff was amazing. Do you mind my asking which Rotax motor is in this airplane?
Rotax 915, says the description
Oh Canada!
It’s close….its only missing about 2000hp ….but it’s close.
The 1961 Razorback Skylane I fly routinely cruises at 155 kts. The narrower fuselage, the speed gain from the razorback design, and a brand new Continental O-470 all contribute to making this the fastest 182 I've ever been in. 45 year A&P here.
I can see my house from here!
That's rad. What a cool plane.
Outstanding fuel economy!
Fighter plane? Its not even aerobatic! 🤡🤡🤡🤡
How much?
Big slam on general aviation out of nowhere!
Fantastic sound!!!
Got some time in an 18S on straight floats (wheels too)... enjoyed it a lot.

I fly sometimes a Rotax 912 equiped aircraft. And for the oil check in preflight a 912 needs to be 'gorgolled', which is the burbling sound the engine makes after turning it over by hand after ~20 times. The sump is then filled with oil and then you do have an accurate oil reading. Maybe the 915 doesn't need that, or maybe you did do that and cut it out the video. But I just wants to say a 912 does use quite a bit oil, so you're quote 'it's not using any oil' surprises me. I don't want to be the internet troll, just hoping you check your oil correctly for your safety. ;)
I believe they call that “burping” the engine, and actually you aren’t “filling the sump” with oil. You are using engine compression past the rings to pressurize the sump and move the oil OUT of the sump and into the oil tank. I’ve never seen a 912 or 914 use any oil, so I don’t know if your experience is a sick engine. Also if you are taking 20+ blades on the prop to get the gurgle, try turning the engine really slow, you sorta hold the compression so it has time to leak past the rings and pressurize the crankcase. You might be able to get the gurgle in 5 to 10 blades.
Interesting to watch but the audio, wtf?
A beauty! All she needs is some white enamel on those lower cowls. Let’s fly!
Yea, nice, but I have a hard time mimicking the sound of a real engine on long flights.
What do you mean the Rotax is not a real engine. it's got Pistons valves and and a fuel ratio management system. It runs a lot smoother than your "real engine" which will make it less noise and vibration fatiguing over long flights.
@@submechanophobia768the Rotax engines have a bad reputation for being unreliable. I’ve never flown one, so I can’t attest to that, but around the FBOs and flight schools, there is a lot of distain for Rotax engines.
Meant great for Steak,,,jeeez
Would make a steak fighter plane ww2, never seen one before now,,beautiful looking aircraft
Heck yeah.
Nope. Doors are still on.
Nice bird ,can she stay aloft on one engine ?
At max gross weight on a single engine she can maintain and cruise at 5300 feet.
Wow
Rad
150 knots??? I believe it! Looks clean as heck, retract gear no less, wow.
143 Kt indicated, thats fast for a fixed gear C182. A 182RG did almost 160 kt ias
Lovely bird. Thank goodness somebody didn't replace the original engines with turboprops. Reminds me a lot of Sky King's first plane.
Hope it was a great flight with all that data
“ Mix me an Old Fashioned”!!
Airspeed: 143 Kts GS: 117 kts You have 26 kts headwind Should have made 180° turn for fun so you could have a 26 kts tail wind and GS would increase significantly.

Sounds like a normal set of instructions to me...VFR with flight following
What the hack has this to do with safety?
It's in the description.
@@tryste_mx Well this is standard flying and ATC instructions, nothing special to my opinion.
Hardcore!
What a view!
got a few thousand hours in this bird. Needs lots of respect it will kill you if you're not careful
Sweet flying airplane, but evil on the ground. Sneaky little beast. Flew 18 months of airmail in northern Michigan.🙂
great aeroplane
